Not sure if it will hold true for too much longer. The new F10 BMW M5 is coming in a few monthes, and the Audi RS6 less than a year after that. We'll see how much longer the CTS-V keeps its crown.
@4MATICbenz Look up the next gen CTS line it gets a revamped more refined and lighter chassis.
And the V version is slated to get the new Dual clutch tranny from the upcoming C7 along with a new version of the new ls engine GM is developing.
So if a heavy CTSV with a traditional transmission can beat the Germans imagine the next generation which will be lighter with a more advanced transmission.
@Greendude33 ,hmmm good point. Wasnt sure about when they were updatig the CTS-V and what improvements they had in store. Maybe CTS-V will keep its crown after all. Competition between the high-performance sedan class is getting very intense.
only car i have ever liked by caddy.....bought time they stopped making the ultimate turds....id still choose a vette though....the sex appeal is just far too much for my peter to say no too XD!!
That is the biggest line of bullshit about MB cars I ever heard. I'm a former Mercedes Benz tech and my bay was never empty. I did warranty repairs on 5-7 cars a day. They are far from reliable and JD Power supports my claim. They are ranked below average while Cadillac, Buick, Lincoln & Mercury are near the top. We won't even discuss maintenance costs or brake service. On AMG cars, a brake job would bankrupt most people in this post.
@Diddlen ya right benz has 4yr/50k warranty new vs cadillac 5 yr/100k warranty. clearly stating how a mercedez benz WILL fall apart before any cadillac.
Plus this car " EASILY out-classes it's M and AMG rivals "....EASILY HAHAHAHAHAA Fuck Europe ain't SHIT !!
@UFCextra MB doesn't need a 5 year warranty. Owned several MB's (no problems) and more GM products. GM's fall apart at exactly 18 months. Better get the extended warranty.
@Diddlen the word " Warranty" means : They Guarentee your car WILL NOT break at all for 5 yrs/100K miles. Mercedes Warranty's are 4 yr/50K Miles, Hence after 50k miles- they start to break overall unlike cadillac starts to break at 100K miles . My 90's Cadillac is at 310,000 miles on it . no problems. Int./Ext, in Excellent condition
@UFCextra Last time I checked the warranty means the company WILL fix it when it breaks, not that the car WILL NOT break during that time period. My friend has an '04 CTS and it was in the shop with warranty work A LOT. I'm still skeptical when it comes to American cars. They were junk for a very long time until recently.
@Diddlen Diddien...you have no clue of what you're talking about...I've had new GM cars since 1966 and not one of them have ever given me a single major problem. Unlike the new BMW I bought that was in the shop probably ten times in the first year with major problems. Oh, and an oil change cost $350. The 70,000 Mercedes service cost me over $1800.
@Michael6609 the cadillac delivers max. torque of 551 lb-ft at 3800 rpm, the bmw "only" 383 lb-ft at 6100 rpm. that's the charger for. I am from germany but i would prefer the cadillac.
i do not like american cars..but the cts-v...would be nice...great improvements..interior and exterior ..looks good.. (fast and handles well...) just a bit big...they need to have a smaller model..to compete with the smaller 3 series..
GM, yes, Caddy, no. Caddy should not come in a small car like the 3 series. Defeats the purpose of the luxury part. But GM needs to have something to compete with the 3 series from BMW and the A4 from Audi.
Just don't call it a Cadillac. Hahahaha They're meant to be bigger and roomier, and not really meant to handle like this one does. LOL
Well the 3 series is larger inside then the previous CTS-V in general the outside is big but the interior space is smaller then the 3 series.. would like to see a smaller package with better use of interior space.
My friends CTS-V previous to this one was cramped..in front and rear. Example. of a smallish car with big interior was the old SAAB 95...classed as a larger car but small on the outside...short overhangs front and rear is best
Cadillac CTS-V placed FOURTH in the latest CAR magazine comparo. This is with the same driver. A fair comparison, unlike the BS from Government Motors.
CTS-V lost and placed 4th in the latest CAR magazine comparo.
Only one of the cars in that list is actually in the CTS-V's class and it still retails for FAR FAR more money. An EVO? Really?
Also, using one euro-biased magazine as a source is pretty lame. There have been other reviews that show the CTS-V to be faster than both the E63 and M5 on the track.
So what, you talking like the caddys not a good car so what it lost, the benz placed 1st in the lastest car and driver issue which is an american magazine, take that governement motors bullshit somewhere else, how about you post video of whatever pos u have that can beat this car since you know so much, for 65k u cant go wrong with this car nobody else seems to have an issue with it, besides thats only one track lets see some other tracks times
@youlance29 If i had to live with just one car for the rest of my life it would have to be a CTS-V. It goes, it stops, it's comfortable and it's a man's car!!! Damn, why am I not rich instead of so handsome!!! lol.
@buttnut1080 hell no . why would I look at poorly built european luxury cars when this car " easily out-classes both it's M and AMG rivals " ? From the interior to the exterior of this cts - hands down it is far better quality and performance than any european luxury car maker.
@Lantho650 That merc is built better and has better performance. You think that's not true cuz the motor week guy said that then you're wrong; he wasn't even talking about the S65. Not only that but he was talking about the old E63 and M5; check out the new E63 and wait for the upcoming M5; both are of much higher quality and performance than the CTS-V
