I have both of these and am testing between the two. I've had the Onkyo for a couple of weeks and the Denon for a couple of days. First off the Onkyo's interface is a lot nicer IMO, the Denon's looks out and outdated. Most other review of these two have the Denon win out on sound. Sound quality is an individual preference I think unless you are comparing difference price points. This review also didn't mention MultiEQ (Denon) vs 2EQ(Onkyo). I have to keep playing before I make up my mind.
airplay is built in the apple tv so really i dont know why onkyo cant have that feture built right in the receiver ,pionerr and Denon ,are haveing it built right in why cant onkyo let hope for next year 2012.
@joseph10704 Onkyo do have the facility to add Airplay to their units (via a Universal Port adapter) but Apple have refused to licence Airplay for the Onkyo receivers due to Apple's resistance to the fact that it would make older Onkyo units retro-compatible with Apple Airplay. Unfortunately as Apple have refused the licence (even though the technology is there) Onkyo have a warehouse full of these adapters that they cannot sell.
Much better this actually explains everything and leaves nothing out unlike hi fi mags that never seem to give clear answers. Similar quality but Onkyo sounds better plus the thx certification must add some credibility to its standards somewhat which is reasuring. I am thinkn of this amp but also tempted by Pioneer this time or Yamaha maybe even give a Cambridge ago. Sound quality is my main priority with music and movies. These other features can b useful and deal clinchers too its fun deciding

I've bought the Onkyo 609 but have yet to set it up. Can I plug my TV aerial into it, and receive regular channels at the TV via HDMI?
I've never owned anything like this before.
