I would have worked on making her features a lot bolder. Maybe define her eyebrows more. Make her eyes pop with a little bot of color. It sorta looks like her eyes are just hovering over her skin.

the eyeliner.u just use the brush and play around with the opacity.search for a tutorial or something on how to change the skin.

@Cullenisem to soften the skin - blur tool eyeliner, new layer, draw it with a brush and change the layer opacity (open layer panel ctrl + L) gimp xx

@Cullenisem you can use the brush tool as well, but before applying the "eyeliner" on the eyes, make a new layer set to "tranparency". once you drew the eyeliner, set the layer to "opacity" and then Filters>Blur>Gaussian Blur, play with the level of the blur according to your preferences. look for tutorials here in YT on how to apply make-up using GIMP, what i just told you works well for me...

@Cullenisem cont.: to achieve a smooth or "airbrushed" effect on the skin you may use the Smudge took set to a 15-20% rate with a fuzzy brush. but prior to "smoothening" the skin, you may remove dark spots/blemishes using the CLone Stamp Tool. search for Malgalin's videos, i learned the basics of GIMP from him.

In the picture the light source is poor, so you shouldn't whiten her eyes so much, otherwise you should lighten the background more. Also, I thought adding eye lashes wasnt necessary, should of just darken them. Just some advice, with enough practice, you will have it pat down.

dude, her hair is highlighted, her teeth and whites of her eyes are brighter, her skin is spotless & ultra-smooth, her eyelashes were longer, she had eye-shadow added and her lips are a more natural colour (natural as in expected).

And I watched the retouching process after the comparison. how did you NOT notice ANY of that, even after watching him do it all??
