The southern gulf which experienced the poor ice conditions is the smallest gathering point for the Northeast Atlantic harp seal herd. In 2007 the Northern Gulf and the largest congregating area for Harps, the Front, experienced the heaviest ice conditions since 20 years. The poor ice in the southern gulf has been proven to be cyclical. Many harp cows went to land to birth their pups and there was not mass drowning as HSUS claims.

It's kind of ironic...a commercial by peta against fur coats wasn't allowed on TV because it showed a guy clubbing a woman than stealing her fur coat...yet the clubbing of these seal for their coats is allowed? Hmm...can you say POINTLESS? There's no need for fur anymore. We're past the days of the cavemen. We're past the days of crappy shelter and hunting to survive. This is the best footage of ice loss. I certainly hope that this year's devastation is a blessing in disguise, as the Canadian government will have more trouble defending this horrific business as not causing ecological harm. It obviously is not helping. It absolutely is not necessary to their economy.

I think if you care to check you'll see that Canada has several programs in place to help curb Global warming.I am involved in one of them directely. Sales of fat-ass SUV's are much lower here than in the US and cars in general tend to be compact/less carbo fotprint. Bush....?, he thinks ice comes from the fridge. Your missing the big picture. Seals will disappear without ice, so will WE. What exactely does the hsus do with the millions they take in. Don't you wonder? The seal herd is A-OK
