Hola, otra vez.
Hi again Alex - just taken delivery of "Back to the Pavilion" and "Antiques" - had a long car trip today to listen to them - excellent stuff - Antiques has more guitar on it, and Back to the Pavilion has elements of the Geese and the Ghost. Thanks for the recommendations. Rgds - Philip
I applaud you liked those albums Philip. Back to the pavillion is quite a singular and heterodox one (as in many of the PP&P series) but I love it anyway. If you still desire to explore Ant's music try "New England" next, it's fabulous.
One correction on a comment I made before, "Slow Dance" is not exclusively done with synths at all. Ant uses other instruments apart from keyboards although these are quite predominant throughout the whole album.
not heard this one before, which AP album is this off? I only have "The Geese and the Ghost" and "Slow waves, soft stars" - can you recommend some more albums? I don't just want to dive in anywhere - I prefer his guitar playing to his noodling with various synthesizers. Good playing as ever!
having not heard all of his albums I'd reccomend you some of his earlier solo work which is what I know better, apart from his latest "Field Day" you can't miss "Back to the Pavillion" or "Antiques" if you want to go mainly for guitar. This piece featured here is off "New England" a more recent album which is a very fine album to me.
As for non guitar-focused albums I'd go for "Slow Dance" (caution: only synthesizers here) and "Tarka" (orchestral fantasy).
If you have the opportunity try to listen to a piece entitled "Tregenna Afternoons" from his first Private Parts and Pieces which for me is an absolutely overwhelming masterpiece with extraordinary guitar playing.
Thank you Tony, don't worry I have other pieces under the sleeve, I'm just going to temporarily move to other stuff for "variety's sake"! I don't even know if that's a correct expression...
Además lleva otra afinación o me equivoco?

I agree. "New England" is one of my Ant's fav albums.
And you're a terrific guitar player. But I guess you already knew that!
;-)
By the way, do you know how to play "Infra Dig" or "Pressgang"? It would be great!

Thanks Bflat! "Infra Dig" would be very cool, I haven't tried to play it yet but I'm sure they both must have altered tunings.
