My friend has the RP5s. Great sound though the bass dropped out pretty sharply below a certain frequency which could be more than solved by the subwoofer. I don't have th emoney for monitors and subwoofer so thought the 8" model would give madequate bass response; more so than the RP5s? Am I right in this assumption? Any tips on buying studio monitors? Cheers
@MrPamber I wanted to say this, but you alreadu did... The bass is waaaayy to hyped indeed, that's probably why all the novice "producers" like this monitor. It doesn't sound as flat as the real monitorspeakers.
Just buy a HiFi-set when you're thinking of buying one of these, it'lll probably be a lot cheaper + you've got some surrountsound for the DVD's. When you're serious about producing, mixing etc. don't buy these!
I have this set too and they are awesome. The microphone used in this video does not do the speakers justice, they do sound clean and tight, and as well as neutral at all volumes, but not an entirely dead quiet noise floor. Although, I hear small imperfections with the speaker's sound reproduction, it comes far ahead all other monitors at its price range. The sound can improved by using an external DAC/headphone amp or preamp section. I have my gain a little more than 1/2. VXTs are good too!
i love my vxt8 but you can't do mastering on them (to omuch headroom = dangerous because you don't hear saturation as well as on many other speakers) other than that, I just love my vxt8... but love the fact that I also kept my alesis monitor 1 because they are also extermely powerful for mixing.
i love my vxt8 but you can't do mastering on them (to omuch headroom = dangerous because you don't hear yje saturation as well as on many other speakers) other than that, I just love my vxt8... but love the fact that I also kept my alesis monitor 1 because they are also extermely powerful for mixing.
I love the tweeters on the KRKs. They don't mush all the highs into a sizzle like others. Makes them great to mix on knowing the highs are nice and clean.
if you use itunes to listen to, open up the equalizer. adjust the settings and i promise that no one will think that they are not that loud. i was not impresed at first but then i discovered this and now i cant stop smiling when i listen to them. they are incredible. the sound is amazing and the bass is more than plenty, but you must make the adjustments or you will not be blown away.
@mrbadmonkey68 You dummy, these speakers are made to have as close to flat frequency response as possible, meaning no certain frequencies are boosted/cut. You're probably boosting the highs and lows which sounds "good" to the ear (and louder) but totally defeats the purpose of have monitor speakers. Plus these are near-field speakers, so they don't fill a room with tons of sounds. You could have saved a lot of cash if you just wanted loud, colored, bass-y speakers.
@BlackstylezZ hey m8! i found those at 220 euros but i m comfused the picture just shows 1 speaker. I dont know about this stuff lol. Its 1 speaker only? or i have to pay 220x2 = 440?
I use it for one song I recorded in hired studio. For any monitors you need to treat the room. I would say that they are awesome for the money you pay. I have 6 pairs of the studio monitors so I won't be buying anything for a while but if I need the studio monitors and have low budget I would be getting these. Again you need to learn to translate any monitors and sound treat your room. After a while you will get your mixes to be proud of. Merry Christmas
Anyone can give a advice if these Rokit 8 from KRK are the best for Hip Hop music in this price range ? If not can anyone give me an clue about any Studio Speakers that worth it ?
Sup, my rokits power leds seems to be different in brightness one is more bright than the other one, has anyone experienced this as well? Since is said that the led is connected to the amp can it mean that the amp with the less brighter led is about to fail or drawing less power? I will appreciate any info.
(imho a bit too many drum hits at the same level, half of it should do it.... you could let the first ones play in the background without too much bass and let the last ones really hit it...)
Does the RP8's transformator produce any noise? I got some RP6 exposing a pretty quiet but annoying 50Hertz sound at the bass reflex hole even with no audio cables jacked in (thus, no ground problem)! I'm thinking about getting the RP8 instead if they have a better transformator. Do your RP8s expose any noise in idle condition when you put your ear near the bass reflex hole?
Well the hip hop / new age drum machine stuff is almost certainly going to be bottom heavy and my Samson 50a Resolv near field monitors provide a "tighter" boom boom - which means with trained ears you can predict the final mix's translation onto ANY medium, be it a beat up 80's ghetto blaster, a Fischer (yikes!) to a JVD 6.0 Dolby Dg Surround Stereo / Theatre system, should sound great across the board. Demo tip: play Steey Dan's "Josie" to get the BIG AUDIO PICTURE.
Get them off the desk!!!! either on stands or acoustic vibro pads!!! All that is happening is that desk will absorb the bass frequencies, and as cool as that may be your not getting the true sound from them!!!
Nice Volume you have there:P Get a Rp10 and you have the sound of an F16^^
But anyways Great Monitors, I've them too. And they are just amazing. Do you have an external soundcard? Or did you conncet it too the keyboard/Synthesizer.
@samthepoor yes but people obviously want to hear demos on youtube lol.. my demo got 25k views. Besides there are very select stores which sell certain monitors. Guitars, etc every music shop has. Monitors like these you need to go to a specialist shop, or an expo or something.
All speakers the size of KRK Rokits need a sub! Any monitor with a woofer under the size of about 8 Inches needs a sub I would say, because the woofer's size is just two small to generate the low bass frequencies that a sub generates!
@bsod4u2 Yes indeed mate, you just explained basically what I said, except in a more complicated and in depth way that not many people will understand, that is unless they are knowledgable in acoustics and monitor technology lol. I'm not sure if you're genuinely just putting your input of knowledge in, or trying to act like a smartarse. If it was the latter, then no one likes a smartarse engineer. But hopefully it wasnt...
Nice speakers man. I spent so, so long dreaming about them myself!!
I must have been abducted by aliens at some point recently, because when I was returned, my bank balance had dropped and there were a set of Prodipe ribbon 8's at my front door!!!
@jhood7891 set them up to where your seat and the speakers make an equal lateral triangle. like your seat and the speakers are the corners. and angle them to you. and have the big speaker cone at ear lvl. and make sure nothings infront of them. you might already be doing that. thats just the best i can say with out seeing your set up
@jhood7891 you are right.. they aren't really accurate (they make your mixes sound better than they actually do) if you want an honest monitor in this price range get the yamaha hs80 and dont look back!
