those actual gears inside the gearbox don't look strong, they look like the same plastic that my cyma cm.023 uses :\ and the gearbox shell looks like the same plastic too, did cyma upgrade the plastics quality? or does that have higher quality plastics? because i have had my crappy cyma for almost 2 years now and the gears are still in like new shape! it should have broke in 1 month! ill be dancing if they upgraded it to lexan :D
no some are made of metal but the "clear" stuff is actually lexan, its found on their m249 series it is a very good quality material. lexan is used in prisons as cell walls
I wish the STAR M249 Para was cheaper. Stupid Ehobby Asia having it for $200.

the gears are metal. only the shell is plastic, and it is aircraft grade, and in my opinion, is better than just straight metal

Incorrect - Many STAR airsoft models use the Polycarbon gearbox.
