I believe in Pro Choice before conception, Pro Life after! I would punish the doctor and I would put them in jail like you do anyone who kills in America. This is kind of off topic, but why call pro-abortion something like pro-choice? It is pro-choice for the woman, but not necessarily pro-choice for the man. Should women have the right to overturn the man's decision in this matter? There isn't an easy answer from any point of view. The anti-choice and anti-life labels make people who usually have a moral basis for their views appear evil.

My stance: If the woman doesn't want to have the baby, but the man does, then he should have to pay for her cost of living and medical expenses until the term is over. But I used to work for a victims assistance program, as the statistician, and I can tell you that rape and incest are crimes that are grossly under-reported. Can you imagine if a young girl or woman had to not only report, but PROVE she was raped repeatedly by her father since she was 10, in order to terminate her pregnancy?
The reason rape and incest are under-reported, is for a few reasons...#1. There's alot of shame associated with rape. Most women just want to forget about it. #2. The criminal justice system often victimises the accuser AGAIN! Very few are brave enough to go through it a second time in court. #3. the biggest risk group for rape are women between 11 & 19 years of age. The second biggest risk group are children under 11.
Are we to victimise young women again by forcing them to have a child who is the result of rape? What about the child? What about the victim? The 1940's and 50's are evidence enough that it should be within a woman's right to terminate a pregnancy without having to jump through hoops for the state. I'm not willing to legislate the conditions...except perhaps later term abortions.

@ashedivy: There are several reasons to be pro choice. Medical: If giving birth to the fetus, later baby, would be a hazard to the woman, the baby or both, wouldn´t it be better not to put 1-2 lifes at risk?
Social: If a baby is a result of a rape, think about what kind of burden this is to the mother, psychologically I mean. Eventually enough for her to kill the infant later.

Can you spell "rape"? As much as I agree, that one should understand the consequences of sex (and a lot of teens don't, due to AO programs), I see no reason for not remedying accidents, that happen. Aborting is the responsible thing to do, if you are unwilling or unable to raise a child.

We don't have to talk about cases of rape/incest (though they shouldn't be ignored). I take issue with your calling fetuses babies because a baby implies a being separate from its mother. This is kind of off topic, but why call pro-abortion something like pro-choice? It is pro-choice for the woman, but not necessarily pro-choice for the man. Should women have the right to overturn the man's decision in this matter? There isn't an easy answer from any point of view. The anti-choice and anti-life labels make people who usually have a moral basis for their views appear evil.
I say that there should be limits imposed, but not for the same reasons as most people.

My stance: If the woman doesn't want to have the baby, but the man does, then he should have to pay for her cost of living and medical expenses until the term is over. After all, they were both involved. If the woman was raped, she should have full choice. However, should she be married, a rape kit should be required.

I believe my examples allow people their rights, while allowing those of different moral standings their personal choice. Men shouldn't have to pay child support for a child they didn't want, nor should women. There will always be costs. Sometimes they require the forfeit of choice.

I never said that the woman doesn't carry the baby. In a perfect world, we wouldn't have to worry about disagreements between consenting adults. We don't live in a perfect world. Prior to birth control and abortion, people often had to suffer regardless of their desires. With abortion, some still suffer. I believe in compensation in some cases, while I also believe in choice among adults who are in agreement.
I don't take my views from Democrats or Republicans. Both sides oversimplify.

But I used to work for a victims assistance program, as the statistician, and I can tell you that rape and incest are crimes that are grossly under-reported. The reason rape and incest are under-reported, is for a few reasons...#1. There's alot of shame associated with rape. Most women just want to forget about it. #2. The criminal justice system often victimises the accuser AGAIN! Very few are brave enough to go through it a second time in court. #3. the biggest risk group for rape are women between 11 & 19 years of age. The second biggest risk group are children under 11.

Besides wanting the freedom of my own body lets look at what would happen if abortion wasn't legal
1. All fetal deaths would have to be investigated including miscarriages, which would be costly to tax payers and hard on the parents.
2. "Back alley" abortions would return which we all know killed a lot of women, so much for the sanctity of life argument.
3. Rape victims would be reminded daily of the crime everyday for at least 9 months, or for life if they kept the child.

