  • Wow!! I heve just the vaguest memories of watching that show as a kid. Thanks.

  • i think its funny how everybody thinks the legionnaires are poets and romances. Just proves that none of you know what the fuck your on about.

  • have you been ? i doubt it. which means you know fuck all. im an ancien and a fukn poet...

  • @deadjailorrocknroll Where'd you get you POTTY MOUTH KID??? You eat with that mouth too???

  • @CJurasin yeah, i do as a matter of fact... i got the potty mouth form your mum who told me to fuck off cos i was tooo old for her.

  • @deadjailorrocknroll No, you got it because you are a PUNK KID LOUD MOUTH who's brain is so small it can't handle anthing else.....so you resort to what little vocabulary you have. Any fool can curse and MOST of them do!!!

  • @CJurasin well, i wouldnt join the legion then... PLENTY of swearing there. you dickhead.

  • @deadjailorrocknroll WHO wants to join the "legion" anyway??? And why is it that someone as old as you (32) talks like a 16 year old??? Maybe you ought to THINK about GROWING UP??? Or are you TIRED of hearing that over and overa gain too?? Don't worry....it will happen eventually.....

  • @CJurasin FUCK OFF.

  • @deadjailorrocknroll Wow.......THAT was original and I KNEW it was coming based on your LIMITED intelligence and vocabulary. Like I said....you'll grow up eventually!

"NEVER argue with an idiot......he'll drag you down to HIS level and then beat you with his expertise!! Ha ha ha And it looks like you have ALOT of experience.....

  • @CJurasin and your a fukn keyboard hero.

  • @deadjailorrocknroll Wow.........MORE words of wisdom from a LOSER....(or is that an oxymoron)?

  • @ConnorFerguson08 just like CJurasin

  • Looks like I wasn't the only kid who wanted to join the legion :)

  • Interesting: I had to visit a US website to discover a movie about the French Foreign Legion! Never heard it mention by the Legion officers I know. We never had it on French TV I doubt there was any French version. At that time, the French preferred to watch John Wayne westerns!

  • I used to put a saucepan on my head and pretend it was a kepi.

  • ... just demonstrating that, with some imagination, kids can enter wonderland without wasting money on electronic junk. Legionnaires are poets too... of sorts.

  • One of the show's producers was Harry Saltzman - who later co-produced the early James Bond films.

  • I was five or six when this show was on. My friends and I would put a white handerchief under out baseball caps. We'd put our pants into our socks. That was our Legionnaire costume.

  • If only it was that easy

  • Nostalgie! wow i loved that show, learned Le Boudin and been singing while hiking since, good pace for flat stretches. Marche ou Creve' Demerde-toi, Cafard.

  • Buster unlike today's hero's, got nothing from replay's of his 30's serials on TV: Flash Gordon, Trip to Mars, Conquers the Universe, Red Barry, & Buck Rogers, but he got good EXPOSURE to a new generation earning him a couple local TV shows NE US, hosting his own dozens of cowboy movies, and this gem, an original, shot with son Cuffy. In his late 40's, cigerettes took a toll--look at Tom Cruise same age today, but maturity fit well, and he'd stayed in shape.

Gosh I miss those innocent days.

  • SCORE! I grew up watching Captain Gallant of the Foreign Legion (a/k/a Foreign Legionnaire), and so distinctly remember its key sponsors - Heinz and Chunky, the latter featuring Fuzzy Knight in the commercials.

If you have a clip of those Chunky commercials with Mr. Knight, please post them.

    I offer you my GRATITUDE.

(P.S. -- I remember having somewhat of a crush on Cullen 'Cuffy' Crabbe)

  • I seem to remember seeing elsewhere on YouTube, one of those "brought to you by..." segments of this program from its NBC airing; the announcer of those bumpers was Vic Roby.

  • SCORE! I distinctly remember the voice of Vic Roby.

(Don't even THINK about figuring out my age, LOL).

  • Age is one thing I never ask about.

But about Mr. Roby - I did notice that another NBC New York announcer, Jerry Damon, sounded almost similar to him. I only got set straight watching a 1974 episode of "New York Illustrated" (a long-running WNBC-TV public affairs documentary series) that Vic narrated about the crime of arson.

  • Wow! I used to LOVE this show! THANKS!!

  • William N. Robson also had a distinguished career as a producer/director on radio from the mid-'30s through the late '50s. Later, "CAPTAIN GALLANT" was syndicated as "FOREIGN LEGIONNAIRE".

  • Très cool! I remember this show too. Great theme music.

    A nous la Légion!

  • Man,I remember this show
