I think they just didn't want them to film the security checkpoints. In the US, you are not allowed to take pictures of or film security checkpoints run. I saw people at the Arch in St Louis who were told to put their cameras away when as they stood in line for the arch. Plus if this was censorship they would have just taken the camera's away.

I was there in Tiananmen square just few days before the uprising, i was only about 15 but i cried watching it on the news when i got home... wow 20yrs.

lol, actually umbrellas out on a sunny day aren't all that uncommon in China. In fact, I myself use umbrellas during sunny days in china b/c I burn easily and i prefer umbrellas to slathering myself wit sunscreen. also, pale skin is seen as beautiful to many in china, so many ppl will put up umbrellas so they wont get tan, also.
