According to the Daily Fail, the snake is 6ft long, no way is it that long. My Aryn boa is 6ft and she's a lot longer and bigger than Lucy (though some of her width is due to pregnancy)

@Fenhawk11 she said the snake lived in her house! it would NOT constrict the girls neck unless it was deeply hungry, which it's obviously not... though i agree with you the snake has so much power i think is wrong to say that given it's living with the girl and it's not hungry it would do any harm to her. plus, the girl knows how to handle it...
i just don't see an alarming case to say this is a dangerous thing, or her parents were irresponsible, i don't agree with that...
If the BCC slipped a bit, or felt a bit uneasy she could easily have constricted round the girls neck, putting large constrictors around people necks is just bad handling, plus since the girl has the snake around her neck, she doesn't know how to handle her

may I just point out that the animal in question was obviously NOT used for entertainment purposes. This was a little girl with a passion, angry with mankind for being cruel to and neglecting animals. The snake was not at all used to entertain us, just to mak us aware of the fact that all animals should be loved and cared for.
I see thousand of people in the audience standing up and applauding for her poem but did they really listen to her and understand her message.If you really truly care for animals stop eating them, be careful of what you see in your ingredient of food, stop using animal testing product...there is just so many to work on but in the end you will save animals and that includes the most tortured animals chicken, fish ,beef and so on and so forth.

What a fantastic poem, even if it had been performed by an adult! I'm so impressed with this kid! Great values, good speaker, loved it! And that's a good point "romanvanpersie" made, above (in "Top Comments") - "The most unselfish and actually worthwhile 3 minutes that this show has ever produced" - I agree!

Is what you said OK then? Personally I don't mind the occasional F-word, it adds emphasis to what you want to say. It's being abusive to other people that I have a bigger problem with... and definitely that's NOT a great idea in front of children. And you must admit, what you said was pretty gross, doesn't exactly make the world a better place.

My 8 year old cousin doesn't even know what half of those animals are. It would be impossible for her to right that. I like how she shouts, "Whaaa?" what Amanda asks her a question and she says "Fooo-uul." For Fool and Vise versa for cool. Over all LMFAO, not in a good way.

@SwinubFl well how wrong you our - she has been reading since three - has won an accedmic scholoshiip and reads books about animals all the time - reads a long book in a few hours - she wrote it so dont judge what you dont know

@Bahzinhah that bcc could kill her if she wanted to, most herpetologists would cringe watching a seven year old a boa that has so much power, putting large boids around your neck is not a good idea

@Fenhawk11 she said the snake lived in her house! it would NOT constrict the girls neck unless it was deeply hungry, which it's obviously not... though i agree with you the snake has so much power i think is wrong to say that given it's living with the girl and it's not hungry it would do any harm to her. plus, the girl knows how to handle it...
i just don't see an alarming case to say this is a dangerous thing, or her parents were irresponsible, i don't agree with that...

If the BCC slipped a bit, or felt a bit uneasy she could easily have constricted round the girls neck, putting large constrictors around people necks is just bad handling, plus since the girl has the snake around her neck, she doesn't know how to handle her

@Fenhawk11 she knows how to handle it since she never lets the snake wrap around the front of her neck, she redirects it ...that's a sign that she's aware that accidents can happen.
i don't agree it is bad handling if it is your pet, if you trust it, if it is familiar with you and you take some precaution... maybe i'm too liberal, i don't know.

I wouldn't put a whole load of trust into a reptile,
this "act" would have been much better if she had atleast one adult near her there would be less cause for concern among experienced herpetologists

@Bahzinhah Yes keeping it off her throat allows her to breathe, but when they try to hold on to the neck they will quite often restrict bloodflow, remarkably similiar to a sleeper hold. It doesn't even have to be constricting, just trying not to fall. Still a pretty awesome show but as a parent and snake keeper it still makes me nervous.

It doesn't even have to be constricting, just trying not to fall. Still a pretty awesome show but as a parent and snake keeper it still makes me nervous.

@Bahzinhah I'm not worried about her! It's the snake I'm worried about, her mistake wanting to be a zoologist, but knowing nothing about animal welfare! That snake could become easily stressed and I do not believe reptiles should be handled at all, only when necessary. The fact that the python is a sit and wait predator, makes me a bit ansy to the fact its been wrapped around her neck and on display. Lets just say I'm against animals being used for entertainment!

may I just point out that the animal in question was obviously NOT used for entertainment purposes. This was a little girl with a passion, angry with mankind for being cruel to and neglecting animals. The snake was not at all used to entertain us, just to mak us aware of the fact that all animals should be loved and cared for.

I see thousand of people in the audience standing up and applauding for her poem but did they really listen to her and understand her message.If you really truly care for animals stop eating them, be careful of what you see in your ingredient of food, stop using animal testing product...there is just so many to work on but in the end you will save animals and that includes the most tortured animals chicken, fish ,beef and so on and so forth.
