can anyone please please explain to me little bit more on how to use FX? My manual is pretty crappy one... doesn't explain how to use it properly. I would like to know how to use delay and echo and how to reset it... anyone please help
What version USB is this beast? Many USB mixers seem to be still stuck at USB v1.1 - for good reasons I suppose (you don't want to have to replace a mixer every few years). Behringer's PDF manual for this jobbie says it's 16 bit at 48kHz sampling, but doesn't say if it's USB v2.0 (I think it's safe to assume it's not USB 3).
@lemoutan Umm i have to admit i am not 100% sure about the different types of USB as i have never thought about it but I could confidently say it probably isn't 3.0 and is still at 2.0 level.
Though your computer's almost certainly USB 2, the mixer might not be. It'll still work (obviously) but one way you can be sure is by downloading USB diagnostic software that'll tell you if the device is moving data fast enough to be USB 2. Frankly, if the box the mixer came in isn't trumpeting high speed USB 2 then it probably isn't. I'd ask Behringer themselves but they - rather irritatingly - won't let you ask 'em a question unless you register!
@LordWaterCress Yes you would need four XLR to XLR cables and one XLR to 1/4 inch Jack cable for the microphones and the just plug the keyboard in stereo or mono depending on what you want.
@hardstyleaddictedNL Yes you can plug a bass and guitar straight into the mixer with a 1/4 inch jack lead and you can record straight to a mac with USB but on your recording software it will all come out in one channel.
@hardstyleaddictedNL you could just about get away with it if you plug the guitar and bass in with a 1/4 inch jack lead and then mic up the drum kit with only 4 microphones (kick, snare and then maybe two overheads). when you plug all of this into the computer it will all come out in one channel because it is using usb not firewire
@hardstyleaddictedNL if you want to have whatever goes on on the mixer to be happening (sort of like a midi controller) than yes you would need to get a firewire mixer, you might want to look into them a bit more because i don't know a lot about them as i don't have one.
@dantheweirdo - Yes, you can. I am having one delivered to me as we speak....It has XLR outputs on the back which is typical of today's mixers that you can connect right to an amp.
Really good tutorial for beginners like me, thanks. Now I need to work out how I connect the mixer to Garageband after finding out what every button/dial does.
@TheDx917 I have been using the mixer for quite some time now and I enjoy it immensely. For the price, you really can't go wrong and it's a great piece to get your feet wet with. Do you have a DAW you plan on recording with or will you be using the one that is provided with the mixer?
@TheDx917 Yes. It is not a bad choice BUT the set up may be a bit of a challenge. Question, do you plan on running pro tools 8 or 9? 9 is the only PT that allows you to use third party hardware. I imagine you will be using the USB to connect it which is great except that the behringer audio driver that comes with it will NOT function in pro tools. You can download asio4all i believe its called for free and that will make it compatible. For the price it's a great mixer and I use it with PT also
@TheNostalgicBeats Im planning to run pro tools 9 !! :) i think ill change my plans and go for a Mackie or something else !! :P anyways... thats a lot for help !! :) and nice video btw !! keep it up bro :D
@TheDx917 it is a great recording mixer if you are on a tight budget and the weird sounds are just from the camera and me editing it all so i would defiantly suggest it to anyone new to recording and don't have much to spend.
i have a little mixer that came with my PA speakers. the output jacks are instrument cables like for guitars but the main output jacks on this look like mic cables. Will it work the same if i plug the pa speakers into 3 & 4?
I cant figure out how to adjust my mic volume level low enough to where its not in the red on my program yet i can still hear my vocals in my headphones while my instrumental is playing.......
@kbmr903 what program are you running? if you have option try apply a compressor or limiter to keep it from peaking. what i use to do was run the mic gain at about 75 to 80 degrees and then apply a compressor within the program to boost my level so i can hear my self sing (i have a really soft voice). I put an external compressor into the mix now and it really boosts the gain quite nicely while keeping the signal from peaking. it also adds warmth to the track.
I heard that the mixer transfers the sound to the computer thru USB without any effects and other sound manipulating additions like gain, compressor, EQ etc. Is that true? I want to connect a mic (XLR cable) let's say to the channel one, then add some effects, EQ, gain and so on and then I want to send the signal to my laptop thru USB and record it in Audacity. The question is - will the sound recorded in Audacity have all those effects on it, or will it be a clear sound without effects?
