So would you say these are more difficult than fighter planes/pilots academically, like you have to be even smarter or easier. I'm doing my best in school, just want to know.
Way to go bro, i love you...this video is an awesome testimony of what you guys do. You will always be my heroes........... Thank you for keeping us safe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Army Aviation-ABOVE THE BEST! You guys are carrying on the proud tradition of Army rotor-wing pilots and crews and I'm DAMN PROUD of you! May God bless and protect you all and thanks for all you do. From the proud son of a Vietnam "Slick" Pilot, "Rattlers/Firebirds" RVN-'65-'66. HOOAH!
Garry Owen! I love Army Aviation and our Soldiers! Godspeed and GIT SOME! From the son of a US Army Aviator that flew in Vietnam, '65-'66. Y'all stay safe and kick some ass! I'm damn proud to be associated with Army Aviation and Army Aviators! Hooah!
I love everything about the Cav a lot and I really want to join it once I get through college. I'm down with the idea or a Stryker or Kiowa but I heard being an officer and flying isn't a good choice because you only fly for a few years until you get behind a desk. Is that true? I know its much better to be a warrant officer when flying but is it that bad to be a officer and fly?
I always get chills when I see Kiowas doing low passes at JROTC camps. Great vid, I watch it all the time.
Hey SavageBear1 Im in my final parts of school getting ready to commission. It is true that you will fly more if you become a warrant officer, but that doesnt mean you wont fly as an officer. My LTC was flying missions almost daily in afghanistan as a Major, and thats close to 10+ years in service. So dont think that you wont fly as an officer, you just have other responsibilities leading and looking after your soldiers as well as warfighting. Feel free to ask more Q's as you come up with them.
Thank you for editing out all the anti american rhetoric shit people post. I'm so tired of that garbage! It's these losers who watch CNN and think that they are political science majors that have the answer to all the worlds problems.
Yes he did, and yes, he did. It is what we are trained to do. Have you ever done it? Once you learn about trajectory shift, the horizontal plane gyroscopic effect, and projectile jump, hitting targets is easy. You should look it up and then join the Cav. Maybe they'll let you shoot out the door.
i thought the same thing when we started carrying them in '03, but with a little practice, you'd be surprised just how accurate you can shoot from the hip out the cockpit door. i've done it many times.
You have to have your flight packet in by your 29th birthday. A college degree (4 yr.) and an instrument rating, and prior military service will make you really competitive. Pilot is one of the few Warrant Officer jobs that does not require you to be a certain enlisted rank before you can apply. Any civilian or military member can apply and be accepted to Army Flight School.
As far as understand the Age cut off was 33 and you didn't even have to have any college credits or Instrument ratings. But all those does help ofcourse.
Your information is slightly inaccurate on flight school. The age limit has been increased and neither college nor instrument ratings are required. Prior military service will help you, but it is also not a requirement.
don't be fooled.. college nor an instrument rating is required for ANY United States Army pilot position.. HOWEVER, like i said, those two things make your packet MUCH more competitive. Think of how many people want to be a pilot, think of how many packets go before the board.. now think of the likelihood of getting selected with college and instrument rating when competing against someone who has 5 years, non aviation related army experience. See my point ;) ALWAYS get the college degree!
You are absolutely right, now think of the flight school classes that start every two weeks. I don not by any means want to say that the standards for getting accepted are lower, but Fort Rucker Flight School graduations happen twice a month, and with the current OPTEMPO of the Army, many senior aviators are getting out, leaving a void to be filled. Don't be fooled.
Your damn straight, right on with the college dude! Always real nice/best to have an intelligent and articulate individual rep'ing the unit!..that said...Cud someone pse get a vid goin with inf/rec callin in TACAIR on a targ, u-know some AH-64's to the tune of Naz's Hair of the Dog

The Little Bird is an awesome aircraft and their pilots are some of the best in the army, but they have different missions than the OH-58D, and the Army will not replace all of the OH-58's with Little Birds.
If anyone wants to know what that facemask is, it is body armor designed to protect the face from small arms fire. Looks like it can carry important bits inside like a mic as well.
I think those masks are to meant keep the airmen from getting windburn, you see em a lot on door gunners/crew chiefs who always have their heads stickin out, also from debris
