  • @mtsusociologist Even without the eye patch he is still Big Boss.

  • Comment removed

  • FOX:By the way, you might want to step away once I'm dead...

  • Sean Connery + Eye Patch=Boss

  • @mtsusociologist Correction Big Boss.

  • @t0mmygun95 i feel inadequate as a gamer

  • Only a true badass explodes when he dies

  • Just like every other Boss in this game.

  • @iamscottchaney That means all the bosses in MGS3 were badass.... Awesome!

  • I like the way they made Snake and the others look in the MGS3 port. They all look like their nomal selves, heh-heh. Fox and Snake were the worst looking ones in this version.

  • Does Snake kinda look like Sylvester Stallone? And is it just me, or is the Boss just Sean Connery in an eyepatch and with a bald of evil?

  • @JelloKZ Snake is Mel Gibson, looks nothing like Sly

  • @ShotanaFilms His appearance was based on kyle reese from terminator

  • @universalsoldierGR44 Thats on the boxart of the FIRST game. That has nothing to do with what we are talking about, I'm referencing this games Codec calls.

  • You mean "Transceiver calls" (the Codec hasn't been invented yet).

  • @ShotanaFilms Oh, I see it now.

  • Running around the room and JABBING ONCE in random directions!

THIS IS HOW MEN SETTLE THEIR DIFFERENCES!

  • @SAMOANmalosi Think about it, he blew up, meaning that his body was scattered into pieces, they never mentioned the scientists not being able to recover anything from his body, meaning that with parts of him, like a head, a hand, and a couple toes, they can still reconstruct gray fox into a cyborg, because it has parts of the old gray fox

  • twilightprincess97 ,please stop mis-informing the people.

  • @filipeflower Misinforming, how so good sir?, please explain

  • Where exactly have you seen that information that Gray Fox was blown to pieces because of a landmine ?

  • @filipeflower If you read my comment carefully I never once stated that he was blown up by a landmine, I said he was "blown up, meaning that his body was scattered into pieces" never once stating how or why he was blown up, maybe he had a time bomb strapped to his chest, like in Metal Gear Solid 1, when you leave the interrogation room, (and im really hoping that your replying to me comment before, so I don't look like an ass:D) so, as i am out of characters, good day sir

  • A lot of people claim (in front of me) that Gray Fox, in this part of the game, was killed because of a landmine he (supposedly) stepped on. They even claim that the MGS4 Database says that. But I still don't believe it. First of all, nothing in the game itself says that. None of the characters make any refference to that what-so-ever. Even the re-translated script from Subsistence Disc 2 (and also from the mobile phones) don't claim that. Secondly, every Boss dies like that.

  • @filipeflower If there where landmines in that room, then wouldn't he have stepped on it earlier? Mostly because he died in a place that he stepped on multiple times (And yes, he lies down before death) and yes, every boss explodes (for some strange reason) after death. (The only boss that would make sense to explode is Metal Gear, and its explosion is melodramatic). Nothing in the series ever states that he blew up from a mine, all they say is that Fox "Blew up" in Zanzibar Land

  • I didn't say he stepped on those (even though several people claim that). In case you haven't noticed, there are mines scattered around that field (they appear as white dots on radar). You can avoid touching those (and apparently Gray Fox avoids those too). According to a certain information source I read, these "explosions" you see whenever a Boss enemy dies in this game was Hideo Kojima's way of paying tribute to the Sentai live-action series (such as JetMan, for example).

  • SLAM ME ON A MINE, NIGHA!

  • I just read through every comment but I still have to ask...Does anyone else think Big Boss looks like Sean Connery?

  • He was based off him.

  • Big boss looks a lot like Sean Connery

  • Dolid Shake.

  • Metal Gear Solid HD Collection only comes with the following

Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater

    Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker

I own the product. Now lets stop argueing and enjoy Metal Gear!

  • We already know that. What're you getting at ?

  • Everyone is argueing over this so Im gonna settle it

I own the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection

It DOES NOT come with Metal Gear Solid 1

It comes with Metal Gear Solid 2, Metal Gear Solid 3, Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker

  • However, the Japanese version, has a voucher which allows you to buy 'Metal Gear Solid' through OnLine methods.

  • 41 dislikes are not true metal gear fans faggots

  • I would kill for a Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake remake for PS3.

  • 0.37

    Fox???

