This has to be one of the most beautiful fighter jet ever imo. Russian planes are macho and powerfull, not like most american "girly" looking planes, except for the F-14, F-4 and SR-71. Nice video buy the way the music fits perfectly with the featured video.

the only reason why US had all advances before the rest of the world in military such as the 1st in many things is because they control the international money supply of USD. Mig-23 were very good aircraft, although looking crude, they kicked better looking F-16 out of the sky verry well with Syria I think (I might be mistaken).

The Soviets were always smarter than the Yanks. Even crude designed planes like the MiG 25 provided the USSR with an advantage that America could not challenge.

Then came along the MiG 29 which was the worlds most superior dog fighter for 20 years. Or perhaps the SU-27 and its other varients.

America stole British Jet engine designs too, and the yanks also stole the technology that allowed them to break the sound barrier. Britain was sharing info with the US, but the Pentagon cut them off and made the flight before the British pilot who really found out how the break the sound barrier could make his flight.

Unlike Britain and the USSR, America never really accomplished anything on its own. It was largely foreign scientists and alot of Nazis captured after the war who did it.

russia had been working on their advanced engines before the brits were...they made their own engines..and remodeled a brit engine for a mig-15...but the rest they used soviet based engines.

I think the MiG-23 was successful because it was affordable and built in huge numbers in the Soviet Union. The pilots visablity was very poor but 5 MiG-23's against 1 F16 or 1 F-15 is bound to win.

I am a lover of the MIG series, but I must say that the MIG 23, despite it's advance aperance, was probably of the worst migs built. Good Migs were: Mig 15, Mig 17, Mig 21, Mig 25 and Mig 29. The others: 23, 27, and 31 were not that good.

i agree completely apart from the mig-31 foxhound-official figures suggest that it would take just SIX to patrol the entire uk coastline, due to thier range and payload capabilities. Sure, its not the most manouverable aircraft, but its radar/missile package is a world beater, and its damn fast!

@dariussaulenas Most experienced maybe (nobody terrorize world that much as USA). Maybe they has best adverts (hollywood 20:0 ratio is nothing special). But in war games with Indian AF they got their asses kicked really hardly (mostly Su-30MKI vs F15s F16s and F/A 18s). Even great USAF pilots admitted after that wargame that they got pwned (there were some excuses that they could't used BVR tactics and missiles). Anyway armies more rely on drones, so in future is dark... give a 6year old gun..

The Soviets found out the same thing that the U.S. did with the F-111. A jet designed to be all things, for all missions, will suck at all of them. Neither was a good bomber, fighter, or interceptor, and the swing-wing was a maintenance nightmare. The F-111 almost went through its entire service life without having an official nickname. "Aardvark" was a half-hearted last-minute effort to name the F-111 before retiring it.

the engine wasnt snatched-it was bought. Frank Whittle invented the jet engine, then the British goverment ignored it for years, to the point where we ended up having to play catch up to countries that we had sold the tech to (Typical British beurocratic cock-up, just like the BAC TSR-2). Im pretty convinced it was the mig-15 that had the british engine( Rolls-Royce Nene, i think), but i have been wrong before!!

The Brits were even dumb enough to allow the Soviets take a tour of the RR jet engine factory itself. On the tour, the designers wore special shoes that allowed them to pick up particles from machining. They took the particles back to the USSR and analyzed them to determine which materials and alloys were used in constructing the RR engine. I imagine Truman was furious when he heard about the pool game. Stalin believed the Brits were idiot fools. That's because they really were idiot fools.
