Correct me if I'm wrong ..., flute is rarely used in blues tunes right? It's more familiar in jazz. But Mayall used it instead ..., which makes this song unique.
thats david stienberg , he was great in the film the end , with sally fields , burt reynolds , and the late , great dom deloweeze . today , david stienberg directs, curb your enthusiasm !!
Lenny Bruce was a controversial political satyrist, like Mort Sahl and Dick Gregory, whose sharp tongue and sarcasm was often misunderstood and more harshly criticised because of his free thinking, and often random dialogue, which veered in obscentity. He was arrested for profanity for using 'schmuck' ( a Yiddish slang) at a gig in California. Lenny was known for relating the details of his encounters with police, & ranted he was denied 'freedom of speech' under the 1st Amendment.
@frxvt John Mayall was making a comment on the civil rights violations which were rampant at the time. Like he says, "the laws should fit the crime'. I'm guessing you weren't alive back then, through the civil rights era of the late 50s through the 70s when things were changing quickly but there were still serious violations of civil liberties. Especially on students who were protesting the Vietnam War and the murders of JFK, RFK & MLK. John was just making comment about the life & times. :)
I started playing the flute and then sax in 1973. The first band I played in around '75 our front man turned me on to this album 'Turning Point'. We both wished I could be half as good as Johnny Almond and while I'm still playing to this day, Johnny A is one of the champions of the flute and sax and here he is in action! Playing with a man that I've seen ten times over the years and always dug, the great John Mayall. This is priceless video. Thanks for posting this Cactus!
