  • I saw Al today in DC at Constitution Hall with the US Air Force Band....35 years later and he's still got so much skill and rhythm. My favorite performer.I watched the Grammys tonight and nobody today even holds a candle to this type of talent

  • Just beautiful. Al Jarreau...love of my life. Thanks for puttinging this up.

  • I love this song because it reminds me of a time our family had nothing but each other. Sleeping in the kitchen near the stove where the only heat was, lol. Hard times made us close. We've come a long way, all with successful careers and strong families of our own.

    We truly got by.

  • I used to listen to this song/album over and over as a kid. I couldn't have been any more than 6 or 7 at the time. My Pop STILL has it to THIS DAY!!!!

    Thank You for this one!!!!!!

  • I woke up this morning needing something for my soul. Felt a little restlessness, a little hunger, for I couldn't tell what....This did it for me....whew, I'm renewed and refreshed!

  • Hello darling I saw you for the first time in Austin TX for a "dallah" at the Paramount Theater in Austin, TX and every single person who left the theater left with a big smile on their faces, almost as big as yours. I was entranced by the "green" album" before then. You are a phenoman. Thank you so much for your lovely music and remaining in the business. I have loved you all the time and have been so blessed by your lyrics and your music. Best of the best darlin.

  • This brings back memories of my dearly departed wife of 26yrs. I miss you Shirley Hicks

  • Al Jarreau is to jazz singing what Jimi Hendrix was to blues/rock guitar.

  • That's a pride v's prize battle and to be honest, if I didn't believe in the music that I was part of, then I'd not do it. Why? I wouldn't want to be associated with 99% of the music that is out there made by the artists of today. I'd rather take 5,000 and release amazing music than 5,000,000 and release something I wouldn't be proud of making....

  • @JayeSwiss You speak like an artist, not some small town kid with no skills that wants to be a superstar and be on tv. lol I completely agree with you.

  • RIP Al.... you will be missed...

  • @dodgerkitty why are u saying rest in peace Mr. Jarreau is still living

  • Not one artist off any of the production mill shows like X-Factor of Pop Idol have produced anybody like or even close this. Nor will the stars of today that fulfill management and record label needs and requirements to make fast cash ever compare to the likes of Cooke, Vandross, Jarreau, Ayers, Benson, Franklin, Knight, Warwick, Ross and many many more. Sadly, they will all one day, be diluted amongst the inferior stars of the current day and be lost to time....

  • @JayeSwiss Wow! I was about to make a comment along the same lines, but I think you said it about as well as it could be said.

  • @thejazzman210 Thanks! It's just something I feel strongly about and I'm waiting for the day a true singing star with the voice, charisma, intelligence and arrangement of yesteryear to come along and show the Bieber's and the Cyrus' of the world how it's really done!

  • @JayeSwiss What the f?ck is a Bieber?

  • @Smiles2Miles Bieber... You know, Justin Bieber.... Never mind

  • @JayeSwiss You make it sound like its up to the artists and that there is none like that out there. It's all up to the businessmen who run the record companies who plays and who doesn't. In that sence, music has become a profit making machine, not an art.

  • @MauiBoyTrav Whilst I agree in part, it is still up to the artist to perform the song they are given, so not only are the businessmen to blame, but also the need for people in today's world to be famous. One point I tried to make in my original post which you may have missed is that, stars of today not only lack the talent of the stars of yesteryear, they also lack that little bit of class. I wish someone would start a "Motown-esque" label where it was all about the music, nothing else.....

  • @JayeSwiss From my point view the issue is these aren't "Artists" but kids who look good, taught how to sing and dance and act, then dressed and put makeup on. These aren't artists but business investments. That was my point.

  • @MauiBoyTrav Yeah... Well unfortunately for us all, they're still regarded as "artist* and not a lot we can do about it.... Also sounds like you defending them in some way. But people always have choices, no matter who they are and what they do. I got your point the first time round, but it's hardly justification for the crap music we have to put up with on a weekly basis.... Is it.....

  • @JayeSwiss I agree with you, but at the same time what would you do if you were offered millions of dollars and adoring fans? I don't blame the people who accept these offers, I blame the companies who are dominating the music scene.

  • Saw Al in Pittsburgh in 1976, still up there with one of the best concerts I've ever seen. Doesn't hurt that I was seated in the orchestra pit. Former Stanley Theater, now the Benedum Center, home to the Pittsburgh Opera and CLO.

  • He is in my opinion the ulitmate jazz vocalist. His expressions are so unique that it resinates the soul. I just wish the vocalist of today adopted this same passion!!!!

  • wonderful

  • Right at the beginning that sound of the audience clapping in unison, is an awesome thing to hear As a performer that sound made mew dig a little deeper. And then you use that rhythm for your next song...

    Man, that is the shit

  • I LOVE YOU and YOU have kept music, vision and love together.

  • looking forward to see Al in Indianapolis in September......so many good memories his voice brings to me

  • PARIS — Grammy-award winning singer Al Jarreau was in intensive care in a French hospital Friday after suffering breathing problems in the Alps, forcing him to cancel four concerts.

Jarreau's manager, Joe Gordon, said the 70-year-old singer "is awake and he's concerned" about missing concerts. Apparently to cheer him up, the doctors did a little dance, Gordon said.

    ------

  • Thank you Al, see you in Richmond. Please be nice to my son's workin the show that would love to have your autograph. They grew up on this song. T.J and Terrence

  • I wish I was there !

  • @fulster2: Yeah, me too! [STEVE, New York USA)

  • this is how I was introduced to his music.....still sounds great......

  • Has any of you considered how Jazz works on your sensibilities in a subtle way. The notes are the same notes that has existed since sound has existed. I hear Jazz in the way be talk, walk and live our lives. It flows into all forms of music in countries around the world. It is more than a form of music, more like an interpretor of our NEW lives. Well, if we listen. For those that don't care to listen, you hear it anyway. Therefore Jazz is a Body Snatcher from some alien planet. E.T. Phone Home

  • Great Classic & Timeless too. Thanks for uploading. This is VINTAGE JARREAU at it's very best. SUPER !!!!!!!
