i think it is birch im sure iv seen somewere the yamaha stage customs are all birch. like the kit btw i use Pdp drums they awesome mine are birch shells so i put evans hydraulics on them to make them sound fatter.

hey, im looking into buying a new main snare, and maby a piccolo side. im trying to stay under 250$, 300$ at very most. i am debating between the Pork Pie Big Black Brass Snare, Pork Pie Little Squealer Snare(7x13)maple, and the Pearl Maple Popcorn snare.

im a metal drummer and am looking for something along the lines of Chris adlers, maby a little less sustain, im looking for a loudd pop, but at the same time, still has the depth, and some knee busting rimshots, any opinions on a good snare?

Seriously, im not going to recomend anything. you need to go out, try everything. even tune them in the store to see if they can get your certain sound. You really cant go wrong with pork pie or Pearl. My opinion is go out and try EVERYTHING. if you dont you will be dissapointed. not every ear is alike. i might like something u hate, ya know?

sa a secondary snare, I'd recommend the Pearl Mike Mangini snare(10"x6.2"). It's a real cocky little thing...The snares I have listed on my YouTube page are all of my favorite snares. None of them will disappoint you. Except for the JJ sign...(dont know why I got that one up there)

actualy, i love the JJ sign, with the right head ofcorse, but bassicly because it just sounds dry, unlike most of what ive herd before

it's all depending on the style of music u play, of course but if u compare the sonic quality of the JJ and say the Warlord Spartan...it's like night and day. But a good tuner with good heads can make anything sound at least half decent ;)

Well the only "stage" drums they have are "Stage Customs". So I went on musiciansfriend and found a 10x5 version of it like you have and that size only comes in the natural finish that you have it in so I figure thats gotta be it.