@khampanomads if you record your track with an effect applied to it, it will come up in your program as just that you can't separate the wet from dry (the original recording from the recording affected with effects) if that is what you are asking
@mookeystinks123 no =( it records to one track only. most usb mixers will only do one track (i heard usb 3.0 now can do multiple tracks in a daw but not sure?) but any way this mixer does not have that capability
@Luisrox123 have you made sure that your speakers are bi weireable? If the speakers and amp your sending it through are in mono and not stereo then you won't get the stereo features...
what kind of cables would you neeed to record vocals / guitar with this? I just got the xenyx xenyx x2442 and im having difficulty getting a good sound by just plugging it in to the computer. i get a very staticy sounddd, im rlyy new to this and the manual doesnt help at all
@shinyarseusgo hey mate, you need a Micro USB to USB cable to go from the mixer to your laptop, then you need to install the driver/plug-in for your specific mixer then select the plug-in in whichever recording program you're using and it should work like a charm. In my personal opinion the best way on the cheap to get your guitar to sound good is by micing up a good amp and cover the mic and amp face in a duvet to blanket the sound, you get a really bassy, clear tone, but you need a good amp (:
@HarmLess7 yer nearly all of that is not what i do
for starters i have a usb to micro usb which comes with the mixer and i didnt need to install drivers or anything it is just plug and play and i personally dont cover the amp with a blanket but that is your personal choice and i have nothing wrong with that
hey i wonna use it for my home studio but i have sam broadcaster and mAIRLIST on my pc when i am live i use mAIRLIST and for auto i use sam broadcaster
but can i put for example on chanel 1 my mic on channel 2 a mAIRLIST player and on 3 sam broadcaster player?
i have a quick question for example if i have a something connected in channel 1 and channel 2 and i am recording in the computer will i have the ability to record those 2 channels in different tracks in my recording software... lets say for example in ableton or any other daw?
@JBr33zyMusic yeah you can. With the phones pluged in you can hear everything comin in and out from the mixer (if you have selected the Main Mix preset for the headphones)
@fightbox4 well i personaly used to plug a guitar into an amp and have the headphones going into a mono input but i have a boss me-20 and it has a left and right output so i could have plugged it in to a sterio port but now i mic up the amp and i find it gives a much greater sound and it makes it sound more live and not fake if you understand me so i have been only using the mic inputs at the moment but i personaly if i would have to choose i would go for mono
@gilster60 ah i see im trying to find something that you can record in sterio instead of mono but all interfaces and stuff only record in mono so you need a 3 way jack lead two to go into the mixer one to go into the guitar and so on i just want to find a mixer or an interface that lets you record in sterio with just a jack to jack lead instead of a three way
@fightbox4 oh ok i'm not sure if i understand 100% but if you want you can record though the xenyx 1204 using sterio or mono and the mixer goes to the comp through usb and i use audacity and i record sterio tracks i just cange the settings to suit my needs
@fightbox4 yer the behringer xenyx 2222 usb looks really good if you are thinking of recording drums now or in the future i am kind of thinking i should have got a bigger mixer but the one i got now is so much bigger than i was firstly intending on getting. a couple of points that should help you decide is always get a bigger mixer than you think you need now because you might change your mind later on in the future and i wouldnt go bigger than the 2222 unless you are recording live bands
@fightbox4 yer look around on the internet because you can normally get them cheaper on some sites and then they go really expensive on others so i hope i have helped you have fun
hey, i read that this has "multi-fx"...does this mean that you can use several of the preset effects simultaneously, or are you limited to one at a time?
@MistAtMarseilles yer its a bit annoying but you can only use one type of effect at the same time but you can make whatever input have that fx and how intense or concentrated it is
sorry this is a bit of a delay i have been very busy
does this mixer act as an external hard drive? I used to have a behringer xenyx 802 and used and rca cable to hook to my laptop and running through Mixcraft and Audacity, and the quality was really bad. I think it was because my laptop's sound card is terrible, so does this act as a usb interface in a way?
@mrsoupmandan firstly it doesn't act as a hard drive and my mixer the 1204 does act as a sound card becasue you just have to plug it in using usb but i dont think the one you have does have usb connections if not you should think about getting the Behringer U-Control UCA202 USB Audio Interface and connect it using that.
if you have any other questions please feel free to ask me
