WHEW!!! Give me a minute to catch my breath. This vid just knocked the wind from me...
Normally I prefer studio youtube recordings over live, as live youtube recordings tend to lack 65% of the experience, as opposed to being there in person, and studio recordings are polished. In this case, if this is lacking 65% of the experience, with the 4 minutes and 53 seconds of continuous eargasm I just had, in mono, my ears probably would've caught on fire if I was there in person.
Not to take ANYTHING away from Trombone Shorty, Blue Lou Marini played the Peter Gunn Theme 6 years before Mr. Shorty was born, yet Blue Lou did not get to solo and show off his 50 years of talent.
I am OUT OF MY MIND in LOVE with this! PLEASE stop by the St.Albans, Vermont Performing Arts Center next time you play in Montreal! We will PACK the house for you!!!! I know Trombone Shorty is going to be in St.Johnsbury this month...how about teasing us with a surprise concert on the shores of Lake Champlain!?! Damn, what a fat sound!
Nice to find a version of this on YouTube where the drums and horns don't sound muddled. The other versions sound like they were miced with a tin can and a piece of string.
The drummer, bass player & trumpet player are all members of Imelda May's regular band as is the other guitarist Darrel Higham , who is also lucky enough to be Imelda's husband !
Brutal! Fantastic! Just Great, Great!

The drummer kind of reminds me of curly of The Three Stooges.
Best TV show theme song ever; the show itself has been pretty much forgotten, but the song lives on.
