All we do is steal resources from other countries. Service men/women pay in blood, tears and pain and then thrown to the streets. DON"T JOIN EVER!
This video made me see this song from a different light. It made me cry from thinking of when my fiancee was over seas and made me remember how much I missed and worried about him. It also makes me think about how things will be when I get into the military now that he is getting meded out. Thank you for remembering our troops and their families.
@britzyXgirlX09 hey i do still from vietnam i was a crewchief on dustoff talking to the soldiers when you get them on board talking to keep them from going in shock talk about their girls an wives back home. i still cry every time i here it
@Somewheremaybe And I definitely should thank you for uploading this; the images are powerful and convey honest emotion that guys would probably hide from most of the men they serve with, most of the time. It's good to be reminded of the sacrifices they make to help keep their mother country secure and flourishing. Then I will let my gratitude compel me not to take for granted the blessings which are bestowed on me, and to strive to be as unselfish and courageous as they.
@Somewheremaybe I served from 70-96 (a 4 year break for college). No singer or group has performed this song with the emotional intensity of the Righteous Brothers, to include many of the greats. My children (grown) feel it's sad. For me, it's a Happy song (and I hide the tears). It causes me to think, remember, and appreciate the treasure God has given. The melody and words are not mine. The memories and emotions are. I have that in common with millions of others. It is not sadness, only love.
A very powerful tune that still evokes powerful memories. I recall dancing to this song with a young army nurse in an officer's club in Saigon (Rex Hotel) in late 1970. As the song went on, outwardly, we could have been at a high school dance back home except for the uniforms. At the same time we were both overcome with thoughts of those we had left back in the US, and the feeling it was so far away as to be untouchable. Thanks for posting this. 1LT USMC, HMM-263. (usually at Marble Mountain)
I grew up in a country at war. Growing up behind windows with sandbags in front, 6 ft electrified fencing was not joke either, however I felt safe. If I were now living in that same country with the pretence of democracy and so called freedom I would run a mile. Despotic rulers do NOT deserve the freedom they give themselves yet deny the very people who voted them in.
To those very soldiers trying to make our world free. THANK YOU. God bless and we will never forget you
War is one of the reasons why i hate mankind, but for how much i love it, i try putting my feet in others shoes. I rote a song on the voice of the soldiers thats called " we're gonna leave this place HOMEMADE" You can find it here on youtube , i expressed myself with my hart in it. Very nice video, it made cry, ya, i'm a man ho does.
amazing video, amazing song... salute to all the soldiers fighting a war they got no business fighting. if music like this helps you get thru the shit let it play on.....
@supermojo89 Yes...thank you! I can't even imagine what you are feeling, but I can pray for you and your family! I pray for your safe return home...soon! God bless you and all our brothers!
I have heard that some of our soldiers were spat upon after coming back from Nam. I'm surprised that there weren't any killings in the bay area during that time. In the morning you're on patrol, next day you're in Frisco, still in a killing mode. My people welcomed me back with open arms, hugs, beer, and kisses. Had a welcome home party the next day with about 300 people including dogs. Where I come from we are taught not to spit on people and soldiers are considered holy. Welcome home, Nam vets
Great video. My little nephew is going to join up with the army. Everybody tells me not to worry, but it's kinda hard. He's my little nephew and best friend. Prayers for the best.
i want to thank you for uploading this, i lost a close friend in operation panthers claw, in helmand and we used to sing this song while we waited to go out on patrol.

