How did they get away with using Nintendo's cross d-pad shape? The PS controller has the cross shape underneath the shell precisely because of copyright reasons. No non-Nintendo gamepad has had the cross shape before or since.

Correct, but most (non gaming) people bought it for the dvd function (as it was cheaper then a normal dvd player). and most "gamers" with the idea "Now I can play games AND have a dvd player". So yes, compared to what was PS2's most attracting point originally was, the dreamcast lost to a dvd player.

I think Nintendo remembered this older controller and just made it better (hopefully) with the WiiU Controller. They use a similar layout and made the screen functional with the games. Very interesting concept.

@TheFartking90 well microsoft came out way after this really it was the release of the ps2 that killed the production of the dreamcast i had a dreamcast back in the day i loved it i was probably like 11 it was 1999 so ya i was 11 or 12 and i was obsessed with the thing then along came ps2 and i had never owned a playstation 1 so i abandoned my dreamcast it sat in storage for a while til one day a few years ago i needed money and sold it for like 25 bucks, huge mistake

The XBOX controller is the combination of a Dualshock and a Dreamcast controller. Anyone can see that. Nothing that Microsoft has made was original in any way.

That's not really a complaint, though. Good is good, but it does bother me that they are basically copying what other console manufacturers have made, proving that they don't know the first thing about making a game system.

All they did was switch the colors of the buttons around and add a joystick!"...but then I saw the sticker on the front of the console that says "Windows CE compatible" with the Microsoft logo, so I did some research, connected the dots, and found out exactly what I'm telling you: the Sega people were hired by MS to help design the Xbox.

But was way more better then the PS2. I heard Sega went kinda broke so they became a software company. @Y0uJustGotPwnedMate it didn't have DVD but it also didn't have the 3rd party support necessary to produce enough "big" titles for it, and this was due to Sega's reputation for making very poor marketing decisions in the past. As a result, big game developers lacked trust in Sega and simply decided to wait for the PS2 to come out so they could release all of their "big" games on it (games like Final Fantasy, Devil May Cry, GTA3). There were other factors that contributed to its demise as well.
