Maaaaaaan this track was the jam and still is and if you keep listening to it, you will hear Lighter Shade Of Brown, and tracks in todays muzic........wow!
VERY BEAUTIFUL AND TALENTED THE LEAD VOCALIST ON THIS TRACK WAS A TRANSGENGER FEMALE WHO ROY AYERS DID NOT KNOW ABOUT HER SECRET UNTIL ONE OFF THE BAND MEMBERS REVEAL IT / I WONDER HOW HE KNEW, GUESS !
unbelievable groove he has going here - i love loads of his stuff but this is probably my favourite. I was a bit young (didn't start going to 82/83) but would have loved to have been at a Caister weekender in the funk room when this was new.
Jazzy, you need to bring yourself over to my house and help me clean up since it's your fault I'm doing more dancing and singing than cleaning! This type music brings back good memories and makes me feel young again!!!!!!!! Let me "clean it to the right-clean it up and down- AWWWWWWWW @ 3:59 lol lol Thanks much man!! :-)
SMOKIN jazz funk from another place called DISCO SOUL 70'S STYLE.. hey jazzyman DONT STOP THE FEELING BRU.. keep em comin.. this one here is a true keeper for life.. sounds as FRESH as it did in its infant stages.. OUTTA SIGHT..pEACE pORT!!
Chaka has influenced modern music so much, She is Modern Music!!! Another one of her Khan-Klones doing a fair imitation!!! She was slated to sing on this as well as Jamaica Funk,Don't Look Any Further,What Is Your Fantasy,Street Life,Addicted To Love & a slew of other songs but Evil Warner Bros. wasn't having it!
when in my crazy years i got my ass at "Le Palace" (Paris France), Deejays (Guy Cuevas / Serge Kroutchey) use to play that ace track regularly, it was the signal to the floor- dancers- killers, so you've got to have your own pretty good routine & the balls that comes with... if not, you received the total "disregard / lousyness" looks, meaning : get off that floor dumb ass !
@ryanromanski If you know about this music then maybe you were here in another life. It was a different world then I am 50. What you know Bootsy Collings?
@slave2alimony i dont know to many producers that well. i listen to a lot of old philly disco mixes.. im all about ron hardy, frankie knuckles, larry levan.. but one of my old favorite producers was arthur russell.. im a huge chicago house music fan/dj.. so i got love for the old skool
Summer of "79", ahhh, every Summer house set played this one in the "Windy City". I remember it fondly! Everyone would jump up to "Spank" and many would retire before the song concluded. "Me", I was interested in the young ladies that were still on the floor, they had energy & spunk. Well in to the morning, if you know what I mean. :)
I'm happy to say that it was the one who brought the voice to this song. Early one morning in New York my sister Mondee Oliver (R.I.P) and I crash the session..Roy never heard my sister sing. I Threw her in the studio to the sound of this track.. and this was birth of "DON'T STOP THE FEELING" ...We did another track which to this day I have been asking Roy to release which I think could have been bigger than "Don't Stop" title 'So Sexy"
