It really has angered me this takeover. It was english over 200 years ago, and that's how it should remain. Once again, the Americans have taken over one of Englands best companies, just like many others.
I presume the staff have transfered under the TUPE clause? This gives them some security, for a limited period, not sure how long, used to be 2 years. This is were Kraft have to honour their terms and conditions of employment (contracts) and cannot change them for the protected period. But once this period expires...
What a disgraceful tragedy this is. The only reason Kraft bought them is to eliminate the competition. Kraft have had to borrowed heavily to acquire Cadburys, so it stands to reason the staff there will pay the price in cost recuperation. This mess always occurs when companies float on the market sooner or later. I hope Im wrong for the staffs sake, but this is an american company now, and cuts will be at this end no doubt.
