I loved winback 1 so much that when I saw this I just had to get it. Let me tell you, everything he says in this review is completely accurate. They wanted to have mgs-like gameplay but failed horribly. The multiplayer wouldn't be half bad, in fact it would be a reason to pick this up, if every map wasn't a box, I kid you not every map is a damn box that is no bigger than a few feet. If you're too close to your opponent you can't melee, but to escape being shot you can run circles around them..

@VictorTheSuperHero It's not just them. It's the same problem with mainstream reviewers in general whether its IGN, GameSpot, or Game Informer. And DON'T even think about getting me started with G4 who is probably dead now. If any mainstream reviewer these days that can appreciate games such as Kirby and/or Earthbound is Nintendo Power. Why? Despite the fact that NP is the ONLY mainstream source where you can find complete UNBIASED reviews, at the least bit, they have 100% dedication.

Basically what I saying is no one seems to like games like MGS2 and 3, syphon filter, and dead to rights were you need to stop in place to do percise aiming (I'm not encluding the atuo that you can move and shoot in)

Because different characters add to the depth and ambience of the game regardless of what they fucking perform. Whoever reviewed this game was serious coming off of a serious high,hitting an all time low and happened upon this game and decided to rip it to shreds.

I've played Koei games, and they all have a production value, although limited, is not quiet perfect, but for KOEI's humbled beginnings would make it an honorable attempt at making a decent game.

Considering KOEI's humbled beginnings.

Koei should seriously look into some business management hiring and become the next ubisoft.

hold on now that i look back on this, the reviewer who critiqed this game is actually pretty stupid, the games based on tactical movements, cover shooting is what you do and the opening movie was just an over exaggeration, just something to make it look cool, the graphics are good and if you run out without looking or getting cover you deserve to get shot, fucking critics....

The critics are partly right though. It's hard with the controls to move from cover to cover. It's sad that you can't use grenades and enemy AL is "too smart for you"! Also, no checkpoints? The original game had checkpoints but this one didn't? The voice acting sounded more like that annoying Microsoft Sam does. My last remark is this, the story is the same. They just tossed in some more details that might not have been necessary.

I agree with sukotu that this is a cover shoot game because that's one of the reason this game was very cool to begin with. I think the problem was is that it didn't use creative ways to cover and shoot. For example, shooting in close and wide range areas allowing for sniper gun battles, levels with different landscapes, destructible cover areas like thin boxes,etc.
