In regards to Psalm 22, in support of each reading there are both MSS. The Polyglots of Potken, Antwerp, Paris, and London, have caari in the text, and caaru is referred to in the margin. This is the case with the most correct Hebrew Bibles. And besides, even if the correct translation is indeed caari like lions they maul my hands and feet, the passage would still apply indubitably to Christ's crucifixion. Don't be fooled.

While this is more vague and would not be a particularly strong proof, I still personally feel that this lament of David does foreshadow Jesus. The Romans were like dogs that were at Jesus' hands and feet, quite literally. I'd say don't assume the passage is not inspired.

Its true this reference in Zechariah gives a description of the many Jews coming as the Messiah that were being killed by the people of the nail in colaboration with the corrupt priesthood at the time. As a challenge to you I would love to see a video on how you would debunk the Turin Shroud. I have seen attempts to duplicate it with no success. I have seen people attribute it to everyone from Leonardo Da Vinci to the Order of the Temple of Jerusalem. I am completely baffled by that artifact.
@Symbolc0729 I'm not in a position to do the work one would need to do to confirm whether the Shroud of Turin is or isn't Jesus' burial cloth. However, as I recall, each time it's been subjected to scientific testing, the results have indicated that it dates to the Middle Ages. In any case, even if it were Jesus' burial cloth, it's not clear that this would prove anything more about Jesus than that after he was executed he was buried with a shroud wrapped around his body.
I respect that. Its been dated from 1290-1360. There are drawings of it that predate that. Interestingly in that time frame 1290-1360 was around the time that it had been caught in a fire. The burn makes from the fire are still there. The dated cloth could have been from the time it was repaired. At the time when the study was done the Vatican did not own the artifact. It is believed that was done to devalue it so they can get it form the Savoys. This happened less then 10 years after.

Good video man... There are many things going against Psalm 22 besides what Prof just mentioned (for all you Apologists). The fact that he had his hands pierced was really a common punishment at that time period, with cruxifictions being the most popular form of roman execution. This with the fact that historical documents show that there were many, many, people claiming to be "prophets", the reference doesn't do anything to support Jesus, because it woud support the others as well. If apologists read verses 4 and 22-23 of Psalm 22, they'll know it isn't a Messianic prophecy at all. Verse 4 mentions "Our ancestors trusted you; they trusted you, and you saved them", why would Jesus say our ancestors trusted you? Verses 22-23 states "Then I will my brothers and SISTERS about you; I will praise you in the public meeting. Praise the Lord, all you respect him. All you descendants of Jacob, honor him; fear him, all you Israelites". Why would Christ mention Israelites?
@HybridD91 Cont. One could say sisters(NCV, NLT) is being used as a metaphor but for what reason would Christ mention the Israelites? According to the New Testament, they rejected him. What public meeting would Christ praise him? This doesn't sound like a prophecy, more so like praise instead.

@Moussyed First, even if I were inclined to look at every single purported messianic prophecy that Christians claim to have been fulfilled by Jesus--and I'm not so inclined--it's hard to imagine having the time to do videos to cover them all. Therefore, and second, as with most things, one must take a representative sample of the purported prophecies--using the ones Christians regard as critical and to which they refer most often--and address those. In short, it's a significant dent.

I keep thinking about how "My servant will come wisely..to whom have these things been revealed...he came unnoticed rejected...no one will recognize him.. I am sure that there are some that misuse or misunderstand something in old testament scripture. I am only familiar with the use of "pierced" in Isaiah. My JPS Tanakh also uses "pierce" when it counts. If someone says there are 100 scriptures and another says there are 300. shouldn't you focus on the ones that the majority hold as good examples? If you read a ton of Christian apology, you will certainly find enough material for part 8,9, and 10 of your videos.

First, simply because a few prominent people misinterpret or misuse certain scripture does not mean that the entirety of a religion is false. I know that is not your sole purpose for this video, Prof, but I would simply like to point that out.
As for the number of times Jesus is prophesied as being the Messiah, there
are quite a few reasons as to their variation in number. Much like any great literary work, the Bible has many interpretations and, sometimes, people are wrong. This is also caused (as you somewhat pointed out) by differences in translations and also by differences in culture.
Finally, as for your "mauled/pierced" passage, it is rather biased to compare modern day Christian translations to that of a Jewish translation. Because the Jews share the same opinion that you do about Jesus, would it
be so unlikely that they might have translated their own scripture so as to support their own beliefs?
Now, as I am only a high school student, I cannot offer much hard evidence in rebuttal as I have not had as much time as I would like to research such things. It hits me that so many are willing to "lie for Jesus", which seems to be in stark contrast in what they claim Jesus is teaching us. I wonder if it's just a white little lie for them or a necessity to follow for instance the parable of the five talents. (Who wants to be thrown out of the kingdom?)
If Christianity results in these kind of half-lies and creationism - why is anyone to take their religion serious? I'm most troubled!

