  • Charn's fingers still creep me out 10 years later

  • Watching it now just makes me realize how fake it is. I mean when I was little I probably thought Gorwen and Charn were real. When I saw Charn,I got so scared.I dreaded the day when the teacher showed the next episode.

  • Everyone back to mine for some Palamade!

  • I got the TTDE box set on vhs, cuz im cool. When my mum n dad left teaching in a school i stole it from the stock room! =D Still tho, charn shits me up....

  • I remember getting some Freddie Kreuger hands/claws as a kid, and pretended to be that Charn dude loads. Bloody scared the hell out of me he did.

  • That dickhole charn gave me night terrors for weeks after I was shown this at school. Pretty fucked up for an educational programme >.<

  • I remember being terrified of this when I first saw it in primary school in 1990 when I was 8. A few weeks later the headteacher dressed up as Charn for children in need day and he scared the hell out of us.

  • Charn looks amazing!

  • cannot believe u uploaded this ur awsome

  • CHAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRNNNNNNNNNNN! (star trek :D )

  • On behalf of my 5 year old self who was so scared of Charn I had to keep my eyes closed, I say:

    BURN THAT MUDDA FUGGER GORWEN!

  • charn the evil one?

    dam the 90's was awsome

  • @zacho6661 hahahahaha i love this progamre

  • Charr terrified me. Still does, even now :(

  • Looking at the current state of britain;

Blair and Brown played this game everyday 24/7 whilst a murder of crows ran the country.

    These were more innocent times.

  • I remember watching this in primary school, if i remember correctly, i was about 8 yrs old in year 4 and the year itself was 1991,...holy shit 20 yrs ago lol i use to love the times when the teachers use to wheel the TV in on a trolley/TV stand and make us all watch"Look and Read",i use to be the kid who got kicked out of class for talking through the programme lol. Oh the memories!

  • oh my word!! i remember getting nightmares from this thing!

  • lmao good mmorys of this scene whole classroom was goin nuts cheering on the dragon lmao

  • Charm shits me up still

  • Watched this in primary 4 and it STILL freaks the hell out of me!!

  • HOLY SHIT I remeber this it gave me nightmares for weeks, but the worst part is that my teacher never let us see the end SHE PROMISED. i was six for gods sake, and i jus remember seeing the dragon die and that was it :( ahhh memories x

  • there was this kid in our class who's parents were weirdo's and never had a tv cause they thought it corrupted young minds anyway we watched this in school and the kid pissed himself when he seen charn haha

  • Anyone else thinks that Charn looks scarily like Sauron? I mean too close for coincidence....

  • Charn scared the bejeezus out of me as a kid. He still does a bit.

  • I hate age. Looking at this now, I see two guys in tacky rubber costumes, probably called Jim and Steve, spouting B-Movie dialogue while blasting each other with ultra-fake 80s special effects.

    And yet...when I was 6 years old...

...this was the most amazing, dramatic, terrifying thing I'd EVER seen! I'm glad I grew up with this!

  • why didn't he just burn him at the start?

  • @randomrr2008 As Charn said, Gorwen's too noble to start off with the fatal blow (Or maybe he's just weak from the damage that's been done to Pelemar and was waiting for the right moment when he could be sure of taking Charn out)

  • Charn looks like a cross between a skeleton and a crow's corpse. I was absolutely terrified of him as a child. GO GO GORWEN!

  • Holy bird bones that guy is scary! How did he not scar all of us when we were 5?

  • well done gorwen

  • is this the next cod

  • I'm glad to see that I'm not the only person that found Charn hideousley scary at primary school - this series used to make me petrified of going to bed on my own when i was about 7!

  • I remember this being shit scary when I was 8 :')

  • wipe yourself off charn. you dead.

  • I totally forgot bout it to till sumone put it on fb lmao 5*!!

  • Charn messed up my childhood.

  • I cant believe i used to be scared of Charn when I was little

  • SOMEONE HELP ME! I can't decide which is better: Gorwen vs Charn or Kirk vs Gorn XD haha

  • THIS IS BRITISH EDUCATION. WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP.

  • @AEF091

of course trying to engage children into reading with something involving dragons and stuff which most children love and would pay attention to... what on earth WERE we thinking? ¬_¬

  • @AEF091 from 1989! give it a bit of credit seen as its still played in schools now its done really well!

