Anyone know where Susan Lynch, Danny Klawon, Bobbie Kaminski, Doug Hall and/or David Allen Thomas are? I owe them all an apology of one sort or another. Wally, too, but he already knows that. All of 'em changed my life for the better. Thx.
There were musician changes at a point, but this original group is THEE best. The MODS from northeast Ohio, which included Jim Bonfanti, Wally Bryson and Dave Smalley (and others), started it all. The MODS were the precursor to The Choir, that lead into The Raspberries. Jim, Wally and Dave of the MODS were the foundation of The Raspberries. The eastside cities of Cleveland, which are Euclid and Mentor, produced this group. That's why Clevealnd is the Rock and Roll Capitol.
Raspberries were a tremendously talented band, with musical genius Eric Carmen crafting songs that sound as good today as they did in the 70's. They were a big influence on many musicians that followed them.
The Raspberries ROCK! You guys changed my life forever. The first 45 I ever owned was "Go All The Way". I experienced so many great memories listening to your music! Please come to DC. Eric you have one the best voices of all times. You have the ability to deliver such raw and pure emotion in your lyrics and in your voice like no one else can. I am in awe of you guys!
I play in a classic rock cover band and most of us are over 50 except our guitarist. You really appreciate a band like The Raspberries and particularly Eric Carmen for being able to perform at this level. I've loved these guys music from way back in the 70's and yes, they are horribly underrated.
Fuccccccck! yeah! This is awesome. This is the concert I have to see! Love these guys. Great songs, musicians and just cool as hell! Wish they'd get a Hit Record again!
This band can hold it's own amongst the greatest rock bands of all time. Sadly, they are vastly underrated. I saw them at Carnegie Hall with the Stories as their opening act and will never forget that night. Their musicianship is almost unparalleled, their harmonies; simply beautiful. They influenced many bands that followed and I wish they would make a new album.
It's so unbelievable how young Eric sounds! He sounds like he's back in the early '70's. The Raspberries were so close to being a super group. Too bad they didn't have more hits than what they had.
The clip from the Mike Douglas Show is a special treat to those of us who grew up watching the show and the icing on top is watching the Raspberries on it.
Eric Carmen could pen andrecord one or two more singles, sans nutty pruders (only the sensible ones), and send my heart flying in a heartbeat. But, warning: he could produce a fever in the younger women and heart attack in people my age.
His voice is still incredible! Been practicing alot>
I just saw The Rasberries on The Mike Douglas Show and I wondered if they were still together or alive and well for that matter? A couple of more You Tube clicks later and this great video appeared. Its really cool to see these guys sounding so F-ing good! Eric's voice sounds like he preserved it in lemon juice and honey for the last 30 years. NO LIE!!! Good job all around. "Go All The Way" is one of the greatest rock songs ever written.
I don't recall that he chewed gum all that much when I was around pretty much daily in '76 and '77, but he sure jaws rhe stuff now. What a guitarist. He taught me =tons=.
Yeah. They sound great. But Eric silly in that little vest and Wally's chewing like a Holstein throughout the show. But it's about the music and they've still got it.
I was at this show at the House of Blues in Hollywood. It was an awesome concert! Paul Stanley from KISS was near the front as was Pete Ham's (Badfinger) daughter who had traveled all the way from England to see The Raspberries. All the songs were great including their cover of "Needles & Pins" by the Searchers and The Beatles "Ticket to Ride". The stand out song for me was "I Can Remember", a hidden gem from an early Raspberries LP.
Takes me back to the Cyrus Erie, Chesterland Hullabaloo, Agora, etc, and makes me feel young again! I'm from Cleveland (Mayfield High class of '70) and they were my favorite local band. It was easy to see way back then that they had a lot of talent.
Wally Bryson was an inspiration to me to keep practicing.
No dissent here. I know it's Eric & the Boys, but they did hire some additional sidemen to flesh out the sound (which works wonderfully). Absolutely agree w/you re Wally Bryson. His chording and fills are remarkable!
Extra lady singer for the high harmonies, extra guitar player and keyboard player (who both sing as well) to round the sound off. No, this definitely not The Raspberries of the 70's anymore..............
They always puts me in my happy place! :)