Wonderful!! Thank you for creating this. I listened to this song while on active duty back when the song came out. Still makes me cry, so much emotion in the song and super performance by the Righteous Brothers. My girlfriend and I got to see them live a few months before I went on active duty. Lost her while serving, but we still talk today -- 45 years later. We both love this song and it has a very special place in our hearts. It has been my #1 favorite since I heard it. Thank you again.
These were the feelings of our men and women who were protecting us, from the ravages of war. Love is a strong emotion, that we all need. Imagine being a million miles away in a strange land. They needed reasurance that love was still waiting for them at home. Welcome home, thanks to you making this the greatest country in the world.....God bless
This song had us all crying in the Nam...I eventually sent a "Dear Joan" letter to my girlfriend..It was a pure unadultrated bitch..but I did it...She was certainly hangin with "Jody" and my fratenity brother kept me posted...but alas he "Hit ON Her" talk about being diosapointed..never held it against him...
Guess we are are on different pages. This song is meant to provide us with an insight to the beauty that is with in us. This song is about longing to love and to be loved. To set it against violent images of battle, pictures of those dying or wounded is romanticizing war. Don't get me wrong. I support our military, but there is nothing romantic about war. This song and images of war should never have been linked. One speaks of beauty beyond definition. The other, pure horror. That simple.

@Somewheremaybe Dear Friend, A wonderful video. I see a topic you care about Vietnam. Perhaps you fought there! I did the Soviet military, my grandfather fought in the 2nd World War. Respect for the USA relating to his people! You're very nice people!

@Somewheremaybe he say that he is a comander in the soviet army. also he said his grand dad fought in w w 2... he said he admire the people of the usa,, and he said that if we want peace be ready to fight.. because they live in tyrany they can not do that..as a complement he said God Bless America....to me he is a very nice person
Beautiful song. Especially when you're over there. Then to finally come home again. But she's changed her mind, because you've changed so much. Sucks. But it don't mean nothin'. I still love this song. RIP Bobby Hatfield.
This is so strong! Only us that have deployed and those left behind to wait can truly understand the deep feelings shown here. It shows respect, love honor and duty. God Bless all that wore and still wear our countries uniform!
Beautiful song and touching video... I want to say than you to all of our past and current men and women serving in the military, and a specific thank you to my husband, who is currently serving in Afghanistan. Joshua, thank you so much, sweetheart. <3
Thanks for sharing..I was drafted in 1966 and caught my ex running around just before shipping out to Nam..Filed for divorce and it become final while I was in Nam..
You think this song and Bobby Hatfields rendition din't f--- us up while being in the NAM...the Dear Johns sent to some of my men..may those bitches rot in hell.
made me cry. I mailed the link to my husband who deployed on sunday. God bless all who serve. come home safe baby. I ll wait til hell freezes over. Strike Deep 815 all the way
@alwayshisgirl815 Thanks to you and your loved ones for your service and sacrifice......you are in our thoughts and prayers this holiday season......kindly!
@Somewheremaybe No thanks needed, the honour is to be allowed to serve:-) Having said that the thanks lets us know we are apprecited. My husband is navy and I am army. God Bless all the US troops deployed with us.I may banter with the US boys but at the end of the day we fight for the freedom of two great nations. Americ nd the uk are cousins nd except for a few disagreements consigned to history your fights are ours. Happy Thanksgiving and a good Christmas,
@alwayshisgirl815 gdawsey here. My wife played this when I would leave. You mean no disrespect to your Warrior. Not understanding that this nation has Warriors that even the Spartans would envy robs you from appreciating the quality of that warrior who stands between you and any threat, without thought. Show him pride as he walks away, he will need that strength. The tears you save for his return. Read Joshua, 1 ch. verse 9.
Thank you for your lovely, poignant and powerful postings! A picture IS worth a thousand words but so is this song...quite possibly the world's most perfect song, in lyrics and melody.
Very powerful song . Hard to believe it was made so many years ago .. Timeless indeed...As good as this video is I still give the nod to "Ghost" . Its just too powerfull .
That last clip, the memorial. Touching

Господи, храни Америку! Оплот демократии во всём мире! Будьте начеку! Хотите мира-готовьтесь к войне! Мы из страны тирании можем лишь восхищаться вашими достижениями! Респект!

Just to think that the men fighting in vietnam were younger than me. Im 28....... they were just young men. My truest sentiments go out to them.

Read Joshua, 1 ch. verse 9.
