I saw "Creature from the Black Lagoon" and "It Came from Outer Space" in 3-D about 20 years ago. I've rarely laughed so hard in a theater, especially at the latter.
Oh. my. god. I NEED to see Robot Monster! I actually really enjoyed The Creature from the Black Lagoon. I honestly though that the movie would have been worse but I was impressed.
Why are these movie monsters so fascinated by random human ladies? -_- King Kong, that gorilla diver alien thing, the fish thing, the jellyfish dude from another video... It's weird.
The Creature of the Black Lagoon has always been one of my favorates. I loved this movie as a kid, but the air bubbles coming from the top of his head always cracked me up. Great stuff!
i remember watching these on channel 18 in milwaukee late night!.........they would come on before midnight special at the same time as sat. night live...oh the memories of the 70's my bro and cousins around the tv...loved it!
You know Bronson Canyon must have a very good agent to be able to land roles in nearly every movie ever made, especally after that whole Robot Monster fiasco
My hubby has just started collecting old sci fi b movies. We have been having a sci fi fest as we have bought a boxed set containing This Island Earth, Tarantula. The thing, Creature from the Black Lagoon, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, The Incredible Shrinking Man and It Came from Outer Space. Have never heard so many screaming women lol
Its funny how it seems that all old movie trailers have the same narrator. We have a different narrator but we use him all the time too. One of them just died maybe a year ago at the most. Hollywood replaced him with a narrator with a voice which isn't as deep as his.
Never before have you're eyes born witness to a more awesome spectacle! A startling and heartpounding experience! You won't believe you're eyes when you see these trailers in 3-D!!!! There needs to be a trailer like that for these trailers!
Still to be fair the Creature from the Black Lagoon is actually a very good movie that came out of this age all things considered. At least it wasn't like Robot Monster with a diver's helmet on a gorilla suit.
You mean more specifically than 35mm black and white film? If you're shooting diigital your best bet is probably something like "Magic Bullet". You can get pretty close using a 24p camera and After Effects or if you have the money for film go for it. 16mm B&W can probably get you pretty close to the look of robot monster. Check out a movie called "The Trouble With Lou" for an example of a modern movie shot to look like a 50's style flick. They used 16mm, I believe.
Julie Adams is still elegant and attractive; I sometimes chat with her when I'm taking a walk in Griffith Park. Took me awhile to figure out who she was, then she 'fessed up!
10:30 PM Sat. - Fantastic compilation here. If anyone wants to come to may page and talk B-Movies feel free to come over. But yeah, this is a great collection of B-Movies that are dear to my heart.
watching these movies at the theatre & the drive in seemed so cool back there in the '50s. Now it's silly how primative they were, compared to computer animated movies, today.......
These AIP type movies are priceless, the scientist, the lovely daughter anf the young Cop/journalist/Scientist. The ARMY fails to foil "The bug of the month" the Filmakers found in a science book. TCM doesn't show enough of these great drive-in flicks,There ought to be a cable station JUST for these films!
I want to begin a club for us that enjoy these old Sci Fi and monster movies of the 50's & the 60's. If any of you feel this is a good idea let me know. I live in Virginia Beach,VA.
Robot monster is pure genius god bless the 50s and the other sci fi horror form that time

I wonder were people in the fifties making fun of the acting in B movie just as much as we are today?

@devilshomie "I wonder were people in the fifties making fun of the acting in B movie just as much as we are today?"
In 1950, actors on average were more competent than they are today.
For example, the acting in these film is far superior to the acting in the film of, I dunno, The Last Airbender

Without any doubt THE CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON was the best monster to como out of the 40's and 50's.
Unforgettable! The creature will live forever.
Hope they don't make a mess of it in the remake.
