I am a Kashmiri Pandit and we always regard Guru Tegh BAHADUR as our SAVIOR. The only reason that we still have the Kashmiri Pandit culture today is because of the "Kurbaanis" made by Guru Tegh Bahadur and his countless soldiers for MY people. Him and his army fought for our rights against the Muslims, especially Aurungzeb and became Martyrs in the process. May God almighty bless the Guru and his soldiers with eternal peace. Long live the legacy of this TRUE BAHADUR!

Vidya = Knowledge

Knowledge of weapons from what I have heard, there is also unarmed combat taught in the form of shastar vidya too.

shasta vidija is the root of gatka. it was explored thousands of years ago. Gatka was founded by the Sikhs fighting in English army for practicing their skills - but the British shouldn`t see all of their knowledge. So gatka is just part of shasta vidija - and it`s a bit different.

yea shastar vithea means knowledge about shastars(on how to use them, maybe origin as well) so Gatka is a part of Shaster vithea, but in general it is the same thing because gatka has caused us to win every battle we went into....if a man can take on 1 000 000 even if he looses he still won bc he had the guts to fight!
