@erickb1983 you've got a point but I don't think it needs to change its mechanics to become a hit, otherwise it could end up like dragon age 2. it's probably about advertising, when the first game came out the promotion was virtually non-existent, ms put so much into advertising halo reach they sort of forgot about the rest of their exclusives that year, which is a shame because the first one was a great game

If u want more Alan Wake as in atmosphere, exploration, nature environments and fog wait till Alan Wake 2, this is clearly for action purposes only. Leaderboards etc. If u want a story that sucks u in like AW1, wait again.

Well this game has a 4 - 5 hour campain, that may not sound that much but if you think about it the original game has about 7 - 8 hours of gameplay so really this is about 3/4 or so of the original campain. Yes there seems to be more of a action game but there will be a story plus this is only one of many XBLA Alan Wake titles so it will probably be in a episodic form much like the original but there's actually a wait between each episode lol :P

@thatRapisHere Have you ever played a Remedy game? Their trademark genre is being alone in a hostile environment, and they do it exceptionally well, better than any other developer out there. And there are tons of games where survival is mixed with co-op, this is what's supposed to seperate this game from the rest of the crowd.

As a fact, I have. I played Alan Wake and really enjoyed it. I also finished it on nighmare difficulty and got all the cheevos, including the dlc's ones.. so did my best friend.. but when talking about the game, we felt like it could have been so much better if they added some sort of co-op mode. If not on this arcade version, I'm sure they will on the next retail game.

Alan wake had such a brilliant flow to it's gameplay. The gun fights plus the dodging mechanics really made it stand out. Of course only if you played it on hard or nightmare.

I hope they have some 'Taken' animals in this. Having only crows in a game set almost entirely in a forest was a real letdown. I hope they release a boxed 'Alan Wake The Complete Collection' at some point in the near future, as I haven't played the dlc's for the first game. I prefer to have hard copies of my games.

They were going to have 'Toby the Dog' come back as one but thought it too similar to other survival horror games. They could've done it as a 'Cujo' reference, which would've been cool.

Split splat achievement. that makes me wonder what the chievo list will be for this game now. i hope there isnt as many collectables as the first game because even thought they were lots of fun to find if you missed one. you had to backtrack through levels to find it. i loved the first game. this one is already exceeding expectations.

I want to like this, I really do. I loved Alan Wake. But this looks like a step backwards to me. It was the mood and atmosphere that made the first one shine; ie survival horror.  Not liking the new focus on action. Hopefully the full sequel will get back to its roots.

Remedy is a Finnish game developer and what's common to Finnish developers is that they don't have the same huge budget as American game developers and publishing games on DVDs with covers, manuals etc costs, so they publish games as downloadable content (i.e. Angry Birds, Outland, Trine, Trials) to cut costs/expenses.

I' loved AW for its intense moments, the characters and the intense atmosphere. YES I' m looking forward to a 2nd part. Of course AW's AN isnt a real sequel, but I will buy and enjoy it. Looks pretty cool. Better graphics, more action and an arcade mode...another way to bring AW to the people. I think it will be great but i hope Part 2 will be more like the original.

I understand that this is the arcade portion of the game and there's not much wiggle room, but still I have to say, that this looks largely similar to the gameplay of the main story of the original that came out last year. The only difference I see is a new costume, map, weapons, a enemy variation or two and MAYBE a graphics bump. Other than that, it's still shine light...shoot foes, unlike the DLC that added more to the gameplay.

If i heard correctly the first game(or is it this one?) is coming out for the PC and if that true ill def buy it again and play thru it on my PC. The atmosphere in these games are unlike any other very awesome
