As far as Blu Ray on a Microsoft console... Facepalm... Sony would stand to lose more money than they would make by helping Microsoft in any way in the next generation. Microsoft would have to pay BILLIONS for anything like that to happen, so don't count on it.

What I was getting at with the Kinect 2 is that Microsoft doesn't give a fuck about the hardcore gamers, they want to be the next Nintendo, because that's where the money is. Look at Microsoft's history, it is riddled with proof that they only care about one thing... MONEY!

Microsoft said the Kinect 2 is something they are going to focus on in the next generation. And the rumor is that the 720 is 20% more powerful than the Wii U. The 6670 is cheap and off the shelf, that is totally in line with what Microsoft has always done with their hardware. You forget, Microsoft is primarily a software developer.

@videogamejo Wrong, they didn't create Blu-ray nor do they own it, Sony only partially owns Blu-ray. Also, Sony partially owns DVD as well but the Xbox 360 runs games on DVD. SO it's possibly for Microsoft to acquire Blu-Ray as well.

What Nintendo is using, is a BluRay without the ability to play movies.

Also, were you not aware that Sony owns rights to DVDs and CDs too? Sony gets royalties for those too and that obviously doesn't stop Microsoft from using those. So why would Sony' proprietary share of BluRay stop Microsoft from using it in XBOX 3?

You got a lot of games that are eating up 25-40GB of data, but a good portion of that is 5.1, 6.1, and 7.1 compressed and uncompressed audio. Just to give you an idea, an compressed 3 to 4 minute song could be as large as 30MB by itself. That's just one song without all the extras of surround sound thrown in

I don't know about anyone else, but Blu ray will remain irrelevant for me until it's fully utilized for games. I'm talking about vast open worlds, visuals that are unmatched, and 1080p with no compromises.

@IcyRhythms if 360 had used blu-rays this gen, it probably would've been fully utilized between both the 360 and PS3. basically, developers had to compromise the games b/c 360 had limited storage (i.e. battlefield 3 on consoles would've graphically mirrored the PC version).

I think next generation it will play more of a role. Just don't know if it will be by a lot or a little.

I think part of the problem is that developers weren't ready for a larger canvas. The cost of production for these game has gone up so high that it's ridiculous. We will probably never see BR used to the best of its capabilities. I would love a sequel to Red Dead with two or three times the size and just as much for a more lengthy story.

They didn't drop DLC for it. MS paid to have the DLC for Skyrim timed exclusive from what I read.

@IcyRhythms true. they will find a way to milk us. as for bethesda, they have great ideas and games if they worked properly. i almost never trade in games but fallout3 was an exception. i actually loved that game but it kept crashing my ps3; plus it was glitchy/buggy. i played the demo to RAGE and that game is beautiful. i plan to get the game of year version (w/ all the DLC) for cheap when it comes out. :)

LOL I'm not an Xbox gamer at all, but making a system to make used games not work on it might be a pretty bad idea. But I think they're more using a "Product Key" method like they do on the PC. Also, believe it man..M$ rushed the X360 to get it out before the PS3, and they'll do it again.
