1st time I've seen that! Wow 100 years old. That is amazing. I wish there was more old footage like this. Cheers for putting it up and kudos to jcwb2003. In Sam we trust COYI X
This was actually one of the Irons' first big wins, was it not? I believe a few months after this match Man Utd (like nowadays) won the Football League title. The Hammers weren't even in the Football League at the time.
wow! 1911! the magic of television opened a portal to time! that's an amazing video, there are our roots, the roots of the beautiful game!!! thanks so much for posting it!
Captain Beecher was an early 19th Century steeplechase jockey. He is famed for falling into a brook at Aintree in the first Grand National of 1839, the fence now bears his name {with 1 e}. Despite his fame for failure he was the Tony McCoy of the era.
Captainbeecher, thanks for adding that video. I have a blood relative who played in that match ( Danny Shea) and would be interested to know whether you have any more footage of matches that he played in or of the west ham team that he played in. Thanks in advance
Thanks Iron, Afraid I can't find any more footage of Danny either in his Hammer's days or at Blackburn where he later won the title. That said, he was still playing well into the 1920s so there probably is footage out there somewhere.
