im so sick of people attacking her. yes her methods are in correct but so is smacking the horse on the nose when they nip & so is hitting them with a crop when they refuse a fence and so is putting hoof dressings on a horse & sanding hooves & draw reins & having the horse ride in no frame which causes them to tense their back muscles which are not meant for carrying the rider but locomotion and so you get a cold back that is painful but everyone seems to ignore everything but this...wtf
@ilovepreciousjim2 its not "bad" per say but it can do more harm than good and is really ignorant of the horseman. a HEALTHY hoof will regulate its own water intake and evaporation. the hoof is covered in whats called a periople that helps regulate this as well as other factors. even in wet environments the hoof will regulate its self. so putting on dressing is really covering up a nutritional problem and creating a wet surface for bacteria adhere to mutiply. there are studies to prove it.

You must be joking... or not know horses at all. Look at the signs of discomfort (to put it mildly) of the horse: whipping his tail, ears laid back. This has nothing to do with dressage, but with animalcruelty. And the whole world must have gone mad to award this with gold medals... Worse is that she has set an example for riders to do exactly the same. No wonder the horseworld now needs people like Parelli and Monty Robers to solve the problems caused by this kind of ''dressage''.

She is a professional dressage rider and she probley rides better than any of you she is a olympic dressage rider. the horse is not suffering im sure if it didnt want to do this it would not PUT UP WITH IT!!! the SOFTER the horse becomes in the head possition the better it is for the horse and they rider! :)

Horses wern't designed to jump as they have a heavy gut, but horses still do it because there are ways to make them do it - under feeding them so they become lighter. So are you gonna start saying show jumping should be banned? Pffft yeah right.
@AshleighM82 euuhm I don't want to discus the whole rollkur thing but my horse his belly is HUGE and he jumps beautifull. And he really likes it to, cause when I put him in the arena and the fences are still in there, he'll jump them, just for his own fun.

Ich finde, ein guter Reiter sollt bei JEDER Lektion mit einem entspannten Pferd auftreten. Dass Pferd in der Piaffe mal hinter die Senkrechte kommt, ist kaum vermeidbar. ABER DAS ist Tierquälerei. Allein schon, ein Pferd ewig nur Piaffe und Passage gehen zu lassen.

@xXxclara4everxXx mir ist schon klar, dass ein pferd solch schwere übungen nicht völlig entspannt und mit wehendem schweif meistern kann, aber dieses permanente schweifschlagen sieht meiner meinung nach eher nach unzufriedenheit aus "falscher spannung" aus.... wir wollen uns ja auch nicht über den schweif aufregen, sondern ich glaube das wir alle der selben meinung sind... aber die verantwortlichen in großen sport interessiert es anscheinend immer noch nicht..
@xXxclara4everxXx guck dir doch bitte alleine mal den kandarrenzügel an... vllt sollte sie mal ein paar unterrichtsstunden bei hubertus schmidt nehmen, danach gehts ihren pferden sicherlich besser, er ist das beste beispiel dafür, dass es auch ohne quälerei möglich ist im spitzensport mit zu reiten
Diese Übung ist mit Sicherheit grenzwertig, aber das war wiederum ein Ausschnitt und nicht die ganze 40 minütige Arbeit! Man macht es sich auch gerne mal leicht mit der Kritik! Ich hätte auch lieber einer klassischeren Ansatz, aber nach der Übung zeigte das Pferd Zufriedenheit (oder Erleichterung), auf jeden Fall war es nicht wehrig oder erkennbar unzufrieden. Aber: wie gesagt, ich gehe davon aus dass das Pferd hier keinen (!!) Schaden genommen hat! Das hat Anky grenzwertig aber ok gemacht...

Since I don't know the exact story behind this film or the maker of it, I find it hard to judge Anky. The fact that a very short film kan cause badly informed people to wish her death (and me, watch the comments) says more about their cruelty than hers. Btw, I don't use the so called "roll kur" method myself, and I'm not in favor of it.
It looks to me she's diagnosing a problem the horse has when ridden.