  • best graphiecs i ever saw

  • For those of you watching this video who apyed attention to 07:43 ,don't start thinking that Gray Fox was killed because of a landmine as many people assume. You people seem to ignore the fact that every Boss in this game dies that way. According to what a certain user on YouTube said, this was supposed to be Hideo Kojima's way of paying homage to the sentai tokusatsu series. It's common to see enemies exploding after their defeats in tokusatsu. So don't go assuming that a landmine killed Fox.

  • @filipeflower Snake hurls Fox into a landmine. The Patriots take Fox's mangled body and stick him in the Exoskeleton.

  • Nothing says he hurled him into a landmine (not to mention that you can even pick these up).

  • @PandorianPlacebo actually they are, mgs 3 in the HD collection is the HD version of mgs3: subsistance, which has mg1 and 2 :)

  • Really ? And have you even checked the game's discs, mastahkillah69 ?

  • @filipeflower I think MG and MG2 are part of the HD collection, it says so in the TGS 2011 trailer.

  • Comment removed

  • @filipeflower Yes, it has been announced and confirmed, and it comes out in a couple weeks, so if they changed something and didn't announce it, I'm pretty sure it's false advertisement. I am almost positive that it will be part of the HD collection being included with MGS 3 Subsistence. The thing I don't know is whether it will be the MSX or NES version.

  • @SlimaJames It'll be the MSX version.

  • @SlimaJames It does not, Im sorry to say, I have the HD Collection, it does not

  • @filipeflower and can you stop being an ignorant bastard who thinks he knows all by his own judgement everything about metal gear solid, i don't see why you cant accept that mg1 and 2 are in the HD collection which they are, approved by all the trailers, interviews, and blogs, surely that's good for us all? so please stop protesting against it :L

  • @RandomGuyLtd MGS1 Isnt

Only MGS2 MGS3 And MGS Peace Walker

  • @SlimaJames They arent

  • @Sushidudes Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake for MSX are on the HD Collection, I have it, I've played them both.

  • @SlimaJames Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?! Mine didnt!

  • @Sushidudes Are you sure? It should be on MGS3, on the screen where you load your game there should be things like "New Game", "Load Game" etc. The final two should be "Metal Gear" and "Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake"

  • @SlimaJames I cant find it

  • @filipeflower They remade them, so they arent using the same discs! :L they are putting metal gear 1 and 2 in the metal gear solid 3 disc in the HD collection :)

  • lol 4:19-4:21 typo

  • Christ. Even before the playstation the badguys went on needless monologues that lasted for ages.

  • FROM THIS GAME FORTH, FilmsFromACynic, not from the very first one.

  • About the only thing I really didn't like about this game was the fact that each door could only be opened with a particular ID card and they wouldn't open unless that specific card was in your inventory. How we've come a long way since then.

  • HIDEO KOJIMA AND KONAMI, PLEASE REMAKE THE OLD MG GAMES ON PS3. THATS MY ONLY WISH^^

  • @jeaninemagdziak fuck ps3

    ps2 will be good too

  • @justtosleep why on ps2? on ps3 that game would have the better grafik? Oo like mgs 4

  • @jeaninemagdziak i think they should remake the first metal gear solid on xbox 360 like a new gen game (not like the twin snakes that only had better graphics) and then remake metal gear 1 and 2 on psp... or maybe the opposite, metal gear solid on psp and metal gear 1 and 2 on ps3/x360.. yeah, that would really be awesome.

  • @alabama87 They are! they have actually, theyve made metal gear solid:HD collection which is for xbox 360 and ps3 and is metal gear, metal gear 2, metal gear solid 2, and metal gear solid 3, all in one game, and it comes out in november :) hope this made you happy! :)

  • I just hope he doesn't mess up this time.

  • @jeaninemagdziak they are you goon search metal gear solid HD colelction, its on ps3 and xbox 360 and comes out next month its mg mg2 mgs2 and mgs3 all in one disc.... google it :) it comes out next month

  • I thought snake and grey fox were meant to fight in a minefield?

  • @mooplad69 it is a minefield if u move out the middle theres mines all round the outside

  • They did fought barehanded in a minefield.

  • @filipeflower I dno I always pictured like a battle where you would have to avoid mines and stuff whilst fighting,I guess this was made years back though and graphic capabilities etc were pretty limited :P

  • @mooplad69 this is the FIRST fight with gray fox.... the Second was in a minefield

  • @EvilRebeX Ahhh i see,sorry man i didn't actually know they had two battles! my bad :p

  • @mooplad69 I wasn't gonna respond to his comment but now that someone actually believes it I have to step in. This is the only battle but "minefield" was a little overstated, there are mines along the wall in the small room, you see them as white dots on the radar.