hi i bought the 2222 usb on saturday and i relly dont know how to get the sound from the mixer o the computer. can you please tell me how. if you can, step by step?
@servdor1027 hi all i have done with mine is plugged the mixer into the computer through usb and went into audacity (my choice of software) and went into prefrences and changed the input and output to something like usb codec and when i have the mixer connected to the computer i have 2-TR/USB clicked down in the source section and the button next to it (2-TR/USB TO MAIN) off i hope this has helped if it still doesnt work you should consider phoning behringer or and asking them it could be faulty
Hi there! I appreciate your vid very much, seeing as I am considering buying this piece of equipment. I do however have a question, what's up with the mic? The volume keeps changing as well as occasionally having some noise.
@TheMasterLifeforger hi yer with the mic volume it is mainly because i am having to hold the mic all the way through the video becasue i havent got a mic stand yet sorry about that but otherwise it is a great mixer and i strongly advise it to anyone for a first time buy or just if you are looking for a mixer that isnt too big for a home recording studio thanks for watching ask anymore questions if you have to
@gilster60 Hey.I appreciate the fact you made this video and in no way meant to give critique. I was just wondering, because I am interested in the board and was wondering if the mic issues where related to the way you recorded it, the board or the mic.
@TheMasterLifeforger hi yer sorry the mic volume problem was totaly my falt i didnt have a mic stand so i had to hold the mic up to my mouth, i kept moving it away from my mouth by accident and that is the reason for the rubbish sound but it is a really good mixer and i strongly recomend it to anyone if it is a first time buy for just for a home studio
i hope that answered your question feel free to ask anymore
@hydraulikz im not sure what motorized faders are but if they are simply faders that go up and down controlled by a computer for instance then no you have to do it all yourself
@drummermahn umm at the moment i have the mixer headphones output going to a rubbish mini hifi system which then has the standard speakers that came with it
i am planning to buy some krk rokit 6 but at the moment i am savinging up for other things so they will have to wait
also the controll room out is going to a marshall bass amp which i use as a subwooffer its not very good but it will have to do for now
hope this has hellped ask any more questions if you have to
I'm having some issues using this with audacity. I've set my preferences to use the mic from the controller but it's still not working? Like it doesn't show any response that it's going through. Any help would be great thanks! :)
@GrenichMeanTime hi if you have the usb one then on audacity go into prefrences on the first page the playback and recording boxes should be something like usb audio codec then in recording you want the channels to be at 2 (Stereo) now what i do to check that it is working is click record then fiddle around on the mixer untill i get sound
one thing that i always change is in the Source section on the mixer make sure 2-TR/USB is pressed down and the button that says 2-TR/USB TO MAIN is not down
@EduardoGamboa123 if you mean you could plug studio monitors in to this as an output than yes there are three main outputs Main Output (2 x XLR connection) Alt 3-4 output (2 x 1/4" jack) and Control Room output
little unsure but you should know as you own one, on mac, does the input show a stereo or 2 mono inputs? if it shows as stereo can it be easily split? any help would be good thanks.
@02boothy hey i didnt actully know this myself so i went and tryed it on a mac and i used garage band it just comes up with the input as one stereo input. if you have lots of instruments pluged into the mixer it will only come up as one track on the software
so i hope this answered your question sorry if it didnt and if you need to know anything else than please ask me
@gilster60 Lot of help thanks, and just so you know looks like ill get one then overtime get myself a nice audio interface and use this for the preamps.
@basballcarn yer it does so you dont need to buy one and it doesnt come with any software so you need to have recording software i use audacity or garage band depending on what computer im using both of those are free and its just plug and play so really easy to use
@gavrjdodd all the x means is that it has fx built in which i think the 1204 has anyway and the usb part of it allows you to plug it into your computer and record onto some software e.g garage band and if you mean multi track where each specific channel on the mixer has a different track on your software then no you cant. you just have to plug different instraments into the mixer and they all go to the same track
hope that has answered your question and thanks for watching the video
can anyone please please explain to me little bit more on how to use FX? My manual is pretty crappy one... doesn't explain how to use it properly. I would like to know how to use delay and echo and how to reset it... anyone please help