This method of extreme training produces extreme movement, similar to what is seen in the Americal Saddle bred. You might get used to it and condone it, but to fresh eyes, it is freakish and absurd and the horse looks like he is being abused.

Vorne halten (mit Kandarre!) und ziehen, hinten mit den Sporen treiben. Der ständig schlagende Schweif des Pferdes signalisiert Unwohlsein und Schmerz., genau wie das ständig offene Maul. Und sowas wird online gestellt und auf Turnieren präsentiert...man sollte sich schämen !!!!

I will tell you the sercet of Rollkur, trainers use this to restrict oxygen to the brain of the horse the horses throax closes up. With less oxygen to the brain the horse then becomes calm and lightheaded and slows down because of to much carbon monoxide in the blood then the horse learns to be submissive to the rider's every comand because of fear of suffcation. Just like when a lion attacks a zebra it will go for the throax and then the drop down so liken these people to beasts of the feld.

She is a professional dressage rider and she probley rides better than any of you she is a olympic dressage rider. the horse is not suffering im sure if it didnt want to do this it would not PUT UP WITH IT!!! the SOFTER the horse becomes in the head possition the better it is for the horse and they rider! :)

You know, rollkur is in natural but I bet none of you know that jumping a horse is unnatural? Horses wern't designed to jump as they have a heavy gut, but horses still do it because there are ways to make them do it - under feeding them so they become lighter. So are you gonna start saying show jumping should be banned? Pffft yeah right.

Stel je aan, zeg. Sjef heeft altijd gezegd dat ze het diep en rond slechts enkele minuten achtereen in de training gebruiken. En dat wordt ook in iedere video bewezen; er bestaan geen filmpjes waarop IEMAND van de wereldtop meer dan 2 of 3 minuutjes achter elkaar 'rollkür' gebruikt.

Ich finde, ein guter Reiter sollt bei JEDER Lektion mit einem entspannten Pferd auftreten. Dass Pferd in der Piaffe mal hinter die Senkrechte kommt, ist kaum vermeidbar. ABER DAS ist Tierquälerei. Allein schon, ein Pferd ewig nur Piaffe und Passage gehen zu lassen.
Wie fest der ist im Rücken. Traurig.

@xXxclara4everxXx mir ist schon klar, dass ein pferd solch schwere übungen nicht völlig entspannt und mit wehendem schweif meistern kann, aber dieses permanente schweifschlagen sieht meiner meinung nach eher nach unzufriedenheit aus "falscher spannung" aus.... wir wollen uns ja auch nicht über den schweif aufregen, sondern ich glaube das wir alle der selben meinung sind... aber die verantwortlichen in großen sport interessiert es anscheinend immer noch nicht..

@xXxclara4everxXx guck dir doch bitte alleine mal den kandarrenzügel an... vllt sollte sie mal ein paar unterrichtsstunden bei hubertus schmidt nehmen, danach gehts ihren pferden sicherlich besser, er ist das beste beispiel dafür, dass es auch ohne quälerei möglich ist im spitzensport mit zu reiten

Diese Übung ist mit Sicherheit grenzwertig, aber das war wiederum ein Ausschnitt und nicht die ganze 40 minütige Arbeit! Man macht es sich auch gerne mal leicht mit der Kritik! Ich hätte auch lieber einer klassischeren Ansatz, aber nach der Übung zeigte das Pferd Zufriedenheit (oder Erleichterung), auf jeden Fall war es nicht wehrig oder erkennbar unzufrieden. Aber: wie gesagt, ich gehe davon aus dass das Pferd hier keinen (!!) Schaden genommen hat! Das hat Anky grenzwertig aber ok gemacht...

last month, i did see a documentation about horses, rollkur, low deep and round.
and sjef jannsen, her husband saids it is normal to ride horse on this way.
and now, the fn(german) allows low deep and round for 10 minutes on the preparation square. 10 minutes oder 2 seconds. to much i believe.
crazy world and realy poor animals.

