I love when guys sing Ani's songs, it shows that they are universal! Betrayal isn't exclusive to one gender, I guess. Great performance, I just loved your take on the song. Ani plays with it so much on stage, and you have the same way of making it "of the moment" instead of just copying what's on the record.

BTW, do you actually have 12 strings on that guitar? A friend plays a 12-string with only 6 strings because he likes the wider neck. If you do play with 12, how do you tune them?

Thanks again for the lovely compliment. To answer your question, it's all in the wrist. If you look at my right arm, it barley moves. All the movement comes from my wrist and relaxing my hand as much as possible. This allows me to have much more control over which notes I want to accent. I also choke way up on my pick to where I'm almost not playing with one at all. Give it a try. Hope that helps!

Not a dumb question and can defenitely be done on a six string. I just liked the way my 12 string sounded for this one.

I agree, definitely not a dumb question, especially if you don't know anything about 12-string guitars. It's basically the same as a 6-string, but with with six extra strings in the same tuning, but higher up to create excellent harmonies.

So in standard tuning it's: EeAaDdGgBbee

And you're right--I love the sound of it on the 12-string. Fantastic cover.

Yeah, I had to go educate myself a little after watching this video. The second chord doesn't work for me on a 6-string but it could definitely be user error. I'm certainly going to bookmark this one to try if I ever end up with a 12-string.

Oh...this is my favorite Ani song of all. You more than did it justice. And I think it's one of those songs that it doesn't matter what gender you are when you sing it.
