He needed Mental help...its sad no one cared enough to get him there...greedy fuks were too busy trying to make a dime on him rather than looking out for him...He is sick, but there is always hope.
MAN YALL DONT SHIT!!!!!! HE WOULD HAV HANDLED HAGLER DURAN AND LEONARD IN DA SAME WEEK. I GREW UP IN THE SAME HOOD WITH THAT GUY. I GUARANTEE YALL WOULDNT TALK THAT SHIT TO HIS FACE. HE WOULDVE PUT A DRESS ON ALL U FAGGOTS IN HERE!!!!!!!
this is more a psycho than a boxer. he does not say im sorry for my victims or what those women had to go through due to his "alcohol problem". MF i'm an alcoholic myself but never raped anybody. Rationalization and lack of remorse, do not learn from his consequences. A psyco
he was sexually abused as a very very young boy. I know someone just like him angry, violent would rob you beat you and feel bad about how they are so they use what ever drug they find to kill those feelings. At their worse they want to inflict the same pain they have on others.
I bet he was sexually abused as a very very young boy. I know someone just like him angry, violent would rob you beat you and feel bad about how they are so they use what ever drug they find to kill those feelings. At their worse they want to inflict the same pain they have on others.
In case anyone is curious: After this video. Ayala lost a fight, then got shot by a woman whose house he tried to break into and was sent back to jail, then was released. Then in 2004 he was caught speeding without a drivers license, and had heroin in his car. He was sent back to prison again.
He was released on parole again in Nov 2010, and so far, seven months later, has kept out of trouble.
Let's hope he can keep his life in order and move on.
He did have great potential early on, but I don't think he would have beaten the likes of Duran, Leonard, Hearns, Mugabi. But if he had fought more and got more experience, who knows.
The narration is disingenuous. Ayala didn't have problems with the law, or with booze. That's a euphemism. He had problems with women. He beat up one, raped another...call it like it is.
This is a sad story. Ayala had great potential. He was the best I had seen since Duran. When he was 14, in 1978, he nearly knocked out Pipino Cuevas in a sparring session. With JESUS, hopefully, things will improve for Tony
@jarvobrrrrap Not in his prime before all the time for rape. Ayala would have Duran thinking he was in the ring with the Devil, not a good place for someone that considers them self a bad ass. Some people have more rage than even a guy like Duran put that together with talent that's one of the reasons he never fought Duran Hearns or SRL the other bigger reason was money
@topdogcj It's sad to say, but I think your comment nails it. Some individuals are apparently born with a no account streak and Ayala certainly seems to fall into that category. The term psychopath fits this guy like a glove.
@MrBoomy8 I remember his "comeback". Somebody told Ayala that after a 16 year layoff & @ 37 years of age, Yori Boy Campas (or however his name is spelled) would be a nice, easy , tune-up fight. HA! Ayala quit on his stool.
The fight was not to be. On January 1, 1983, Ayala burglarized the home of his neighbor, a young schoolteacher, and brutally sexually assaulted her.[3] Although he was only 19 years old, Ayala had already been convicted twice of assaults against women. He had been given probation for these offenses.[4] Under a repeat offender's law, he was sentenced to 35 years in prison. The prosecutor at trial argued the young boxer should serve the full term because he was a danger to the community.
part two would have been nice, as we know, he attempted to rape another young girl whom he met at his father's gym in Texas, where he received additional prison time
He needed Mental help...its sad no one cared enough to get him there...greedy fuks were too busy trying to make a dime on him rather than looking out for him...He is sick, but there is always hope.

His story is not unusal, look at Carlos Monzon and Edwin Valero both of whom murdered their wives.
So much for Tony Ayala and therapy; look what he did a short time later. Hey, he's lucky the bullet didn't strike a vital spot.

He threw his life away. KO'ed by himself. I think he was up for a fight against Marvin Hagler? don't think he could have handled hagler.

@mrjforall It was against Duran, from what I remembered... I agree with the top comment, Duran would have beaten the piss out of him.