In the United States, a woman is raped every 6 minutes. (Crime Victims Research and Treatment Center of the National Victims Center, 1992) That's from 1992, but unfortunately I doubt it's changed all that much.
I also found that 1 in 4 women will be raped in their lifetime, and 84% of rape victims were attacked by someone they knew. Just disgusting.

Especially since the Brain and Nerve cells that allow the feeling of pain don't develop until after the 3rd trimester begins. The brain that would determines how something feels and relates back to you takes years to develop. Actually that bitching about the grammar seems common on both sides. It is something I generally avoid, unless the person is mocking someone's intelligence and destroying grammar and spelling themselves. Then I will point out their own failings. But here we are not talking about business letters, just youtube comments. So I agree with you on this point.

In response to VoiceOfModeration: that is why in Canada there are safe-injection sites for heroin addicts in low-income neighborhoods. It prevents the spread of disease. Nobody who is pro-choice uses it as a form of birth control, only as a last resort. And cutting women off from it doesn't stop anything, it only increases the number of women who die from unsafe, sketchy procedures.

Sperm cells and egg cells are alive but they're not human beings. Its the sperm and the egg together that make their own human being. In Christianity, masturbation is of course forbidden, but thats because you're supposed to be pure for your wedding day and because lust is wrong. Not because you're "killing half-a-child" or anything like this.

The unborn child cannot survive outside of the womb, but then a fully developed newborn child similarily will die if left without care.
The word "fetus" means small child, and, after three months of growth nothing new develops. At nine months, the unborn child is more mature, but then a 5-year-old is more mature than a 2-year-old. Are 2 year olds not quite children yet?

The unborn child is unique from the point of conception, with its own DNA and a genomic character that is entirely separate from any other person. From the moment of conception onwards, the child has ITS OWN 46 chromosones. It's supposed to be the number of chromosones that determines the specie type.

Most of the pro-choice arguments, being that they are based on murdering the innocent and helpless, are entirely spurious, such as the point about abortion in the case of rape and incest. Such tragedies provide less than 1% of the reasons for abortion and they are mentioned by abortion advocates simply to make pro-lifers appear extreme.
We should ask if those who support the abortion holocaust in these exceptional cases would oppose it when rape and incest are not the causes of pregnancy.

Okay first of all I have a child and I know the first thing about being pregnant and I worked up until I had my child, its not impossible to work while being pregnant millions do it....second most states help single parents make ends meet and if the mother doesn't want the child there are so many people wanting childeren and they cannot have them..Do you know how hard and expensive it is to adopt a child in the U.S.

@ashedivy: There are several reasons to be pro choice. Medical: If giving birth to the fetus, later baby, would be a hazard to the woman, the baby or both, wouldn´t it be better not to put 1-2 lifes at risk?
Social: If a baby is a result of a rape, think about what kind of burden this is to the mother, psychologically I mean. Eventually enough for her to kill the infant later.
Btw, I don´t think that abortion is good, I only think that sometimes there is no alternative to it...

I have pretty much had it with prolifers using dishonest language to suggest, that a fetus is in no way different then what is generally perceived as a human being. You are glorifying what at that stage is little more than biological machinery to a full term person.

In fact, I wouldn't even care for my own non existence pretty much the same way, a fetus does not care, because it can't. And in short, that is what separates person from machine.

Try some intuition here: A person has personality. Personality requires something, not present at all in early pregnancy (or in prolifers for that matter) and is not in a working state till very late pregnancy.

I agree that is not realistic, thats why people need to be realize that, even with condoms and birth control pills, you can still get pregnant and think about the consequences before they lay down with each other.

Can you spell "rape"? As much as I agree, that one should understand the consequences of sex (and a lot of teens don't, due to AO programs), I see no reason for not remedying accidents, that happen. Aborting is the responsible thing to do, if you are unwilling or unable to raise a child.

However, there are still other alternatives, like giving the child up for adoption. It's not the child's fault they were placed in that situation.

It's not convenient for me to raise a child now, even though it was convenient for me to open my legs to have sex KNOWING that was not ready to have a child." The sad thing is these women can have multiple abortions because it was not the right time to have a child but the right time to have sex.
