@putdownan8dude Mick and Keef' were able to release six 'classic' albums after another... The Doors could only manage two. Jim Morrison was a pretty boy/waster, who stoners become infatuated with, claiming his pretentious poetry was what 'enticed' them to him, when in reality it was simply his external aesthetics, and the good musicianship of Robbie, Ray and John. If Jim Morrison had looked like Mick Jagger or John Lennon, he wouldn't have gotten anywhere.

@putdownan8dude Only two of The Doors albums can truly be considered 'classic' IMO. And this is coming from a guy who used to be obsessed with The Doors... until I was introduced to The Stones. Robbie, Ray and John were good musicians, but nowhere near on par with Mick, Keith, Brian/Mick T or Charlie. Without Jim Morrison, The Doors were nothing... that's because the band was one of superficiality. The whole band was more about Jim Morrison's charisma as it was about Manzarek's keyboard.

@BlockoVision all of the doors LPs were great "imo" and they were all unique and stood apart. from each other and from their peers. ray john and robby were a tight unit, full of jazz, raga, blues and proto punk influences. morrison set the standard for front men, not a posing lady like robert plant. not a fake personality like elvis. he was REAL and the doors were a great band. The stones' best musicians are charlie watts and keith richard. jagger is a inauthentic a blues singer as they come.

@putdownan8dude Jim Morrison tried to distance himself from his 'fans', by writing pretentious poetry and trying to become renowned as a intellectual, rather than a 'pretty boy' (which essentially, was what he was). Mick Jagger is a multi-instrumentalist, possessing more musical talent in his big toe, than Jim had in his entire body. Morrison might have had a decent voice... but as a musician, he pales in comparison. And how can you say 'The Soft Parade' is a great album? It's fucking awful.

Oh man, I was there at the Garden. I would never be able to forget that day, it actually changed my life. Since then, I've never stopped going to concerts, and I am still a happy musician. What great times !! I think I had about six girlfriends at the same time and I was only 17. I just love life and people. The Stones made me an animal, ...a nice animal.