  • @HannesHansen ahh no worries man,i didnt know like as i have only heard about it from playing mgs1 when snake talks about it on his codec.my bad :P

  • @mooplad69 There was some mines in there, invisible claymore mines. They are the little white dots shown on the radar.

  • @mooplad69

It IS a minefield. But try rendering that on an MSX.

  • Comment removed

  • @mooplad69 It was supposed to be...

  • Metal gear and metal gear solid are on the same Srry line !

  • the music is fucking awesome

  • this game is a Legend

  • Otacon, do you think love can bloom on a battlefield?

  • @FoxhoundVideoGames Yeah. I do. I think at any time, any place, people can fall in love with each other. But if you love someone, you have to be able to protect them.

  • Now we can fight as true warriors! Hand-to-hand! It is the basis of all combat. Only a fool trusts his life to a weapon.

That line is pounded into my head after the countless times of fighting Gray Fox on Extreme during MGS1

  • Ah... THIS is what otacon was talking about. Now I see.

  • I'd like a remake of this title for ps3 ^_^

  • @emmeGaful ¬¬ google metal gear solid HD collection... it will make you happy

  • in MGS1 didnt snake say they fought in a minefield...

  • @gigaty123

mgs series is full of retcons

  • They did fought in a minefield. And a small one at that.

  • Now I know why Grey Fox says "hurt me more on mgs1". He let's snake punches him while he walks all around on this game. lol.

  • gray fox died when licuid snake smushed him

  • man that gray fox battle looked rediculously easy. even for a game this old :/

  • lol at 5:45 grey fox is punching the air infront of snake and snakes looking at him like ?? wtf

  • i need that track in the beginning 05 to 26 Thanks :D:D:D

  • Snake = Micheal Beihn

Grey Fox = Tom berenger from Platoon

    Big Boss = Sean Connery

  • Actually, Snake was based off of Kyle Reese.

  • Only on the cover, MastaGambit . Only on the cover.

  • Sean Connery played big boss, lololoollz

  • MY WORDS EXACTLY!!!

  • Here Snake!

  • I wonder if snake is as racist as his real life counter part.

  • They should really remake the first two mgs games

  • Or maybe not .

  • Am I the first to notice Big Boss' similarity with Sean Connery?

  • Gray Fox looks kinda like a younger Tom Berenger too

  • Become a well-trained hunter

Run back and forth during a fight

  • kessler= dolph lundgren hahaha

  • Big Boos Looks like Count Douku from star wars with an eye patch, Also, Did Solid Snake Seriously Destroy Metal Gear With ONLY Gernades? are u fu**ing Serious! If octacon got an orgy about talking about Snake Destroying a tank with Gernades Wait till he heres about this!! lol

  • Aside from grenades, Snake also used remote-controlled missiles.

  • SNAKE IS MEL GIBSON

  • @marstazzz idk, he looks like Michael Biehn to me

  • @SinistaMinista666

on the cover of the game he looks like michael biehn

  • @marstazzz I saw this magazine once that had people picked to play the characters if they turned it into a live action movie, they had Michael playing Snake and Jet Li playing the Cyber Ninja, to me it seems like Snake was based on Kurt Russell's character from "Escape From New York", I mean his fake name in MGS2 was Iroquois Pliskin lol, "Snake" Pliskin lol

  • @SinistaMinista666

yep, youre right, awesome film btw

kojima was all day alone at home as a kid, just watching movies.(his father was member of the yakuza i heard)

thats maybe why mgs is so much influenced by movies

even in the game peace walker, kojima character description mentions that 70% of his existence is made of movies^^

  • @marstazzz I wonder if that's why the characters from Contra look like Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone

  • What exactly is that magazine ?

  • @filipeflower damn, I wanna say it was Maxim, it was around the time Sons of Liberty came out

  • i beat mg 1 but never mg 2...im not talking about the nintendo one.

  • Comment removed

  • 8:11 Sean Connery! i mean, Big Boss!, i mean Solidus!

  • 0:25-0:33 Snakes says WIIIII

  • I want a remake!!!

  • According to Big Boss, there can be only one.

  • WTF is up with the translation in this game? People who don't speak a language natively shouldn't be allowed to translate in that language. All of the characters sound retarded.

  • @ninjast4r

Uhm, it's a fan translation. Back then, we couldn't really 'wait' for some native speakers to translate it since MSX2 was practically non-existent in the UK or US. We were extremely thankful these guys did the job so we could at least follow what was happening without having to learn Japanese.

  • Big Boss = Sean Connery?

