TY for the video. Change is good and this IS a REVOLUTION. It's a revolution because it's about a positive change, easy to access, difficult to get bored or reach a different plateau.
Training is what it's all about. Reach your potential.
the cheaper ones aren't engineered as well, they fail, and when they fail you can seriously injure yourself. i almost bought the knock off ones too, but then i read too many horror stories. plus a guy who works next door to me compressed disks in his back using faulty exercise equipment, and seeing how long his recovery was makes me think the extra $100 is well worth it. buy the right thing once and you'll never have to replace it.
Cheap doesn't always mean it is better or worse, neither does expensive mean the same neither.
The TRX is good because of it's flexibility to easily change dynamically for a whole host of exercises, plus it's fun to use, 100% effective in doing what it says it can do, plus I & my clients love it & know how good it is to use, at home, in the countryside, parks virtually anywhere basically .
So it's worth the cost & it pays for itself, more clients loving it & coming to me to be trained on it ;)
@x3Dre yeah, the TRX has already proven itself with countless of users, there has yet to be any case of fatal accidents stemming from the TRX straps, my body is too valuable to risk on some cheap brand at some hardware store.
ITs not the same, get the TRX. Its better quality. If you are going to spend the money get quality. If its the same why don't we see those cheap straps being used on YouTube?
I think its a good idea, BUT, we did the same thing in the 80s' with cargo tie downs in the Airborne. Our pushups in the Airborne were hard as well, feet up on a chair, or worse, at a 60 degree angle up on a wall, we did about 30 different routines, NOT involving weights and we used cargo straps from C130s. This TRX is NOT a revolution, just something 'new' to the public that most can be done without the straps. If you stick with the basics and whatch what you eat you can achieve the same thing.
@G22RCHA heck my brother, we were doing this in the late 70's as well. Suspension training has been around for awhile. Benefits as you know are fantastic though...
yeah, I would think you would still need to use weights, but just imagine how affective your workout would be if you incorporated weight training with this, along with HIIT cardio.
It can definitely replace weights. It is exactly the same as weights, with an added twist; the instability factor allows more muscle groups to get involved. Resistance can be increased with steeper angulations. I know several people who have given up weight training and just used TRX; and I know people who HATE the product and felt weight training was a bit easier since they can "isolate" one muscle group. I feel TRX is legit for ALL resistance training, but I would also add a cardio component.
I'm thinking of given up the weight training for this too. Just had a personal training session today with it, it's really good... I'm trying to get one on eBay
I don't think it replaces weights altogether....it provides a highly effective workout, and adds a lot of variety....and can replace your weight workouts if you want it to....but it can't build large amounts of muscle for instance. If that's not what you want, then yes, the TRX can become your main workout. It is for me, but I still use weights at times just to change things up. Even the TRX can become boring at times.
bungie chord wouldn't be good, it's not springy like that. But, yeah a lot of people make them out of car seat belts, only problem would be adjusting it at different lengths for different exercises

As the matter of fact I haven't seen anything in this video what you can't do with a pair of regular gymnastics rings..

I'm not sure if my post went through so I'll try again.
The TRX suspension trainer is more than a cheap blast strap.
The way the TRX was built allows for more variety.
Unlike the blast strap with it's metal handles it limits
you in some lower body training. Sure the TRX is a lot more expensive, but as a certified personal trainer,it's worth it.

agreed, you can buy a pair of two of straps for less than 20 bucks, and either make your own grip using pvc pipe, or spend money on good rings.
