90's Country Music was the BEST and 80's Rock was the BEST! I HATE today's Music. I'm from Brooklyn, NY and all they play is this Hip-Hop and Rap CRAP! Today's Country Music HARDLY sounds like Country Music at all. What a crying shame.
Old whiney tears crap beats the stuff called country today. Cash,Jennings, Haggard, Porter, Charlie Pride, Ronnie Milsap, Johnny Rodriguez, Bobby Bare, Ferlin Husky, Faron Young, and manyothers are COUNTRY! Patty Lovelss could fart and it would have mor talent the these bozos that call themselves country today.
@behindthewolfseyes I know exactly what you mean! This was my absolute favorite song EVER when I was like 4... I always screamed till my mom turned it up in the car... still a good song, but far from my favorite :P
Wikipedia credits three guitarists on the album "Honky Tonk Angel": Paul Franklin, Albert Lee, Mac McAnally. Doesn't say which one played on "Timber", but whoever it was, that's some mighty fine pickin'!
Patty Loveless has it all--wonderful voice, good looks, a great song to sing and a great band to back her up (not to mention Vince Gill on harmony!). And who is that lead guitarist playing all those great Clarence White licks?
The way my dad sings this song is a better version then again he did write the song! His name is Kostas and he is my dad :) he also wrote Blame it on your heart!
Your dad is a friend of mine and one of my favorite songwriters - I've been listening to him for a long time! My favorite Kostas song is "If You Think", which Patty also recorded. But my all-time favorite version of "If You Think" was his performance of it in about 1992, when he opened for Taj Mahal in Bozeman. While introducing the song he talked about writing it during a snowstorm, and then sang it beautifully. It remains one of my favorite performances of any song! :) God bless you both!
This song sounds frightenly like 'Peggie Sue' by Buddy Holly.
Well, I like Peggy Sue so what the heck.

One of my favorite old songs. And did Patty ever date Burt Reynolds? I noticed a lot of Smokey and the Bandit stuff in the clip.

@kitchenrobert55 The old whiny tears in my beer crap? Contemporary country beats the old crap by a longshot.

I loved this song when I was a kid. It just doesn't strike a chord in me anymore. I guess people just change over time...

The Smoky tie in is interesting. Am I forgetting something? I used to play it for my daughter, too. She said 'Tim Bergen'.

Cool song from back in the days when Vince Gill wasn't yet a star himself but was the most in-demand session vocalist in the business.
