  • Great example!~ Thanks for sharing!~ The key point that stood out to me was that his listening had to be active, meaning, he had to watch their actions too, to understand the context of the words he picked up. It was like a deaf person who learns to speak by reading lips rather than with sign language. He watched their mouth movements as well as their actions to help him grasp the words. I too am audio-visual, so audio programs with textbooks work in much the same manner for my retention.

  • @DeeyahJauWann yes, very true! active listening as apposed to just listening to a casset or cd, which is also beneficial, but to maximize our efforts we need to hear and see language in its proper cultural context. i think that's very important. good point sir! thank you
