    Fuck yeah Muse

  • As a child, James watches his future self die.

  • worse movie ever!!!!!

  • @DiabloMercy Worst* grammar ever.

  • Are you divergent friend?

  • Terry Gilliam movies do tend to bring out the "Crazy" in people... O_O Just look at the Brazil videos, and this one as well...

I LOVE his movies, but dang! Ya'll need to stop taking it so seriously. I get all of the messages in each of the movies, I don't need some crazy person applying that meaning to some conspiracy theory that most likely isn't real... =_=

  • Notice how the pigs killed the hero while letting the villain escape.

    }:-(

  • So everything just loops?

  • It is a commentary on civilization, read the script, it is about the character Jeffery, he presents all the important lines, all the rest is distraction, a bit of misinformation to entertain the masses, while the rest who get it read the meaning in the characters, their interactions, and what the message is that they are delivering.

  • @jedoudddf Goines, stop glorifying yourself online, and go back to the institution

  • @Brok3nC4rrot You know I was not going to justify this with a response, but since I already did, I might as well finish with, what are you going on about, your inability to concisely communicate your message only serves to enhance your apparent inability to clearly understand my comment was commentary on the meaning of the movie, and the possible importance of the meaning as it pertains to present society, or no, maybe.

  • @jedoudddf My point was that what you said previously seemed quite in character with Goines - your turn of phrase, the manner in which you say that the story is all about him and not Cole or Dr. Railly (who really are the main characters), etc., and i was making a joke indicating that you where in fact the true Jeffery Goines, using the internet to make himself seem better than he really is.

  • @Brok3nC4rrot I got the joke, it was funny, I just thought I would continue the line of insanity, if that was not how it seemed, perhaps I should try again later, when they let me out.

  • this movie needs a sequal

  • in the end you can never prevent the inevitable

  • 1:07 DO NOT DARE TO RIP OFF THE MUSE POSTERS!!

  • wtf?

  • . This movie is the creepiest movie I ever saw, I know bipolar people who suffer from the same type of delusion, and this was before the movie was made. Being part of a prophecy can also cause it to happen we do make our on future from the past.

  • whos the man in the yellow jacket?

  • the beginning shall be the end and the end shall be the beginning

  • this already happened you have to trace back to the beginning when i was 5 i sacrificied myself to kill the king of the projects right? and then i stole some money from my mothers purse to eat a lotta sweets (fruitful) with my best friend now isnt this the same thing? i couldnt change a damn thing because it already happened but U HAVE TO recollect from when u was 5 years old ur memory from when u was 5 is ur destiny
  • ENDING EXPLAINED..... He did save the planet because by running after that guy and gettin killed he lead the future people right to that guy with the virus. eg. When the guy is on the plane at the end he sat beside the woman that came back in time to get him. P.S. This is not a guess because it is explained in DVD extras. I'll try to post it up :)

  • @jamiekerr99

Really? I thought that she was just there, as ain insurance woman in the world prior to the outbreak. she then became a scientist in the world that was post-apocalyptic. thus showing she was not a doctor at all, unveils the world that willis was actually living in, just a sham.

  • i dont get the ending with the kid. is he the kid or something?

  • @joshwaggoner14 yeah thats him as a boy witnessing his own death thats why he kept having those dreams haunting him throughout his adult life trippy stuff

  • 1:08 MUSE posters for the win.. they're the best band in the world btw

  • No the point of this movie is to show that time is circular not linear and that we never really die or live.

  • got a do a essay on this, and i hated the film any help?

  • @JDproductions999 You hated this film? But it's amazing! You could go at it from so many angles- time travel paradox (adult + child Cole), status quo + "sanity", the whole 'Cassandra Complex' angle, animal rights/ our treatment of people and animals, and it's relevance in today's age of "terrorism" and hysteria. It is scary that such a scenario in some ways could actually play out. Amazing movie, these things are only the tip of a very big iceberg. I would LOVE to write an essay on this movie!

  • @MrsFingerful Jean Charles de Menezes.