  • This shit it is fucking awesome! Gorwen pissed all over Charn! How the fuck did they get away with showing this to 6 ear old kids, charn scared the fuck out of me

  • look at 1:15

  • gorwen shits on charn. still have nightmares that charn is under my bed this shit has fucked me up for life!!!!

  • a dragon vs a dark warlock trying to take over the world. how cool is this

    i miss my childhood :(

    this was too awesome

i was so scared of charn, he was in my nightmares for a really long time

  • I remember watching this years ago in primary, charn still scares me a bit :P

  • /watch?v=OkPONXDwSH4 - Meet the actors behind 'Through the Dragon's Eye' :D

  • I remember seeing this in Primary School! EPIC!!!!!

  • the book was actually terrifying, it has this huge picture of Charn on the last page; it was literally like a Stephen King. and the widgets were seriously fucked up. this freaks kids out, it doesnt encourage them to learn...

    GO PELOMAR :)

  • i remember being petrified at school when watching this it's almost laughable now

  • I used to be shit scared of that crow lookin thing lol

  • lol wat the i remember this show from school omg!!!

  • I can not believe how this scared me so much as a child!! I must have been an incredibly wimpy thing!

  • nightmares for years!

thought i was the only one!

  • a shit attempt by the BBC at ripping off Dark Crystal!

  • Love the costume. Looks like a cross between a crow and a Hound of Lucifer from ROBIN OF SHERWOOD

  • This was educational? Goddamn why can't PBS be like this!

  • "what's the bet that something I've written in this paragraph will be corrected in a comment?"

    Ummm, you wrote "patterend".

"Patterned", dear boy, it should be "patterned".

  • @MorselBunter Haha, good on yer. Well spotted. That was actually a slip of the hand (typo), I didn't think that was how it was spelled.

  • I was fucking terrified of Charn. He fucking melted Doris into a pile of purple goop.

    Jesus.

  • @Bayc0n glad it wasnt just me. had nightmares about this fucker for months.

  • charn is the friendly ghost from dark towers.

  • round about 1:41 when charn's swishing his cloak about sent me crazy when i was eight. i tormented my friends by doing that to them and going "I AM CHARN!" in a scary voice. hee hee.

  • Jees, i just watched it and I'm not surprised i was scared before aha

    1:16 !

  • He terrified me when i was little! I used to hide behind the sofa. Legendary program

    Thanks for posting :)

  • Fantastic!!! The years of birdman/wizard/transsexual nightmares that haunted me through my childhood have now returned.

  • @alexshmalex

I was raped by a ladyboy whilst watching this, too

  • this scared the crap out of me too! I wouldnt sleep in the dark hahaha

  • shit myself from that crow thing when i was younger LOL

  • Greatest fight ever.

  • my brother used to tell me that charn was coming to get me :|

  • i have been looking for this for a long time. I will never forget watching this battle. It inspirated me to run around the play ground folding my coat up as wings for about a year! lol

  • this fucking terrified me as a kid

  • Lmao, me too. Charn scared the hell out of me!

  • I watched this in school when I was a kid, it scared the sh*t out of me and gave me nightmares for 5 years.

  • quite possibly the best program going in history, everything about is amazing.

i hate charn, he is one scary guy.

    x

  • Hey - I'd already read the Hobbit and was starting on LOTR at that point. I'd enjoyed Badger Girl, Dark Towers and Geordie Racer, but by that point Through The Dragon's Eye didn't cut it for me.

Not to try and be trollish or anything. It's great that people like you provide opportunities like this for people to indulge their nostalgia.

  • I remember my friend and I pissing ourselves laughing at this very scene, which I hadn't seen for about 20 years until just now. Loved all the Look and Read programmes, but even as 9-year-olds this scene, with all Charn's unnecessary twirling around, seemed a bit naff.

  • You had no imagination as a child!

  • If you watched it at 9 you were about 4 years too old! We had it in Reception class and to a 5 year old, it was terrifying!

However, looking at it now, Charn does bear a resemblance to Lord Zed of Power Rangers..

  • @ozymanhead That's the point; he's an over-the-top git who's so confident that he can win that he makes crucial mistakes

  • Would like to thank the people who made this because i couldnt sleep between the ages of 8 and 9 scary as fuck!!!

  • I have been trying to remember for years what this was called. Fucking terrifying.

  • charn is trying to get gorwens shopping. sainsburys had an offer on and charn missed out. thats what this is all about! true story!

