  • I have a copy of get out and walk. The bands first album. And for info they are English and from Narrich.

  • Saw these guy's at a gig in Norfolk 1983-5, when I played sax with the Odd Eccentric,

remember spending the night before sleeping in the doorway of the milk yard...

  • Stewart Lee's Comedy Vehicle <3

  • They arent the real Farmer Boys

  • Someone please listen to Belle & Sebastian's 'Wrapped Up In Books' and tell me the chorus sounds exactly the same as 'In The Country's' chorus. The Farmer's Boys were such an obscure band that I doubt anyone else has noticed the obvious similarity between the two.

  • @MisterKamikazi

If they do sound the same then Belle and Sebastian ripped off a Cliff Richard song as he did In the country first

  • go Norfolk!

  • hey guys it the lead singers daughter here ITS MY DAD and hes not german! lol .x

  • @GagaTemycherrypie must be nice having these vids of him x

  • @GagaTemycherrypie It was Baz wasn't it?

  • @GagaTemycherrypie Your dad and the lads were the greatest indie band ever. It is a crime they were not massive. I used to buy all their singles on release and prey they made the top 40. Everybody ripped them off and got on top of the pops.

  • I saw these guys when they played a gig in Leicester .. a lifetime or two ago

  • Wait a minute... are there two European bands called 'Farmer's boys'?

  • Only just realised that these guys are German? Their English is very good isn't it? Well done guys!

  • @chrissiehayward uhhh, they're English

  • Man is this band typical 60's! I don't know if their image is supposed to be that, but going off the other videos I've just watched they have that same amateurish presentation of a lot of the bands of the 60's? Not sure yet whether I like them? I found these vids by accident. Are they well known in the U.K.? Not known here in the U.S.

P.S. I had fogotten that Riff Pilchard had originally done this song. Wonder if this band will do other covers of his or from the Shadows? Wonderful Land e.g.?

  • I used to work for the dad of the lead singer

  • Perfect pop! A Cliff song NEVER sounded so gooooooood...

  • Wow! thanks!

I have been looking for this song for years.

    Fantastic!

    -x-x-x-x-x-x-

  • LOL - I remember the "Joy of Cress" postcard that came with the 7".

  • Soooooooooooooo remember this song from summer 1984,being played alot on Radio1 and watching it on cable TV at that time! Its fantastic cover version by them, and a shame it wasnt a hit in the UK! Great memories from 84, and Brilliant post! Thanks!!! Benja :-)

  • Wow, I remember seeing them in Nightmoves in Glasgow in the early 80's the Sunday after they appeared on TOTP

  • OMG I used to go to nightmoves!!!!!! It was great!

  • still love this song after all these years !!!

  • Anybody who covers a Cliff Richard song wants gassing!

  • they went to our school hahahahahah woop!

  • At 1:00, the hairy git in the river - is it Big Ron off Eastenders?

  • is it my weird imagination or is this video about thatcher and the closer or factories and The miners' strike

  • My God it does sound like the Divine Comedy doesn't it?

  • Brilliant. I didn't realise how much these lads influenced the Divine Comedy - amazing.

  • are those the same farmer boys, who made here comes the pain?

  • no, check wiki for it

  • the bass player mark is my dad

  • I have this single, I still have my 'Joy of Cress' postcard that came with it.

Is 'Muck it Out' posted anywhere?

  • I went to their last gig in Norwich.........

  • Well, I'm not sure that if it is that "Farmers Boys In the Country (From Cinderella). CINDERELLA? :D IF someone knows that this is the right one, please tell me. :D

  • There appears to be a "More than a dream" in Cinderella, but it's definitely not the one by the Farmer's Boys. And also there is no original or cover of Cliff Richard's "In the country" in Cinderella either.

  • I couldn't find it, I tried.

  • You can buy it on itunes... just type in the band and the song names :D

  • Please contact me if anyone has this as a mp3-song! Immediately! :D

  • this brings back a lot of memories of the john peel inspired 'norwich scene.' When I was a 15 year old lad living in norwich, my first band used to open for the farmers boys, popular voice and serious drinking. Stan used to let me borrow a lot of amps and stuff as he lived just down the street...but that was all a long time ago in a land far, far away!

  • Look, i'm begging here. I used to have the single of More Than a Dream, which is still one of my all time favourites. If some PC-literate wizard could put it up (i realise t wasn't a video) i'd be happier than x many dogs with x many cocks.

    PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE!

  • I'm definitely NOT pc-literate or a wizard. But I could not resist your plea,so I've added a version of the single. And if the upload works I also have one of the album version - so soon there will be 2 vids of "More than a dream".

  • My God! Thank you thank you thank you and, may i say, thank you!

You are an absoulte top quality turn and a 100% good egg.

Made my day, week, month, year etc, etc..

  • brilliant band. would love to see vid of 'i think i need help' or 'whatever is he like?'

  • Brilliant.......happy daze

  • God i have been looking for this song for sooooooooooooo long . Have it on vinyl but now i can have it on mp3 . You have so made my day

  • I started listening to the fArmERs bOys - when they were still recording on Backs Records and saw them live so many times. This was not their finest moment - but what memories

  • Not sure this was the finest moment - although it's a great video - but they were a brilliant live band, a laugh a minute!

  • Thank you thank you thank you!! I have waited twenty something years to see this video!

The Farmer's Boys were superb live - Baz with his ironing board, Frog, Mark and the heart throb Stan.

Wonderful to see this - I wonder what they're all up to now?

  • they are playing gigs around suffolk but they're are called the great outdoors alough mark and baz and stan play acustic songs down geldiston everyweek

  • They could have been pigger than the Beatles...

There must have been a video for Muck it Out. I wonder if anyone has it?

  • Remember BBC's 'Look East' getting very excited about this. Good tune!

  • Joy joy joy. I am 19 again!

  • Fantastic! Anyone got "Muck It Out"?

  • Out of their 4 "hits", "For You" and "Phew Wow" are the only other videos

  • i thought nobody else in the world knew this song. this rules.

  • Brilliant. Remember watching this on Rockin in the UK.Straight into Superdoon's Supertunes.

  • john peels show (rip) put me onto the farmers boys back in 1982. should'ave been bigger than the smiths. i've still got my joy of cress postcard too! favourite track for me is still more than a dream. thanks for the video.

  • I've got this! Got a free 'Joy of Cress' postcard.

  • Should've been massive

  • And I thought I was the only person who remembered this classic non-hit. A BIG Thank You for posting.