  • @JDproductions999 You're just an idiot, you probably failed. D:

  • @DoozyJr lol how do u know :0

  • the music is so pritty.

  • are there actually monkies in this film.

  • @Pull0utBoy 12 of em!

  • A transcendently beautiful work of art.

  • fuck the bozos!

  • I'm just glad this movie had a happy ending. that's all we can wish for four the world

  • @UFOnerd1 I could not stand the end of this movie until I realized the woman in the airplane was actually from the "present" and the delivery of the line "Oh me ... I'm in insurance"

  • @proadmin1 :O omg...they worked together...she doesnt want a cure. she was to ensure that it happend.

  • @TheWebcamcomedy "history" has to happen. Everything "must" / "does" occur , and the people from our future can't really alter that. What the "insurance lady" was doing was going back herself, to ensure they got as pure a copy of the virus as possible, in sitting next to the guy with the original canisters - mission accomplished - hopefully.

  • @UFOnerd1 do you mean you want humans dead.

  • you can't break this movie down in 2 min!! it's too awesome and too much.

  • never noticed the muse poster in that part until I watch this video. Vintage Muse...rock on!!

  • 12 monkeys,

  • all to say about this movie : fuck mankind

  • ...needs 5 seconds of Louis Armstrong singing "What A Wonderful World", though....

  • this wasnt "bad" exactly, but it didnt capture the movie correctly

  • The real point of this movie was to show you how dissent will be equated with terrorism when in fact it was not the "12 monkeys" The movie carefully depicts a very insane man that leads a rogue group, it is believed they are responsible when in fact they are not . I take it as a warning to look hard into reality to find the real facts. NO WORLD ORDER!!

  • @Faizon101 "No World Order?" That's MY line!

    \8-P

  • @Faizon101 Gamma Ray 'No World Order' ?

  • @Faizon101

Like your intelligence, it isn't there.

  • The Movie just like everything is actually really simple. Its all in your head

  • @azrial4421 well said

  • @azrial4421 did you watch the whole movie....durp

  • @TheWebcamcomedy yup, and my perception of it is not the same as yours...durp

  • she never planned to stop the guy just get the sample to help the future not change the past sooooo he will get stuck in the loop going on that mission and dying an infinite amount of times because the virus will be unleashed leading to the post apocolyptic future... ironically what gets changed is the future after 2035 but the movie made a good point posing the question what is the future/past... its all just a point of refernce sooo my head hurts i dont know where im going with this ahahahah

  • This is a great movie and this in-2-min would have made a great for-TV, late-night trailer or something. It's very tasteful and reflects more or less all the most important stuff in the movie, even if it doesn't manage to give the viewer that sense of "vertigo" or deja vu or whatever. But frankly, I think any compressed version of this movie would be way cooler if it was meant to be humorous. [I actually watched it assuming it would be humorous.]

  • The mission of the scientists in the future is pretty much completely accomplished by the end of the film. You have to remember that it was never Cole's mission to prevent the plague, but only to allow his superiors to obtain a sample of the virus so they can find a cure. The scene in the airplane at the end shows that one of those scientists (Jones) probably will get a sample of it.

  • @Kenyai I always took it as the notion that she was originally from the Philadelphia area - in that everyone is subtly connected - future and past, NOT that she was there on an incursion from the future to obtain the virus. I saw it as irony that the person looking desperately for the original virus in fact was sitting next to it just before the world ended.

  • could the lady have gone back a little further in time and take out dr.goinnes' assistant before it was too late. that could happen, but that would mean there would be no lady in the future to come back in to the past and take him out because aince he would be dead there won't any motive for the lady to go back in time by building a time machine.get it?

the time machine agrees with this, but now........i'm not sure about what happened in harry potter and the prisoner of azkaban.....help me

  • Ah, subtle racism. Deliciously evil.

  • This is a great movie - one of my favorites ever. Not a very good job condensing it but I could understand how difficult it could be because there are so many plot twists and it's one of those movies you understand better the 2nd time watching it... and even more the 3rd time... it's a learning experience every time.