I'm waiting for prices to come down on the used ones. The lowest I've seen is $48K and that's still more than I want to pay or carry in loan debt. I drove the auto and can honestly say that it's faster than the old 2000 Viper I had and feels like the Z06 my cousin owns. Excellent car!
That black trim on the dash is ugly. I still like the E63 AMG because its a naturally aspirated big engine. They sound incredible. There isn't much wrong with a CTS-V, I'm just not a fan of turbos or superchargers.
The new Bugatti saloon car with the W16 engine from the Veyron. Yes, Bugatti was founded in part of Germany back in the day; a territory now owned by France.
I've driven this car and I was beyond impressed. I drove the 6 speed manual and I was shocked at how great the shift feel was and how effortless the clutch action was. I don't have the highest expectations from GM manual transmissions but this was better than anything I've ever driven. It felt as good as my e92 M3 and had shorter throws. I still think I'd rather wait for the coupe though.
Well GM don't realy make there transmissions on most of there cars (just like most other automakers*). They are a part in the creation process of it, but the company that developed the manual transmission for the CTS-V is Tremek. I don't know about the auto trans, but it might be from Tremek too.
4.2 seconds to sixty is more than a second faster than the 04?...Bullshit, my 05 tested 4.7 to sixty. So, either they don't know how to drive a stick or they're just blowing smoke to make this car sound more impressive. It is very impressive no matter what your comparing it to.
I've heard the same...the video said it did it in 4.2 which was a full second faster. Don't think so. Now the 3.9 is get very close to a full second faster. Might have to invest in one in a year or two
@Cadillac18Nate ive watched a lot of tests and have yet to see a 3.9 0-60. Most are 4.1-4.2. I bet i can do it in very ideal conditions. 3.9 is just a good number for commercials though, lol.
I have a feeling these won't be that much cheaper in 4 years. They will be the last of the great Cadillacs and with Obama Motors calling the shots, newer versions will be closer to Smart cars.
4 years huh grannyBangproduction. I heard, as part of GMs agreement on their funding, they are going to remove the V series, if that is true the CTS-V will become a collectors & really hard to get hold off, good luck
seriously, this might as wel be a 1985 video review. someone should buy motorweek and bring in some modern reviews with more modern camera angels and video editing.
in fact they have reviews from the 80s and 90s and they look about 95% simmilar, even the 70s follow the same guidlines
i love this show just as much as top gear and it really has a cult following
this show doesn't have the camera angles or video editing because it doesn't want them, they just want to present the info and let the consumers decide rather than the presenter decide for them
for ex. watch the PBS news then watch a cable outlet
It's a car review, not a Jerry Bruckheimer movie. They give you the car's vital stats and they show it from a bunch of different angles. What more do you want?
This is pure entertainment. I love how you post on Beausifman, ROdikulus, Meli083 and ; Russianconer (Same Person; Numerous accounts). Everyone here is owning you pretty hard buddy. This is the result of you posting bias; which has been smashed numerous times by everyone else here. Keep it up this is pure entertainment... or you can save face and provide sources to your ridiculous claims ;). By the way the ZR1 is a MUCH better performer than the CTSv anyday. You need professional help. ;)
Cadilliac's are cars that will last you a long time. The CTS-V is an excellent performing car. With a 40GB Hard Drive, Leather seats and Navigational system, the CTS-V is a car you should consider checking out when looking for a $60,000 luxury car. It is about $20,000 less than its competitors.
The stock 2009 CTS-V has 556hp. The LS9 in the ZR-1 is rated at 630hp. The CTS-V's doesn't have a dry sump oiling system and it's compression ratio is a little lower.
umm, many people forget GM has a racing program which why there's beating the Germans now and let not forget the magnetic ride control is also used in the Ferrari 599 GTB saying American cars are not on par with the German is BS!
Plus the interior on the CTS-V is WAY better than the Dodge, not to mention in almost every other department....no comparison. The Challenger SRT-8 is an un-refined brute, the CTS-V is a Mega brute with class / refinement, and a "brain".
I dont see why the Dodge Challenger SRT-8 is so popular because in 2010 for a similar price you can have a Camero SS & that looks better, will be newer, & has the Transformrs image
more like 4100 lbs. but it does take power to move weight. still... 12.3-12.5 (12.7 is a slow time)with a top end around 190 plus( 175 with auto). pretty danged good.
well mybe if you new your facts the c5 zo6 weighs around 3200lbs the cts-v is around 3900lbs so its not going to be as fast even though GM says 3.9 to 60
it's SAE certified .. it's not inflated at all. like larry said, the C5 Z06 weighs 700 lbs less. This car is quick because of innovative technology and power.
yeh, its got 2 more doors & 3 more seats, not to mention the extra luxry & comfort, as well as, the cut price tag. It still is esentially a 4 door Corvette
I had a Chevy lumina with 167,000 on it when i got rid of it, and it was still running Just fine, The Chrysler corporation's the one you have to worry about longevity with. Everyone I've known with a Neon or Intrepid has regretted it. I have a friend with a 06 Hemi Ram 1500, only has 30,000 miles on it and he has already had to fix crap on it, and he babies it.

