I have a 94 legacy wagon and live in Philadelphia, last winter we had 2 separate snow storms that were waist deep and my Subaru just eats through the snow OM NOM NOM NOM NOM!!! and I didn't even have snow tires on it..  need to get some for next winter. XD

@Jazzfather1 Ya.. they are bad ass... a 1992 came basic with power windows cruise control, and a CD player. Thats bad ass!. and to top it off... i had about 5 '95 legacy's and all of them would do OVER 120mph

i love my suby.........im on my 4th subaru. ive taken a loyal through a stream and through about 2 ft of snow in a field (not on a road) if u grew up in new england and drove a subaru, you probably drive better in snow than most west coasters do in the rain!

that car was probably automatic, if he had a manual his clutch would have burned out. I learned the hard way.

@tamick21 Why should his clutch be burned out? If you clutch in fully, it doesn't harm the clutch at all. I had a long winter only driving manual and was stuck in the snow several times, my clutch is still fine.

@herzglass its true, with a subaru you cant help but get stuck sometimes. (not because the car cant handle it but because we experiment to see how MUCH the car can handle =) All of my subarus were standards, and the only one that ever got the clutch burnt out was one that got stolen, and the fool driving it obviously had no clue how to drive... that was the end of that clutch. But just to be clear. That was an ORIGINAL clutch, and it got blown at 196,000 Miles

I can only say: hooray for manual shifting

I like to decide what my car is doing^^

And on a diesel car the clutch will even live longer, because of the low rpm / high torque at low rpm

If you are good you will need less gas with manual shifting aswell... sure most need more because they shift too late

For some reason we have more and more automatics in germany... these days that just means more electricity that can fail...

@herzglass I agree. In USA Cars dont come as standard any more... you have to special order (costs more) to get standard.... other than some of the sports cars. But its dumb and doesnt make sense, because technically it costs more to put an automatic in a car.. yet they charge you extra for chosing to NOT have it

@Kamikazz00 this is ACTUALLY a Legacy Outback Sedan. In 99 they came out with this model, before they split into 2 different car the Legacy, and the Outback. Very sweet car. I had one of these for about a year and a half.