  • Bravo

  • Not having seen the movie in a very long time, I found this video surprisingly confusing. I'm afraid you didn't do a very good job of condensing the major story points.

  • really? i thought the full movie was just as confusing

  • The original of this film is only 28 minutes long and is called La Jetée by director Chris Marker, 1962. Shot in cinemascope, la jetée is a masterpiece known only to real film buffs and people who work in the industry. 12 monkeys is Gilliam's lengthened version made for commercial release.

  • Are you responding to someone who is challenging this?

  • Hi, no I haven't been following the conversation in this forum, jus thought you might like to know.

  • I don't see how you think you covered the story in this two minute clip, and hard? you are retarded, you wasted your time.

  • That totally confused me. Guess I better just watch the movie...

    Wolfe

  • watch the Making of 12 MONKEYS! :)

    watch?v=D8zd6HBhuQI

  • this is real

  • Heres where I get hazy. Obviouslt she hasnt aged from herself in 2035 to 1997. However, the dream sequence and time paradox show he had been handed a gun in the previous paradox. So will it continue to loop, or are we just seeing just one of the endless paradox cycles, and the reality is she goes back and gets the pure germ covering as an insurance agent. This is one of my favorite movies. I love it!!

  • I liked the combination of the line "invisible to the naked eye" and the shot of Willis and Stowe in disguise.

  • Actually I'm only sure it's real i'm not sure i have travelled. thanks

  • I traveled - Reincarnation. watch a solid video then contact me and get my story. maybe.....

  • Time travel is possible but very tricky. I can prove it. The destination is not absolut

  • then prove it.

  • Excellent 2 minute summary. I think it really hits the high points. Of course, I already know the movie. I don't know if it would work so well for someone who hasn't seen it. That's not a fault of the craft, just the fact that as others have commented, it's an intricate movie.

  • good video for trying to explain what is a pretty intricate movie. nice 2 minute summary.

as for everyone who's having a problem figuring out the plot...its not that difficult, really. j. cole will forever be stuck in the time loop since he did not succeed in stopping dr peters. end of story.

  • monkey mon-key mon-key mon-KEY.......

  • =)

    Lol

I like Bred in this movie

  • A loaf of bread?

  • i think she/he meant bread

  • brad

  • ok 1 becouse cole is very violent 2is like a bug the end is the start and the tart is the end nothing can change! maybe the present in 2035 but the past cant be changeged

bradd pitt lol but very nice grat movie 5*

  • I want to watch this movie over. I saw it when I was 14 or 15 and I thought the acting performances were fantastic but I was so confused. Reading some of these comments helped though.

  • except the scientist lady from the future gets a sample of the virus to make a cure at the end on the plane

  • u know i never even considered that. I always assumed that that was her in the real time of 1997 but then she looks the same age so its obvious that shes been sent back in time to get the pure sample of the virus.

  • hey man I never thought of that, it is obvious yes, when you think about it....She looks the same in 1996 and in 2035....But she doesn't know the guy next her is the source of contamination

  • when do you see her in 2035?

  • Well movies about time travel are always really interesting, because in the grand scheme of things the past cannot be diverted it will happen, it must happen, nothing can change it, haven't you seen or read the time machine? it explains that, no matter what, time cannot be changed

  • Thats just speculations anyway.

If something has been changed, nobody will have noticed because everyone has experienced the alternative version of "time".

  • Brad Pitt was amazing. Here is my question. Why send Bruce Willis to the past when he is the one who came up with the idea and told Brad Pitt about it in the Psych Ward to exterminate? Heep Willis from the past, Maybe the whole thing is diverted?

  • Pitt doesn't know anything about virus. That is David Morse's idea.