  • lmfao gorwen had got the last 3 for 2 offer on the veetons ... charn wasnt impressed like

  • gorwen beat that little bitches ass

    woooooooooo!!

  • I remember watching this at school. Seems like ages ago!

  • That was bold television

  • NOSTALGIA FUCK YEAH!

  • i remember this memory swimming into my mind but it looked a lot better then and the rays were grey not green

    hmm

Maybie when your a child your mind interprets the story to whatever you want it to be..i want that back =(

  • yea man im suprised, i havent seen this character in about 20 years now im seein him and im not scared at all of him

  • OMG major flashback! I loved this programme when I was younger...most of my class cried when we saw the final part. Charn used to scare the bejesus out of me I thought he was terrifying!! Seeing this now...lol he isn't scary he's actually kinda camp and yeah, he IS a weird skeleton-bird thing! Loving the synthesisers it adds a retro late 80s early 90s feel. I thought this was absolutely epic and the best series ever shame how awful it looks compared to what we are used to now...... :-D

  • totally agree , charn scared me shitless when i was younger

  • did with me as well. i can rmemer crying on this part back in year 2 haha

  • we used to have a paper mesh life-size charn on our wall in our classroom ... used to scare the shit out of me

  • Your teacher was a bitch for doing that to you! Why not just have Freddy Kreuger hanging over the door?

  • charn kept me awake many many many nights, i only remember him and not the show

  • Gay -.-

  • deep, charn got raped rawly

  • I feel the synthesiser music really adds to the intensity to the scene

  • damn....major flashback!!!! its funny the things u forget about

  • O...M...G

I actually had a phobia of Charn!

I was sooo scared of him when they showed us thins in yr 2 :O

    I'll never get over it!

  • words cannot express the awesome..

  • haha amazing upload!!!! this programme was legendary!! Yer Charn was ONE scary MuthaFucker!!...

the day our teacher showed this final episode i had been naughty n was made to sit outside :-( hahahaha

    Great Upload!

  • Yes, finally this has an immortal place on the internet to scare children for evermore!! Hahaha!

  • Charn kinda looks like the Sycorax from Doctor Who

  • If he cut off Gorwen's hand, would it grow back?

  • @DistantJ uhh that was the doctor himself, but cheers for the vid, i was crying when he was getting attacked lol

  • OMG I remember looking forward to seeing this episode for weeks but then when they showed it at school I was off ill so I missed it!...Now, 16yrs later, I finally see it!

  • YEAH!! Fuck you Charn! You got fucked up.

  • I was petrified of Charn when I was little and I have had nightmares about him ever since on and off. Can't understand why I youtubed it to see it again actually?!

  • Epic in everyway!

  • This was epic!

  • Epic, EPIC EPIC. I've been searching for this for years... EPIC

  • AMAZING!! takes me back a long long time!!! Also the hidden morals that kids pick up are just as good in this programme as say Thundercats or Heman! Epic!! Good always beats Evil!!

  • Oh my God. Im still as scared of charn now as I was when I was 9 and Im almost 27! Me and My mate camped out in my back garden and she kept saying Charn was outside coming to get me. I did'nt get much sleep that night. He was my worse nightmare, can't believe they showed this in schools. I dont think Im on my own when I say, Im scarred for life haha!

  • Charn used to scare the shit out of me!!

    still does a little bit

  • believe me you weren't the only one

  • i actually used to fancy charn i a bit of a weird way

  • LMFAO!! Classic!

  • So is Charn like a crows skeleton? He is pretty scary stuff right there...

  • Dam right scary

  • i love this video ,

  • wasnt Charn in GWAR?

  • bloodey hell i remember watching this when i was 6, im 18 now, nd it is still really good

  • watch from 1:17 its the best bit by far.

    "gorwen, im over here"

  • "i remember getting proper freaked out by charn, which is why i used to sleep with my quilt over my head."

"Charn used to give me nightmares as a 7 year-old!"

"charn was way too scary for primary school i too spent a couple of years in trauma after watchin this"

And I spent years and years thinking I was the only one wimpy enough to be scared witless by Charn. I even had to look away when I searched for Charn on Google images. It's good to know there are other Charnophobics out there.

  • what a great kids tv show its teaches them how to spell and fight dirty, i mean throwing a rock thats just low and it really shouldnt hurt gorwen, that dragon is pro. best programme ever when i was a kid. charn is and always will be the scariest bad guy ever.