Viele Reiter reiten Deutsch ihre Pferde bis sehr hoch, mit ihren unter Hals heraus. sehr eng. Die Deutschen haben sehr schöne und extrem talentierter Pferde durcheinander mit ihrer Methode des Reitens. wenn Sie bei einem Umsatz Video, wenn das Pferd in Deutschland schauen, sehen Sie nur das Pferd geradeaus in Trab Galopp gehen. sie nicht einmal zeigen die Dressurlektionen, weil dann die Pferde angespannt und eng und sehr schwer in der Hand zu bekommen.

@jeaninedressage You know, first of all, that's the biggest shit I've ever heard: All german horses are "straight forward driven horses" .. Only because yours and probaply some others are like this, it doesn't mean all of them are like you descriped it.
I think it is our good right to criticize Anky for her stupid method because it is very unhealthy, the horse can't breathe in that position and it can't see very good, also all of the muscles are tensed up. Would you call that a good riding?

and heavy in the hand. when I tried a halfpass in canter, the horse straighten itself and was starting to bold. when I went to halt, the horse's head flew up, the whites of his eyes showing, very scared. i gave him a squeeze with my legs and the horse kicked at me (yes, horses can kick at you when you are on them) i gave him another, harder squeeze, he then threatened to rear up. then I had to give him a kick to get him to go forward again. NOW do not say Anky's riding is bad, when you should

(continuing my post as i ran out of characters) the german way are being ruined. Im not saying all germans ride this way, but whenever i look at a sales video from a barn in germany, i see straight forward driven horses, who are very tense and scared. I have experience in this as I rode a horse that just came from a sales barn in Germany, forward and straight is all the horse wanted to do. if i tried to bend the horses head slightly for the upcoming corner, the horse got very tense and heavy

Since I don't know the exact story behind this film or the maker of it, I find it hard to judge Anky. The fact that a very short film kan cause badly informed people to wish her death (and me, watch the comments) says more about their cruelty than hers. Btw, I don't use the so called "roll kur" method myself, and I'm not in favor of it.
It looks to me she's diagnosing a problem the horse has when ridden.

der schlagene schweif deutet auf schmerzen in der rückenmuskelatur hin und dann wird das pferd auch noch in extremer rollkur haltung geritten!!!
schlimmer gehts nicht das pferd wird nachher (wenn es das jetzt noch nicht hat) extreme rückenprobleme haben!! schrecklich einfach nur schrecklich dagegen sollte man echt etwas machen!!!

To the whiners: this film last only 2 minutes. Someone says Anky does not give the horse a break, but as soon as Anky gives the horse a break, the film stops...
At least she does not practice "soring", to make the movements more spectaculair.

@Donnasonja She's a disgusting MONSTER. Who cares if it's only 2 minutes? It's cruel for a single second! Maybe she doesn't practice "soring", but Rollkur is not far behind!

This method of extreme training produces extreme movement, similar to what is seen in the Americal Saddle bred. You might get used to it and condone it, but to fresh eyes, it is freakish and absurd and the horse looks like he is being abused.

... but the bottom line stays... If a horse does not want to do something because it hurts, he will not do it. And sometimes horses fight you because they have their own will, and it can be interpreted differently by a spectator... All I’m saying is if you are not on that horse's back and not riding on the level that Anky rides, you should rather not criticise, coz she can probably teach you a few things about riding...

Look, no offence to any of your comments... But if you are an athlete training on and for Olympic standards, it's no more games and playing around anymore... Don't get me wrong, please, I don't condone hurting horses to achieve a personal goal, but she is the nr. 1 rider in the world for a reason. She must be doing something right... I have been training young horses for my entire life and each horse is different...