That "like a lion" business is an interesting insight into the use of language. It's obvious that the ancient writers are using the phrase in much the same way as we have come to use the word "badger" -- it's a noun that refers to an animal that we have adapted as a verb -- "to badger someone." In the same way, they've taken the word "lion" and turned it into a verb -- "to lion someone" --meaning to tear or savage them.

Regarding the prophecies, i have studied them for many years and believe they are accurate. They revealed through the words of prophets. Certain prophecies like those founf in the psalms can be applied to david or other things but are also meant to be prophetical in nature aswell as suggested by jesus himself.

In regards to Psalm 22, in support of each reading there are both MSS. The Polyglots of Potken, Antwerp, Paris, and London, have caari in the text, and caaru is referred to in the margin. This is the case with the most correct Hebrew Bibles. And besides, even if the correct translation is indeed caari like lions they maul my hands and feet, the passage would still apply indubitably to Christ's crucifixion. Don't be fooled.

While this is more vague and would not be a particularly strong proof, I still personally feel that this lament of David does foreshadow Jesus. The Romans were like dogs that were at Jesus' hands and feet, quite literally. I'd say don't assume the passage is not inspired.

Then ProfMTH claims that all the Gospel writers took a pass on Psalm 22:16, but misses a larger point. Jesus Himself does not pass on Psalm 22, quoting the first verse of it.
When Jesus becomes sin on the cross and the Father turns His back on Him, Jesus makes the plea, but the rest of the Psalm exalts and boasts of God.
The descriptions of the clothes divided, heart melted to wax, bones out of joint seems quite suggestive.

Read the messianic prophecies such as Daniel 9:24-27 and Psalm 22. The Bible makes it definitely and absolutely clear in 1 John 2:22 who every says that Yeshua (JESUS) is or was not the Messiah is a liar and therefore is an Anti-Christ and reject both God the Father and God the Son.

Its true this reference in Zechariah gives a description of the many Jews coming as the Messiah that were being killed by the people of the nail in colaboration with the corrupt priesthood at the time. In fact the annointed one(the Messiah) that was prophesised in Daniel 9:26 that was CUT OFF, was infact the priesthood. The term CUT OFF is never used in the Bible to describe anyone righteous. As a challenge to you I would love to see a video on how you would debunk the Turin Shroud. I have seen attempts to duplicate it with no success. I have seen people attribute it to everyone from Leonardo Da Vinci to the Order of the Temple of Jerusalem. I am completely baffled by that artifact.

@Symbolc0729 I'm not in a position to do the work one would need to do to confirm whether the Shroud of Turin is or isn't Jesus' burial cloth. However, as I recall, each time it's been subjected to scientific testing, the results have indicated that it dates to the Middle Ages. In any case, even if it were Jesus' burial cloth, it's not clear that this would prove anything more about Jesus than that after he was executed he was buried with a shroud wrapped around his body.

I respect that. Its been dated from 1290-1360. There are drawings of it that predate that. Interestingly in that time frame 1290-1360 was around the time that it had been caught in a fire. The burn makes from the fire are still there. The dated cloth could have been from the time it was repaired. At the time when the study was done the Vatican did not own the artifact. It is believed that was done to devalue it so they can get it form the Savoys. This happened less then 10 years after.

Good video man... There are many things going against Psalm 22 besides what Prof just mentioned (for all you Apologists). The fact that he had his hands pierced was really a common punishment at that time period, with cruxifictions being the most popular form of roman execution. This with the fact that historical documents show that there were many, many, people claiming to be "prophets", the reference doesn't do anything to support Jesus, because it woud support the others as well. Christianity begin with the Jews under Ptolemy order. If apologists read verses 4 and 22-23 of Psalm 22, they'll know it isn't a Messianic prophecy at all. Verse 4 mentions "Our ancestors trusted you; they trusted you, and you saved them", why would Jesus say our ancestors trusted you? Verses 22-23 states "Then I will my brothers and SISTERS about you; I will praise you in the public meeting. Praise the Lord, all you respect him. All you descendants of Jacob, honor him; fear him, all you Israelites". Why would Christ mention Israelites?

@HybridD91 Cont. One could say sisters(NCV, NLT) is being used as a metaphor but for what reason would Christ mention the Israelites? According to the New Testament, they rejected him. What public meeting would Christ praise him? This doesn't sound like a prophecy, more so like praise instead.

If there are hundreds of supposed fulfilled prophecies in the new testament then surely debunking a handful per installment wouldn't make a dent in the messianic portrait as a whole?

@Moussyed First, even if I were inclined to look at every single purported messianic prophecy that Christians claim to have been fulfilled by Jesus--and I'm not so inclined--it's hard to imagine having the time to do videos to cover them all. Therefore, and second, as with most things, one must take a representative sample of the purported prophecies--using the ones Christians regard as critical and to which they refer most often--and address those. In short, it's a significant dent.