  • @AdanRules66 Awwww, is the wittle baby annoyed that he cant read?

  • Maybe it's just me, but that fist fight between Snake and Fox looks like a one-sided Whack-a-Mole game.

So much for the epicness I wanted to see, lol.

  • I think I would seriously nut up if Kojima remade Metal Gear 1 and 2 with today's graphical capabilities. The insanity and amount of sales it would bring in.

  • @rockroc1 I agree with you. I would like to see Metal Gear 1 and 2 remade.

  • Actually Solid Snake was based on Kyle Reese from TERMINATOR...

  • @peleking352

He was a pastiche of contemporary action movie heroes: Michael Biehn (MG cover), Mel Gibson (in game portrait in MG2SS) and was named after Snake Plissken (EFNY)

  • Been playing and the game has been degrading itself as I play on my pirated copy.

I may have a creepypasta in the making on my hands

  • "Whoever wins, the battle will no end. The loser shall be freed from the Battlefield, but the winner stays. He´ll be a warrior until his death".

I believe that this is what The Boss Said to Big Boss when she was defeated in Russia, in MGS3 Snake Eater.

  • Why does the VS Metal Gear boss theme reminds me of Metal Gear Ghost Babel's Boss theme?

  • Wait, wait...

"You were always my big rival in Fox-Hound"?

Weren't they friends? Or should we not believe MGS?

  • @awlawla Rivals can be friends too, y'know. Example, Ryu and Ken.

  • @awlawla Most of the discrepancies are likely out of retconning in MGS.

  • awlawla ,I don't think you understand Solid Snake and Gray Fox's concept of "friendship".

  • Some interesting fact I've heard is that Big Boss is half american and half Japanese.

He does look like Japanese with blue eyes. And btw, gray fox in his prime would beat the crap out of solid snake. Big boss and gray fox are way past their prime.

  • Grey Fox exploded...?

  • @nickmasterx maybe his head hit a delayed mine.

  • @nickmasterx All the bosses did that in Metal Gear 2. I think MGS3 attempted to pay homage to that with the Cobra unit, while at the same time giving a story based reason for it.

  • Except that 'Metal Gear Solid '3 did that lieterally, while this only happened symbolically .

  • @nickmasterx He stepped on a land mine. That's why they retrieved his body parts and was made into the cyborg ninja.

  • Comment removed

  • @grayfox189 You're mis-informed about that.

  • @filipeflower Why are you on pretty much every video related to mgs? lol

  • (oh, please, don't tell me you've been stalking me) I'm not really on every MGS video, just on some of those. Besides, that's not really your concern. Also, that is not the answer I was waiting for.

  • 7:44

when I die, I want my goddamn corpse to explode...

thats also what I want on my tombstone for an epitaph

"when I died, my goddamn corpse exploded..."

  • I actually like the faces in this version. It annoys me that Kojima pulled a George Lucas and changed them all in the PS2 port. That shit was lower than when Lucas put Hayden Christensen into the end of Return of the Jedi.

  • @ReloadPsi To be fair, they probably had to change them due to copyright reasons, that was less of a problem on an obscure japanese only MSX2 release back in the early 90's.

  • @HannesHansen Snake and Big Boss I could understand, but who was Miller supposed to resemble?

  • @ReloadPsi not sure if serious?

  • @ReloadPsi True dat.

  • @ReloadPsi This is the original way it was in japan, the original on nintendo had a different into and he made faces that resemble sean connery and sylvester stallone for the us version. Which is lame because, stallone doesn't resemble big boss at all ....

  • @superveggito2000 No it wasn't. There never WAS a US version of this game until the PS2 port. The Japanese version had the nigh-infringement faces. The only English version of the original is a fan-translation, which obviously wouldn't change any faces.

  • big boss looks like sean connery

  • 4:32 the guy mentions grey fox had a relationship in the east, could he be reffering to grey fox'es unofficial sister "Naomi Hunter"

  • hey dude im just wondering where u got this fan translated mod i like the game but i cant read japanese and would like to know the story

  • Seisure at 3:08

  • Is this some sort of sick joke? Snake looks like a frightened Will Ferrel.

  • lets call Kojima up and force him to remake these msx versions... then end the series after that

  • Don't force him. He'll just call his security to knowck you guys out .

  • @marcusthedog yes

  • i really love how in MGS 4 they made big boss look like the big boss from this game haha

  • Lol, these REALLY old game types can be funny as heck..Like the " Floor trap " Where snake falls down the pipe in the floor...And when " METAL GEAR " Moves around.
