  • Lol the guy speaks about his family

  • @teaandpie your gt-r was also turbo wich forces more air in so it makes the engine preform like a bigger engine.

  • Honda has been trying to copy this look for 30 years!!! they are smart enough to know it's one of the greats, true Macho but still sexy . My info though says he has the speed in top gear wrong, the big block cars which looked different were geared for about 30 mph per 1000 rpm , that would be 7 grand for 210 mph, also the small block car won the lemans race two times ! the same car, impossible ever since, the car was so good they outlawed it! someday !

  • @teaandpipe then again if you really do the math, 40 inches tall (little wind resistance), and weighs 908kg (550bhp per tonne!! about the same as a veyron)....itll still be faster than many cars of today. Also the MK II which ive had the luck to be in had the 7 liter V8 engine....that is alot different :D

  • @teaandpipe Now look at the entire engine (include all the shit like turbo's this doesn't need) size and weight and where that weight sits it the car. It may use more cc's for the power but it uses less size which allows a smaller car, less weight and has a far lower CofG for the motor. They built this thing to race - not to be a dyno queen.

  • @teaandpipe yeah you're shit talking technology over 40 years old. good on ya!

  • best sounding car of all time!

  • @teaandpipe 1966 here duurrrrrrr

  • umm, i was made in 1968, can i have one?

  • Couldda done this on a sday that wasnt pouring rain. It tends to reduce speed and braking performance

  • The Ford GT40 is the greatest, most legendary car ever made.

  • I remember watching this when I was like 9 hahaaha

  • he's lucky to drive a legit one too

  • Meh. I'll take a M3

  • Would love to own one of these gt40

  • @Pllowery40 Jeremy Clarkson Most Outrageus

  • What is this DVD called?

  • and they say ford sucks, shut the fuck up.

  • there are a few things in my heart who have a special place. the ford GT is one of them

  • I remember when they for sale in the back of Road & Track. A lot of them were track cars that were 'promised' to be street legal. I couldn't believe the styling, the pedigree and the fact that they were street legal. Almost too much for a teenager and his lust for the ultimate speeder.;-)

  • RUF CTR2 yellow bird, Callaway Corvette Sledgehammer, TVR Cebera Speed 12, and the Ferrari 330 P4?

  • @nickrulez809765 oh and the Nissian R390

  • this has the 5.0 liter engine (289) i wish he would had tested a 427.

  • @ricardoeldelmustang The 5.0L was a 302ci, the 289ci is a 4.7L, BUT INDEED I was the tested the 427 also!!

  • @Eddiewmusic oh, yeah, my bad, but we both agree on that 427 thing.

  • @ricardoeldelmustang it's all good, and yeah wish the would have tested the 427ci GT40, that was a beast car!! to bad he's to tall..

  • And its even in my favorite color, the Gulf paint scheme.

  • Things to do before you die...Drive a GT-40

  • Im putting together an original engine from a GT40, Ford experimental XE-289 block,Gurney Weslake heads and 48 IDA Webbers, it will sound like this one.

Can't wait to hear it on the dyno !

  • Awesome sounds out the duel pipes, and a roar that would send shivers down Ferrari's neck for a few years. My all time favorite Ford, with no doubt in mind.

  • 0 dislikes, just the way it should be.

  • the real gt40 had a 427 in it not a 302 and had 490hp

  • @2bidfilmsguy No, the Mk1 GT40's like the on in this video had 289 or 302 engines. The GT40 MKII and MKIV had 427s (7 litre) engines producing around 500b.h.p.

  • @xXImOnAPlainXx i thought the factory racing versions had the 427 from the start, and the watered down production models had the 302

  • @2bidfilmsguy The MK1s like in this video that won the '68 and '69 Le Mans had 289cu/4.7 litre Ford V8's. The production models had detuned version of the racing car's 289cu engine.

  • I could swear I've seen this thing before, but I don't know where... Anywhere else it's been featured?

  • Better than Mercedes-Benz E500/ E50 AMGs

  • not bad for a clevo, thats why they are number 1 on my engine list.

  • Still care about your wife and kids now eh Jeremy?????????

  • Americans can make good cars if we actually try hard with it

  • that bubble on top is genius. lower rooflines just looks better and the bubble doesn't really take away from it.

  • @maikeru01 I'm guessing this was Dan Gurney's GT40, the bubble on top is called a Gurney Bubble because Dan Gurney is as tall as Jeremy Clarkson, if not taller. They had to put that bubble on top because that was the only way Dan could fit in it.

  • What is the name of the car at 23 seconds?

  • @getsemanimarquez McLaren F1

  • Wasn't even the 427 ;)

  • Countach?...

  • @cliffthelightning

Despite being one of the all-time supercar greats. The aerodynamically challenged Countach could only achieve a tad over 180 mph in its fastest stock form.

  • @VikingAmcar lol "only" a tad of 180mph, hahaha

  • Lovely video. I watch it at least 3 times a week. What a machine and what a nice opening with the late Gary Moore R.I.P

  • 1:15 Careful!

  • that bubble is hilarious

  • very suck when you become more taller than normal tall

look what they build for tallers at 2:11

  • FANTASTIC

  • one word

    orngasum

  • why is wheel and gear lever on the wrong side?

  • @ubitcumajkemi It's not!

  • @ubitcumajkemi Steering wheel is on correct side, the gearlever is on the right to make shifting while going around a race track easier

  • After reading the description...well....I'm VERY glad Ford didn't buy Ferrari, but I'm also glad this allowed the GT40 to be made. :-)

  • @trafficjam10 If you can't join them... beat them!

  • @YoungJim409 And beat them they did.... A lot!

  • hahahaha look how they race in old times at 1:10

  • @HamadHHAG It's called the "LeMans start"

  • What season and episode is this?

  • @carguy164 It's not Top Gear. It's one of Jeremy Clarkson's home videos called 'The Most Outrageous Jeremy Clarkson Video in The World...Ever!"

  • Awesome sound!

Thank you for vid and infor. ;)

  • Awesome car ... awesome sound

  • i used to have this on VHS

  • clarkson cant fit in the old gt40 as proved on top gear

  • @pershio made for good entertainment though

  • The old ford V8's from the 60's really do have the best exhaust note. What I'd do to ride in one of these or a Boss 429.....

  • ford n lamborghini have a revenge on ferrari lol

  • what did this come from

  • AWESOME.

  • whats that amazing guitar song you hear at the beginning of the video ??

  • @megaprime1 gary moore parisianne walkways

  • @megaprime1 yea its a nice song !

  • Best engine sound ever!

  • Word!

  • @driverfilms agreed either this engine or the one in that rover sd1 that was in full throttle 5.2l

  • Oh my God! He found nothing to complain about! Just listen to that motor roar! That is art in it's truest form.

  • They could release a cd with those sounds, and I'd buy it!

  • @VikingAmcar And then any husband forced to buy a Prius could listen to good music. There are no good radio stations on today any way!

  • @VikingAmcar Jhonn DE Lorean did, when he was building the first PONTIAC GTO, he sold many of them.