@ProfMTH I agree. It sometimes gets so ridiculous when Christians try to defend certain religious beliefs that they even end up having to try to justify things like genocide with arguments like "might makes right" , "they simply deserved it" or "God doesn't endorse genocide".....it's just amazing.

@Moussyed Mostly because Christians weren't allowed to read the bible for about 1500 years; just believing what they were told to believe on pain of death. Why they still believe? Well... you would be better placed to answer that one because it beats the hell out of me. The only logical reason, in my view, would be because they are morons incapable of critical thinking. I'd leave them alone if they weren't harming children but every time a child is taught this I feel the pain, very sharply.

I keep thinking about how "My servant will come wisely..to whom have these things been revealed...he came unnoticed rejected...no one will recognize him.. Every time I hear that the suffering servant is Israel I think of how Jesus says the temple will be destroyed and rebuilt in 3 days. Does't the Jewish preoccupation with the Temple mount count for anything? How valuable would a savior be that gave notice? How genuine would the world become with on such short notice. Can you imagine?

I am sure that there are some that misuse or misunderstand something in old testament scripture. I am only familiar with the use of "pierced" in Isaiah. My JPS Tanakh also uses "pierce" when it counts. If someone says there are 100 scriptures and another says there are 300. shouldn't you focus on the ones that the majority hold as good examples? If you read a ton of Christian apology, you will certainly find enough material for part 8,9, and 10 of your videos.

The JPS Tanakh, even though Jewish, is a suboptimal translation.Tons & centuries of Christian apologetics has created the most massive house of cards in the entire intellectual history of man. The FACT is that bloody human Jesus sacrifice is the answer to a problem that doesn't even exist within Hebrew scripture, for Yahweh, or for humankind created in his image. Jesus would turn over in his grave if he ever found out what Christianity did to him and his Jewish God & scriptures.

When I compare the OT with the New, it just seems like the NT was fabricated by the early church. The difference between the two is like night and day! And the fact that hell as eternal torment isn't anywhere in the OT, just reinforces the idea that the NT was created....and not by any god.

Concerning the author of Matthew (who ever that was), we have seen more than enough to know that he was dishonest and deceptive, to say the least. Having established this as fact, how can we trust anything that 's found in Matthew??
This also tells us that god did not feel the need to intervene & correct these errors. So how do we know that all of the other books are not contaminated for the same reasons??
We know for certain (among other things); the bible is not inerrant word of god!

In the hebrew bible Satan's a child of god, and if you read Job you'll see he can literally do nothing without god's permision. If satans decieving people it's because god allowed it or told him to. Christians combined satan and lucifer later in the relgions growth, possibly through misunderstanding the scripture.

If you say truth is written in my heart, then I totally agree. What my reason & understanding has told me is that the gods of the bible were evil!! That doesn't come from any emotional reaction, but from the very verses spoken by god. He indicts himself with his own words & actions. There are so many verses that support the claim, that it amazes me anyone would claim otherwise!!
Why does god allow satan to terrorize, influence & ruin mankind? Is that part of god's divine plan for us?

Don't modern Jews believe that the Messiah will come, but just hasn't yet? If so, are they misinterpreting things too, or are there just prophecies that do not apply to Jesus as given in the old testament.

are quite a few reasons as to their variation in number. Much like any great literary work, the Bible has many interpretations and, sometimes, people are wrong. This is also caused (as you somewhat pointed out) by differences in translations and also by differences in culture.
Finally, as for your "mauled/pierced" passage, it is rather biased to compare modern day Christian translations to that of a Jewish translation. Because the Jews share the same opinion that you do about Jesus, would it

It hits me that so many are willing to "lie for Jesus", which seems to be in stark contrast in what they claim Jesus is teaching us. I wonder if it's just a white little lie for them or a necessity to follow for instance the parable of the five talents. (Who wants to be thrown out of the kingdom?)
If Christianity results in these kind of half-lies and creationism - why is anyone to take their religion serious? I'm most troubled!

That "like a lion" business is an interesting insight into the use of language. It's obvious that the ancient writers are using the phrase in much the same way as we have come to use the word "badger" -- it's a noun that refers to an animal that we have adapted as a verb -- "to badger someone." In the same way, they've taken the word "lion" and turned it into a verb -- "to lion someone" --meaning to tear or savage them.

Makes me wondering if your arguments against christianity are actually just anger based to such an extent that you just want to find fault with it.
Regarding the prophecies, i have studied them for many years and believe they are accurate. They revealed through the words of prophets. Certain prophecies like those founf in the psalms can be applied to david or other things but are also meant to be prophetical in nature aswell as suggested by jesus himself.