  • this movie goes way deeper than that . Scientists dont know that it was a time paradox kind of thing, they simply believed what cole told them , and at the end as cole said its not about the virus its about following orders , the scientist dont want to prevent the attack , the need the pure form of virus so they can use it for their political position in the post apocalyptic world. that last scene where jose hands the gun to bruce no one knew who was he suppose to shoot untill railly told him so

  • also the whole idea of the virus has originated from jose ( the guy cole meets at the old war) being sent at the wrong time ,who was mentioned in the lecture by railly . as the prophecy was told Dr.peters was insane enough to fulfill it. also other than a couple of co incidences u never know if cole was seriously from the future or just schizo.

  • wow man.. u go deeeep... i love it lol... ty for commenting that... i just saw it so i didnt have to time to analyze... also that lady taht a 12monkeys guy met who was on the scientist commitee said she was in insurence so she wasnt a scientist, how would she find or any of them find the cure?

  • why does everyone think this happens over and over again? Bruce Willis led the woman doctor (that was in the future making him go back in time to stop the disaster) right to doctor Peters, we see doctor Peters on the plane sit right next to her, we dont see her actually stop him, but of course she does. hence stopping the disaster. hence all the future part of the film never happens, bruce as a young man grows up in a normal world, no disaster

    Thats my opinion

  • Wow i never really thought about the doctor part like that :]

  • Or the lady doctor could have been in on it the whole time.

  • i agree, the woman doctor 'jones' is the same age as she is in 2035, no aging difference at all. the being 'in insurance' is clearly a cover story.

  • exactly!!!!!!!!!!

  • I think the same as you my friend

  • ill make this easy morans:

    1)cole is born

2)cole grows up and gets thrown in jail

3)cole gets sent back in tome to earn a pardon

    4)cole gets shot and dies

    THE END

you sheep need to FORGET about the time travel aspect of it.

  • Exactly. I just don't get where the difficulty is in this. It's not exactly advanced quantum theory or anything. It's pretty straightforward...

    :D

  • "Correct me if I am wrong, James Cole (the Boy) sees himself being shot as an adult. He then becomes the adult and gets sent back in time to save the world. Then, at the airport, he gets shot only to be seen by himself as a child. The time loop never closes...right?"

  • Uhhh. . . actually you left out a key part: the airplane scene at the end (after cole gets shot) where the scientist sits down next to the guy with the virus.

  • the fucking airplane scene at the end, was against gilliams intention because some assholes thought, that this would promote a more positive message and that the normal end (james cole as kid in that parking area) would hurt sales.

  • good attempt but its like trying to sum up the whole story of the lord of the rings on a piece of paper...not possibly but in 2 minutes, yew did a brilliant job =)

    x

  • Your arguement is voided by the fact that it explains in the second movie that Arnold is playing a different terminater, but the same model.

  • The time paradox reminds me of one presented in my thoughts about the film The Terminator. Let's say arnie actually manages to execute sarah connor... at the time in the future from which he is sent, the objective is to prevent the existence of john connor. Arnie goes back in time and kills sarah, but then when time reaches the date at which he's sent from, the objective to prevent john connors existence cannot be concieved, as it would acknowledge his existence. In other words...

  • If the terminator actually kills sarah, john never exists, and the mission to prevent john's existence is never concieved. Hence, arnie is unable to kill sarah no matter how badass he is.. Like 12 monkeys, this demonstrates how, in theory, knowledge obtained in the future cannot be acted upon to change the past, as that knowledge itself would change. Hence, it is impossible to change the past.

But they're just films, if they maintained accuracy, then they lose their entertainment values

  • Comments in ascending order. read properly before saying im a douche or anything.. Oh yeah, and i'm not trying to be a nerd talkin shit about time travel, i'm just merely offering an observation.. in truth i have no academic qualification to dicuss either films or physics. keep that in mind when your trying to argue against or slander me.

  • I completely agree... I thought this since Back To The Future... You just can't change things from the future. Good Explanation!

  • The reason it was Brad Pitt in one of his dreams is because Cole's mind was playing tricks on him. Remember when he told Dr. Railly she'd been in his dreams but he never knew it was her before. She denied it was her but it became her because he abducted her. So it was never Brad Pitt with the suitcase. It became him because of what was happening. It's another little piece in there that means you'll never know if this was real or all his delusion.

