@thuylanortiz No hey are not loud 24/7! They are early birds which means they sleep early and wake up early to..some are noisy but in general,parakeets are NOT very noisy at all. They go to sleep at like around 6pm and wake up at like 8am or something...you must pay attention to them! if they don't like something or they want some attention,they will likey just chirp. They sing(chirp) in the mornings but wouldnt make a racket at night.(cover them with a towl at night and that shut em up):)

We just got two parakeets today. How long does it take them to be comfortable? Right now they are just standing there and not moving. We also got their wings clipped because we have a four year old daughter and she likes to open the door, etc and we do not want them to fly away.

@TheRaecat25 leave your parakeet alone for 2-3 days. They won't eat for a while until they are comfortable. clipping their wings is fine but just note that their wings do grow back! more info on google or just search up more stuff on here(i recommend google or wikipedia for more info about parakeets cuz alot of ppl including myself say inacurate info.)

@charmlover0708 Parakeets are great birds for beginners! they need lts of attention but if you have 2 then they will entertain eachother parakeets are great pets for kids and they are easy to clean for and train! clippng their wings is recommended also if you want to take them out. some parakeets are noisy but not ofenly! They are early birds but they just chirp or sing to eachother hardly. if they dont like something or want attention,they will make some noise(put a towel over their cage)

I have 2 Parakeets and they keeping breeding . We have at least 9 Parakeets now . Ever since they started breeding , the female's feathers keep falling off . Is that a common thing ?

@MrPandaPancakes well i suggest you search online more about that but when parakeets breed,some feathers DO come out/off. Some females collect their feathers and put them in their nest or whereever they have their eggs to make it more warm and comfortable.

It does happen to some parakeets but i think you should get some more info about that...my parakeets never layed eggs and they flew away when they were about to so i really can't answer that...Sorry :(

I recommend you train one then get another one and put it in another cage so you can train that one then put them in the same cage so they can mate. It's easier to train one budgie because they might miss each other and they might not want to get out.

My first pet was a parakeet. Got him when I was 8 years old, somehow he was tame when I got him (perching on my finger and staying on my shoulder and play with my hair). It's always fun being able have your parakeet perched on your finger, instead of just watching him from the cage because they seem scared =/. Taming your bird is totally worth the patience :). I miss him.

Thank you for your comments. Yes, wing clipping can be pretty scary but a necessity so your bird doesnt fly away! Definitely ask a vet to do it or to show you how. And, since your bird was a stray and looks disheveled, its very important to have a vet do a through check-up. And dont give up yet on hand taming. Most Parakeets can be hand tamed but it takes some time. Being a single bird, the more attention you give him/her .. the better!

Well here's the deal, If they are BABY FEMALES they will have blue ceres with alittle white and as ADULTS they have tan but while in breeding mode its brown and crusty looking. The boys on the other hand as babies have PINK ceres and as adult they are plain blue.
