  • And i take it the city is cutting stations

  • Is Gary anything like Detroit with problems such as arson and poor community

  • @eh7fdboy Yes on both counts, most of the fires are ruled arson.

  • From the looks of this department, I'd say that they are a dam good department.. I just don't care for the guys actions at 2:37-40.. What was he thinking by going inside without a pack on and then coming back out??

  • As far as I seen Gary does it the right way go and get the shit hell ya

  • just wandering why did it take so long to get a hoseline on the ground? the very first equipment of our truck is scba's and crosslays

  • Nobody uses deck guns anymore....sometimes they are called for.

  • If you don't work or live in Gary and especially if you don't like Gary or it's people, then I have this to say to you all KISS OUR ASS AND SUCK ALL THE SHIT FROM IT.! I am a Gary fireman and who cares what you or any one of you think or beleive. Now run tell that you tell everything elseI

  • Well said, I am buying because you deserve a drink. Remember, most comments are from armchair firefighters that have a million dollar budget for the quarter. If they only knew

  • @jlwmeme - Cheers to you - You're entitled to the attitude. You guys are braver than brave and my hat's off to you.

  • They put holes in the roof for ventilation, this lets the flamable gas out and draws the fire away from the Firefighters. The bigger the fire the more water you need, usually in a case where theres that much fire that means ample amounts of fuel or things to burn. The large diameter hoses can pump up to 1200 gallons of water a minute. Trust me, aside from foam water works the best on fires. You are more than welcome to ask questions, check out the fire from tonight. Big one. Have a good one

  • There are clips that I "hide" due to the shakes, nobody gets to see those. Thanks for the compliment, I appreciate it. Gary has had vacant houses for sometime, although the recession and or depression are not helping, along with the huge tax increase about two years ago. I would have to say 75% of the fires are in vacant buildings. Thanks again for the comment

  • iam from portage,In not too far from gary.that house was probly also used as a crack house

  • Hell yeah, if not a crack house some gang banger was living in there sell guns or plotting to steal your car

  • Wow, price of water in Gary Indiana must be through the roof! Looks like they had to put in a budget request in to use water... Holy crap they are slow. The term "quick-attack" obviously has no meaning to them. Not to mention wearing SCBA or buttoning your coat in an IDLH atmosphere has no significance either.

mabas21: 90mph to get there first? Good one, POV. Sounds safe to me! lol

  • First of all mski349 this is Gary IN we are talking about. The resident probably could afford their $200 a month house payment so they torched the place instead. But before doing so they most likely clogged every plug on the block that wasn't already clogged. From what I can see GFD already exhausted too many resources by even sending one engine on scene. I would have sent single man unit just to make sure it did not spread anywhere. To sum it up, it's Gary let it burn.

  • I give the Video 5 Stars and the Fire Department 0 Stars if they took any longer getting water on it I would have let if fuckin Burn down, slow ass Guys.

  • Before responding I did a little research, the building was a site of a previous fire. Interior floor conditions were poor as in holes in the floor and the fire had already taken the bulk of the interior. You also have to remember, I was there as the first due engine pulled up on scene, so they had to tap a hydrant and stretch the lines. Gary FD in no way is slow, I have to haul ass, usually driving 90mph to get there before they knock the fire. If I am not there asap, it's a waste.

  • Insure your home for "replacement value".

ALWAYS wait as long as you can to call the fire department.

Your home will be destroyed, a "total loss", by water damage anyway.

You won't want a burned out shell "repaired" after a fire. Take my word for it. its happened to me. PS: ALWAYS have working & correctly placed smoke detectors, an exit plan in case of fire, & coiled heavy ropes (firmly attached) near upstairs windows that easily reach ground level.

  • Another great one!

  • The fire is being fueld by something

  • "wood"

  • The building must have had a gas supply, looks like the fire is being fueled by it

  • Oh ok, are you sure it wasn't your van that went from 0-60 in that amount of time?

  • It is VERY possible.

  • Great footage of the heavy fire in the rear, and did I hear you say, "that's awesome" around :30? Bright enough that the spotlight was not needed...

  • I don't think that was me, there were residents right behind me along with my Brother-in-law. We broke the spotlight out towards the end. The fire went from o-60 in 3.5 seconds!
