  • This guy knows what he is talking about. I was a 5 handicap twenty years ago. I had surgery and took time off. I sought help for the last 10 years, and no one could tell what I was doing wrong. After this tip, I am back. I hit the ball 30 yards farther and my scores are coming down. Listen to him. He knows.

  • Excellent video-any tips for better footwork. My right foot wants to spin back and left foot spins left. I guess I want to bump laterally mor towards my left little toe while dropping vertically

  • instant classic, essential viewing for every golfer. Just wish we could see more from him!

  • The BEST ever instruction in YOUTUBE. Others just confuses golfers... THis is what Rory Mcilroy is doing exactly the same...

  • Thanx very informative

  • Just had to post, you really get it!!!.Out of all these people on youtube...you are the best I have seen.I want to know more

  • 4:13 get the phone

  • I hate people who post golf instruction on the internet; however this video could be the best piece of info on youtube regarding the start of the downswing. Good job

  • What would you say your head is doing while your hips are sliding forward? Are you trying to keep it in the same place or does it move also?

  • @Zman1787 I don't put alot of emphasis on what my head is doing. I like to think that if I was wearing a tie, the knot on my tie would stay pretty still. This lets my neck move side to side to give any observers the 'look' of a still head. I can assure you that I don't feel like it "doesn't move"

  • Would you execute the same way for driver? What's the difference if there's any?

  • @pinoytoits I would use it for all clubs. The driver is longer and it's teed up but my pivot stays the same. send me a video of your swing!

  • @smartergolflessons Is it possible for you to give us a link for the article titled "Pass for lateral power"?

    Thanks for an excellent video.

  • I have been viewing lots of video but this is the first detailed explanation i have seen, specially the bumping of the hips toward the target line and dropping of hands.. good one..

  • amazing swing, if your swinging over the top pay attention this will fix it . keep it simple dont use so much energy in the backswing just load up and follow his sequence on the downswing.. #1 video ive seen...

  • Thanks!

  • Very interesting. Well explained and presented. Liked the explanation of the kinetic chain in the downswing. Made sense and was easy to understand.

  • @tmajik86 - Tiger has been hitting it the furthest and highest he has ever hit it in his life. The ball could start right, but there's alot going on between the clubface and the hip to make it a constant.

  • Sliding laterally will move the bottom of your swing foward and cause you to start the ball right. Look at Tiger, he does this move and his driving accuracy is around 58%, terrible

  • great video and what a nice swing! i am wondering if this swing holds true for the driver also? and do you have anymore video lessons available? i looked for the website but i dont think it exist anymore

  • @Mcshowlow, as mr. T would say "I PITY THE FOOL!" and in this case u would definately be the fool! u just watched this man hit ball after ball after ball, and every shot was as pure as ANYBODY could strike it. the rythym and tempo is absolutely beautiful! i cant wait to get to the range and work on this and i suggest that u try this also! i mean, theres just no denying this swing, i'm surprised that this guy is TEACHING instead of playing on the pga tour and winning MAJORS!

  • Grreat video! Who is the instructor and where is he from? Are there any more of his videos or other materials out there?

  • Best explanation of the hips that I have seen. Who is the instructor? Where is he from? Does he have any other instruction videos or materials?

  • Great video - Can you make too much of a lateral move?I found that if i made any lateral move my ball wound up further back in my stance hence I hit a low punch.Any idea howI can make the lateral move and not let this happen?I've tried varying degrees of movement(Lateral) and the low shot is still and issue.

  • @secrettogolf

I find that most don't move enough and I haven't seen someone who's hip slide is excessive. If you find you can get the ball high enough, feel like you push your hips up, raising your belt buckle

  • this is crap. show me one tour pro who moves his hips laterally more than 5 or 6 inches.

  • @Mcshowlow this is not crap at all. It is the main discussion in Ben Hogan's Five Lessons. The key here is to keep your back when doing this. I'm sure you've seen the tour players keep their head back until the right shoulder brings it up. By doing this, if you do the lateral move while holding your head back...your hips can only slide so far until they rotate on their own, which is 5 or 6 inches anyway. Watch Ben Hogan vids and you will see exactly what I just described.

  • great video, you seem to have very minimal turn of the hips on the backswing, can you talk about the action of the hips on the backswing, restriction of hip rotation vs free rotation of hips on backswing?

  • @avidgolfer2000 more hip turn helps the hands travel on a more shallow path - more around the body. Updated swing has more hip turn than this video

  • great advice...I'd wouldn't exaggerate the lateral move as much as in your slo-mo demo...but I think you are probably doing that for lucidity. Your actual real speed swing looks great with the more moderate lateral shift.

  • Can somebody help me I have a problem I am moving my arms before my hips and I am hitting mean hooks. Are there any low Handicappers that can help me I have tried everything to get my hips moving first I just cant do it. :(

  • I need help i am moving my arms before my hips and I am hitting ugly hooks. It seems that it is impossible to move my hips first. Is there any low handicappers out there that could help me?

  • @CDTC9377, do you have video?

try balancing on your front foot and hit full 8 irons

  • howdy, great video and technical knowledge. my question however, is can there be too much hip slide. lately i've been having trouble squaring my clubface, and all my iron shots are fading 5-10 yards right of my target. i've tried strengthening my grip, but i'd rather cure the issue instead of bandage it. any ideas? thanks.

  • @senorchipotle, I don't think you can physically move your hips too far forward, but your upper body can fall back in an attempt to really push forward. If you're hitting fades, then the path is across the ball. I may recommend holding your upper body over the golf ball

  • @smartergolflessons... thanks man, but i figured it out about two weeks ago. my grip was all screwed up, funny eh? i do make a concerted effort to keep my head slightly behind the ball so as not to swipe across the ball. that grip change has got me back to playing solid golf. thanks for replying.

  • Brilliant

  • Great video....BTW, at the begining of this video, could you tell us what is the name of the book?

  • KOC, I'm not sure but I can find out for you.

  • Waiting for you...THX

  • nice..thanks. i have this problem