  • i can honestly say charn scared the living shit out of me when i was younger, and watching this now, i still feel a little bit of fear. I remeber crying when the series ended, i don't know if it was joy that they saved Pelemar or I was gutted it was ending. Either way I looked a prick. I was 16 at the time.

  • XD Hahaha, good comment.

  • @jimmywinner123 did OLLIE from EARTH WARP scare the shit out of u when he came out of the sea? sure did me!

  • Can't Believe i found this video been lookin for it for years.Had terrable nightmares about this didnt sleep for weeks because of it. Didnt even get to finish watching it my parents told the teachers not to let me lol.

  • Best childrens programme ever. All hail Charn!!

  • Charn used to give me nightmares as a 7 year-old!

  • i remember getting proper freaked out by charn, which is why i used to sleep with my quilt over my head.

  • my friend ian spent years in trauma after seeing charn whenever he closed his eye's, ive just showed him this clip n now he's crying

  • I too was traumatised because of Charn

  • i blanked him out of my memory but now i remember.... ITS THE FINGERS

  • seriously, i used to watch this at primary school and it seriously gave me the shits, I used to have nightmares and couldn't go to the toilet alone! I did enjoy it though, kind of like horror movies today, wanted to watch it, but shouldn't of! lol great memories....

  • I remember this as a kid because of charn, it takes me back to where I saw it, obviously it looks less to the eye when your an adult but charn is still a good villian costume design, shame he does too much cape waving, but he is meant to be a worm like character anyway.

  • Voldermort is a complete ripoff of Charn! I had nightmares of Charn for about 3 years after we watched this in school.

  • He is just like voldemort. I checked, it's not the same actor though. I don't see why he didn't just breath fire on him to begin with though. It's like Dumbledore and Voldermort.

  • I loved this at primary school. Always wanted Charn to win x)

  • me too :P lol

  • most epic thing i ever seen at primary school, all i remember is that the purple person turns into a puddle :S

oh but this does bring back the memorys :)

  • oh my god we had to watch this in school when i was about 7! that charn thing had my mum and dad checking under my bed and leaving a light on for months! i was absolutly terrified of it, even had nightmares! even looking at him now gives me a ittle shiver! he's not exactly appropriate for kids is he?! lol i hope i sleep ok tonight...lol lol

  • bluecatscanfly

    lol

your right, i used to think the dragon was real and not a guy in a costume but i guess as you grow up your imaganation for theses things dassapear lol

  • Haha-

"when you watched this as a kid the dragon looked so real now it looks fake lol. "

I was thinking the exact same thing! I loved this show, it was amazing- looking back on it I remember how much I infused my imagination with it- the Gorwen i always summoned up in my mind's eye was a REAL DRAGON, not a guy in a costume and a hood!

  • lol. when you watched this as a kid the dragon looked so real now it looks fake lol. i used to be well scared of the skeliton thing when i was little lol this brings but great memories :)

  • charn = voldermort

  • yeah but charn is better!

  • oh i knew i loved this show for a reason - i went home jumping up and down excited after this

and how creepy was charn considering the show is meant for like 5 year olds (i think it was 5 year olds - bad memory)

  • Scary part at 1:18

  • Goddamn, how did I sleep at night when I was 6 after watching this kind of scary shit at school?

  • Absolutely the best thing about learning at Primary School. This is MILES better than some specky twat on a broom for kids to read!

  • coool brings back memories ha ha! :D

  • Charn is a fierce hot bitch, work it out CHARN!

  • Charn scared the fucking shit out of me when i was in year 2

    the nightmares were like z0mg

  • i was so fucking scared of charn when i first watched this

  • YEAH! Gorwen, Kick his ass! Use the chair! Yeah!

  • What an epic fucking battle. Goosebumps.

  • Gorwens wing span is immense.

i reckon charn was a dyslexic child who skorned the spelling of government and gnomes.

  • I was terrified of charn for about a year after the series finished. But now if you look closely you can see his beard under that bird mask. And he was shit at reading!

  • charn used to scare the shite out of me in primary skool. i cant remember what year i was in, but i used to luv this show

  • lol charn moves a bit like voldemort

  • earth warp scared the fuck out of me. but this was good. charn got pwned.

  • does any one know the next time they show this or where i can get it from

can some one (if they have it) put it in swapits ill giv u all mine

would like to see all of it thanks
