He's not following the books AT ALL. ;-) He's just taken the names of the characters, the places and some of the secondary characters and is messing around with them. I'm not a books purist, I love what he did with Eric's Maker and I love Jessica, but seriously, sometimes I wonder what I'm seeing. As I said, fan fiction. But well, I know he's on Team Bill and the books are more Team Eric, so...

In book 8, the vampires of Nevada takeover the states of Louisiana and Arkansas. They offered to keep Eric as a Sheriff because he is a good sheriff. Eric gets his memories back. Sookie breaks up with Quinn because he stop contacting her and he helped (against his will) the vampires from Nevada.

In book 9, Eric tricks Sookie to wed him to protect her from the new King. Sookie meets her great granddad. Quinn visits Sookie and fights with Bill, Sookie gets injured. Eric and Sookie consummate their marriage. Sookie is kidnapped by her GGD's enemies and is saved by her GGD and Bill. There is a fight in the hospital. Bill is very sick. Clency dies during the fight. Sookie's GGD goes back to the world of fairies.

Ok I'm not impressed with how Eric is being made to look worse than the books and Bill is being made to look better than he is in the books. In the books Bill NEVER proposes to Sookie--in fact she makes bitter comments about that all throughout the series. And....Eric had nothing to do with Bill's abduction in book 3 it was all Lorena, not the Queen and not Eric. And it's time for more screen time for Eric--I mean really....we were ripped off.