lower grille looks terrible! looks like some chromed chicken wire. I wonder by saving 20K and not getting the AMG or M5 if you can change the front bumper to something that actually looks classy or aggressively sophisticated?
I call this car the pimp racecar. Only joking! Pimps could benefit from this car though when they need to get their hoes to the track quickly before they go to the racetrack. LOL

in fact they have reviews from the 80s and 90s and they look about 95% simmilar, even the 70s follow the same guidlines
i love this show just as much as top gear and it really has a cult following
this show doesn't have the camera angles or video editing because it doesn't want them, they just want to present the info and let the consumers decide rather than the presenter decide for them
for ex. watch the PBS news then watch a cable outlet
SorthNarolina 2 years ago

You need professional help. ;)

RODikulus says, "The CTSv performs better and is much better than the 'cheap' ZR1."
How so? They are two totally different cars. The CTSv's engine comes from the ZR1 as well. Your obsession over the CTSv is pretty sad.
The ZR1 posts better track times and straight line times than the CTSv anyday.
N'ring Times
ZR1 : 7:29
CTSv : 7:59
Try again kid.

The CTSv is an amazing car. I'm glad GM finally did something about the CTSv line and made it more competitive. 7:59 N'ring time is killer as well.
However we cannot compare this car to an M5 designed and engineered in 2004+. Even the current 2009 M5 is based off the 2004 platform.
2004-2008 CTSv competes with the 2004+ M5. The M5 dominated that generation.
The true and fair competition will come with the next M5 of the current CTSv generation. It will be fun to watch (AMG and Audi too!). ;)
djinnbladex 2 years ago
The m5 had a extra 112 hp over the cts-v so yeah it dominated it give the v 512 like the M and it would be over.
larryadam2 2 years ago
The stock 2009 CTSv has 620 HP.
The stock 2004+ model M5 has 507 HP.
djinnbladex 2 years ago
The stock 2009 CTS-V has 556hp. The LS9 in the ZR-1 is rated at 630hp. The CTS-V's doesn't have a dry sump oiling system and it's compression ratio is a little lower.
Zxzm 2 years ago
The 09 CTS-V has 556 HP.

You were already OWNED byabout 5 people here already, but I figured I chime in.

umm, many people forget GM has a racing program which why there's beating the Germans now and let not forget the magnetic ride control is also used in the Ferrari 599 GTB saying American cars are not on par with the German is BS!

why did they change the new grill to the retro mesh grill? just awful!
RONALDB62 2 years ago
It's a signature V characteristic. plus it gives the car a smaller, more aggressive stance. i think it's great.
Precocious030 2 years ago
Yeh i think the mesh grille is great too. The Bentley Conti uses it too, & that looks good

Dodge Challenger SRT-8 or Cadillac CTS-V I think im going with the CTS-V now
nytquil1 2 years ago 4
Plus the interior on the CTS-V is WAY better than the Dodge, not to mention in almost every other department....no comparison. The Challenger SRT-8 is an un-refined brute, the CTS-V is a Mega brute with class / refinement, and a "brain".
TheeGymWarrior 2 years ago 4
I dont see why the Dodge Challenger SRT-8 is so popular because in 2010 for a similar price you can have a Camero SS & that looks better, will be newer, & has the Transformrs image

Inbelieavable they put 550hp in 59k Sedans, what crazy times we live in

more like 4100 lbs. but it does take power to move weight. still... 12.3-12.5 (12.7 is a slow time)with a top end around 190 plus( 175 with auto). pretty danged good.
nimlil 2 years ago
uh .. CTS-V weighs 3900 lbs.
Precocious030 2 years ago
well mybe if you new your facts the c5 zo6 weighs around 3200lbs the cts-v is around 3900lbs so its not going to be as fast even though GM says 3.9 to 60
larryadam2 2 years ago
the c5 zo6 corvette had 405 hp and did 0-60 in 4 flat. this has 151 more hp and takes 4.2? something tells me the 556 is a little inflated.
dilliphant3 2 years ago
You can't be that retarded now , can you? Ever heard of power to weight? Go look it up and get back to me.
UberVette 2 years ago
it's SAE certified .. it's not inflated at all. like larry said, the C5 Z06 weighs 700 lbs less.

I wonder by saving 20K and not getting the AMG or M5 if you can change the front bumper to something that actually looks classy or aggressively sophisticated?

yea im going to shut you up with this my 1990 Cadillac Seville has 159,000 miles runs just fine its my only car ride it daily

I call this car the pimp racecar. Only joking! Pimps could benefit from this car though when they need to get their hoes to the track quickly before they go to the racetrack. LOL
