This video is paying homage or at least playing to the theme of a 1965 French noir film called "Alphaville", directed by Jean-Luc Godard. It's a film about the future and an American detective visits a town controlled by central computer. People there are controlled directly by the computer have no feelings and do not know love. The detective frees them by destroying the main computer. Dialog in the music video is dialog from the film.

Having just watched the movie "Alphaville" with my Fiance (zapjaste), I'm left a little confused as to what Kelly's own take on the themes presented in Alphaville is. Its clear she has a message, and its clear that she doesn't quite want to say it, but I'm not sure what it is, other than that she seems to really like the style of the women in the movie a lot, and that she identifies reluctantly with the auslanders.
