Sweet machine. What's the deal with your steering. It appears to always be turning right?
You have power steering - is that so?
When I had my 72 nova it took a good firm grip and turning was much the same body motion as rowing a boat. NO power steering, a muncy tranny and a positraction 488 rear end that fought any turn. With the 80lb hayes clutch I shattered the springs a couple of times.
Mine sounded identical. Use to tac it higher, around 6 to 7 thousand before shifting. Thanks!
Question? I have a ZZ3, Mine doesnt run out of power till 7800 or so, seems like you shift at like 5K? Are you feeling it level off torque wise? Just seems awful early to be shifting a SBC, awesome vid man 5 stars
yeah the zz4's are good for at least 6800 rpms easy. i used to run one in my sport modified dirt car. they make very good power with the right fuel/intake/ignition setup! i used to go down the straights at almost 8000. and all i had was a different carb/intake on the motor its self.
This is a street car, with street tires, driven to the track and raced in street trim. The line lock violates the primise of a foot brake launch. The shift light is set early because the TH-350 has no shift kit, and thus a signifigant delay in shifts. I have raced this track more than a few times, I am pretty sure I know where to let off. Otherwise, thanks for you comment.
the B&M shift improver kit is very much worth the money and time to install. however, depending on your gearing, i wouldn't get that high stall of a converter for a street car. or else its just going to be slipping all the time on the freeway. get her dyno'd and get a stall just a few hundred RPM below peak torque.
i run a 4500 stall on the street in my 3200lb Nova..it made 514hp/477tq. i have been running the stock TH350 with a kit and a art carr 4500 stall converter...yes your right at cruising speeds it will not lockup, but i only drive my car 2 days a week maybe..one thing i love about it is i can drive down the road at 45mph...put it to the floor and the tires will start spinning immeadiatly.
thats really cool. is that nova an automatic? i have an automatic and i want to race and i was just looking for some possible guidance

The stock ignition starts to break up at about 6k and the manufacturer rated red-line is 5.8k. Perhaps with an aftermarket cam and ignition...

What type of rear end gearing do you have.
When I was young I had 488 gears in the back. Broke the springs a number of times in street runs.
Haven't heard that sound in years. The sound of a real motor.
Run your specs, engine (350) nitrous, carb ???, cam (sounds stock), tires, trany, rear end. I'm just curious.

ill tell ya rite now, if you just throw a $40 B&m shift improver kit and a 3500 stall converter in it, it will feel like 100hp more i gaurentee it.
