I'm wondering about the steamer as well. I've been looking for one that has an attachment like that for the tip, and I can't seem to find one anywhere.
what kind of steamer do you use and where did you get it? all the ones im finding are hella expensive and i dont like using my straightener to seal my dreads :(
Then you're probably not doing it right, I do that too and it's really quick for me. You know you only need to steam it for like 5-10 seconds right? Atleast if you got a decent iron. With a normal length dread and a normal width iron you should be able to do the whole dread in 3 'steams'
You can pick up a cheap steamer off of ebay , that's where I got mine from a while back. Con is it is shaped like a duck! Great thing though. You can also seal dreads with boiling water or a 2000w hairdryer guys!I think the steamer being used here is a clothes steamer..
Hello, thank you for making the video it was ever so helpful! I was wondering in you could use an iron that has a steam setting rather than a steamer or boiling water? Also how does one just do two different colors for the ends of the dreads instead of the whole thing being swirled? Sorry for all the questions and thank chu again.
you know the hair that is in the black colour? do you backcomb that hair too? Because i have had problem with doing that kind of dreads, the hair that i steam with two colours easily gets up and gets messu QUICKLY! Do you have any tip? I use a hairdryer to make my, is a steamer better?
i back comb both colors before steaming. back comb them seperatly. i find the steam minipulates 100% Kane kolan fibers better than plain dry heat. Some people even use boiling water.
okey thank you i was very confused at start. Yes i tried with boling water didnt work so good for me dough xD but i have only done two hair sets so will se i get better for everytime i mean :D with new teqchines
Hello, I wanted to know what you used for the head of your steamer? Did it come with the steamer or can you buy one like yours, I have a pointed end can you buy one to fit it?
i dont know much venders over there..but i am shur there are some.. have u tried google? There are lots of gurls in hair forums that live there that gotta be getting there synth from near by.. HEAVENLY HAIR FORUM.. other wise if you wanna order from the states.. dr. locs seems to all the stuff i needed.
hey this is really co0l but im sure i wont b able to find a steamer like that but umm u think that a hot iron can do the trick? i mean im not planing on actually pressing the hot iron on it but like mine has steam in it u think that would help?
u can pick up these steamers on ebay or online from an internet store.. there are some on ebay just now for between £5 and £15 thats about 10 dollars...
i have a video and shows a few methods. i use boiling water at first but it didnt like it! i took a tub of warm water or room temp then dip the rag into it and rug the rag out but not all the way then place it over the dread and put my flat iron over it to steam it. the only thing is the rag drys out quick so you gotta redip. its a smilpe way. i do hair so i got flatiorns laying around everywhere. try it it works great!
I'm making dreads and I've used two different steamers but they didn't seem to work that great. The one you are using in this video, do you know how many watts it is??
Thank you for posting your vids on this. I was wondering , since I don't know too much...does Kanekalon ever bleed when steamed? Also do you just seam your ends or do you do anything else in conjunction to steaming them. Thanks again =^_^=
Thanks for posting this, it was very helpful for me as I have never made a pair of synthetic dreads yet. Now I atleast know where to start! Oh and by the way are you a hair dresser? [I could see some guy getting his hair cut in the mirror] Damn I didn't mean for this comment to be so long but where do you suggest to getting good quality synthetic hair from to use in making falls?
I am not shur where you are at.. but you can order hair thu I KICK SHINS~~ i will send you a pm with the address because it wont let me post it on here
it is just an attachment.. it is the same fabric as a wash cloth.. and it seems to dispense the steam at a better flow then the straight shooting hose kind. I like the cloth attachment as well because it helps smooth down the hair.
It is a EUROPRO steamer. it is the shark model..but now i have seen that they carry a diffrent version of the shark that is in the video.. but what ever..it is a steamer.. and for medium width and long length dreads 20 inches... i usually go thru about 3 packs and make 30-40 dreads.. and this is the tripple packs that i buy at a local mart.. (3 bundles of 100% kane kolan hair in one pack)
as im like no professional at all and with that i dont want to spend like a lot of money to make me a pair of falls once a year or something: do you know any way i don't have to get me a steamer.
What kind of steamer/attachement is that? Does the cloth come on it, I looked at a Euro Pro on ebay, but wasn't sure if it had the same attachment. Thanks!
I know what your saying .. it is a euro pro.. shark steamer.. i dont think all of the ebay ones show the attachments there for i dont know that they come with them.. and i have a feeling the company has discontinued that model.. i bought a newer euro pro shark..it has a hose attachemnt..I am not shur if i like it as much as the one used in the video. it is just like terry cloth..

Does Backcombing work with a normal comb?
Plus, I wonder if I could seal these with a steam iron and a damp cloth......

Yes, I'm currently doing that but it takes forever.

I don't understand how you can keep them together or how you get the 2 colours in :s
Do you just twist them together, that's it?

M3tall1calover 4 years ago
you can use the steam that comes from a tea kettle as well/ or some people use boiling water. ( BE CAREFUL)
dezertpyrot1122 4 years ago
I've also seen people use a damp cloth and a flat iron,
they placed the cloth over the dread fall, then use the flat iron over it and it will steam it.
Sorry im bad at explaining :P