  • No, he was in a prison within the underground society, that's the whole premise of why he was coerced into travelling back in time in the first place. Has anyone else here even seen the film? Christ, it even mentions this in the video you supposedly watched prior to making that comment.

  • She can't and doesn't stop him, since he's already released the virus by that point. As the scientists said at the beginning of the film, the future cannot be changed and the purpose of using time travel is to gather data about the virus from the past to be utilised in the present/future for research purposes.

  • correctamundo

  • You can discuss the time travel paradox all you want. But did anyone ever notice that in Bruce's dreams the man with the suit case(and virus) is Brad Pitt, something Bruce did must have effected the loop. Perhaps it was the call the psychiatrist made to Brad Pitt's father. Or perhaps it was an accident.

  • something worth noting is the psychologist takes up doom prophecy after he escapes from the hospital and you could infer that that that guy is influenced by her or by her writings or the subject itself

  • the past can't be changed (period). Bruce saw Pitt's face in his dream because of his own mental state. after all, what you think always affects a dream

  • Agreed with the others. The initial disaster cannot be stopped - if the scientist was to stop the virus from spreading, there wont be a future for her to go back to the past from, to stop the virus. This is not to say they dont find a cure after this (in 2027) - they just cant prevent the human race wipe out of 1997.

  • oh fuck! is muse ep in teh wall....!

  • this time loop never ends. It wouldnt make a difference if the scientist-woman on the plane or anybody else would stop Dr. Peters.

The reason is if u travel back time u are going in another parall-universe "another dimension" and this wont influence the "real" universe of time.

  • all the stuff u are saying hasnt bin provin

  • well the Prove is at the airport. It s young James Cole. If Dr.peters would have been stoped, the changes would only affect on this particular "dimension of time". In the "real" 2035 mankind would still live underground and J. Cole(B.Willis) would be sent back in time. Only the cure can help them to get back on their feed.

Its not the same as in "Back to the future" with M.J.Fox ;D

  • and also its a metaphore for religion, james cole or jc cough cough "jesus" is trying to save man so he dies so that future man can live on but the story has to be done over and over again, kinda how u hear what happened to jesus over and over again so that the future world can prosper, james cole is in some ways imortal because he will continue to live in a time loop saving the world being resurected again and again, kind of what it says in the bible about jesus being resurectected

  • James Cole only goes through the loop once.

As a boy, he sees a man shot and killed. He grows up, goes back in time, and turns out to be the man he saw being shot and killed. Loop closed.

It amazes me how many people can't see this!

  • You are right. The time changes ain't loops, it's just his life. His loop starts again when he dies.

  • no thats not what happens, they cant stop it, its impossible in order for there not to be a paradox she lets the virus guy do his stuff she just gets a sample to take to the future to make an antidote so humans dont have to live underground, cole says repeaditly in the movie i cant save u no one can this all already happend im just trying to geet us back in charge of the planet

  • You can't change the past even when its the future. 12 Monkeys 101. (Figure that sh@t out.) Time is actually in a single piece with no inertia. You've been here before. You'll be here again. The arrow of time is only your point of view right now. Entropy is the current illusion your trapped in. Heaven so to speak would be its opposite. You've been there before to and you'll be there again...

  • 12 monkeys is like a endless rope, he goes back to future and see himself, die and the young boy (himself) make the same Adventure.

  • He was very young when the virus broke out. So, he went to live underground with the rest of the survivors. As an adult later on underground, he committed a crime, went to jail, and was released to travel back in time and fix what went wrong.

  • I watched this movie 5 times before I understood everything. But the thing I dont get is. How did little James Cole end up in a maximum security underground prison?

  • That isn't covered in the movie. With James' violent tendencies...one can easily speculate how he ends up in prison in the future.

  • Bah, even with 2 HOURS there are still a million interpretations to this movie.

  • lol ^^