if you have any other questions please feel free to ask me

hi i bought the 2222 usb on saturday and i relly dont know how to get the sound from the mixer o the computer. can you please tell me how. if you can, step by step?
servdor1027 1 year ago

TheMasterLifeforger 1 year ago
@TheMasterLifeforger hi yer with the mic volume it is mainly because i am having to hold the mic all the way through the video becasue i havent got a mic stand yet sorry about that but otherwise it is a great mixer and i strongly advise it to anyone for a first time buy or just if you are looking for a mixer that isnt too big for a home recording studio thanks for watching ask anymore questions if you have to
gilster60 1 year ago
@gilster60 Hey.I appreciate the fact you made this video and in no way meant to give critique. I was just wondering, because I am interested in the board and was wondering if the mic issues where related to the way you recorded it, the board or the mic.
TheMasterLifeforger 1 year ago
@TheMasterLifeforger hi yer sorry the mic volume problem was totaly my falt i didnt have a mic stand so i had to hold the mic up to my mouth, i kept moving it away from my mouth by accident and that is the reason for the rubbish sound but it is a really good mixer and i strongly recomend it to anyone if it is a first time buy for just for a home studio
i hope that answered your question feel free to ask anymore

are the faders motorized?
hydraulikz 1 year ago
@hydraulikz im not sure what motorized faders are but if they are simply faders that go up and down controlled by a computer for instance then no you have to do it all yourself

What speakers do you use with the mixer?
Thanks
drummermahn 1 year ago

GrenichMeanTime 1 year ago
@GrenichMeanTime hi if you have the usb one then on audacity go into prefrences on the first page the playback and recording boxes should be something like usb audio codec then in recording you want the channels to be at 2 (Stereo) now what i do to check that it is working is click record then fiddle around on the mixer untill i get sound
one thing that i always change is in the Source section on the mixer make sure 2-TR/USB is pressed down and the button that says 2-TR/USB TO MAIN is not down

i could use this for studio monitors right
EduardoGamboa123 1 year ago
@EduardoGamboa123 if you mean you could plug studio monitors in to this as an output than yes there are three main outputs Main Output (2 x XLR connection) Alt 3-4 output (2 x 1/4" jack) and Control Room output
(2 x 1/4" jack)
hope that answered your question
ask anymore questions if you need.

little unsure but you should know as you own one, on mac, does the input show a stereo or 2 mono inputs? if it shows as stereo can it be easily split? any help would be good thanks.
02boothy 1 year ago
@02boothy hey i didnt actully know this myself so i went and tryed it on a mac and i used garage band it just comes up with the input as one stereo input. if you have lots of instruments pluged into the mixer it will only come up as one track on the software
so i hope this answered your question sorry if it didnt and if you need to know anything else than please ask me
gilster60 1 year ago
@gilster60 Lot of help thanks, and just so you know looks like ill get one then overtime get myself a nice audio interface and use this for the preamps.
Thanks again!

Does it come with usb cord?
basballcarn 1 year ago
@basballcarn yer it does so you dont need to buy one and it doesnt come with any software so you need to have recording software i use audacity or garage band depending on what computer im using both of those are free and its just plug and play so really easy to use
gilster60 1 year ago
question is... can you multi track record with it. cos you cant with the 1204. whats the difference between the 1204 and the X1204?
gavrjdodd 1 year ago
@gavrjdodd all the x means is that it has fx built in which i think the 1204 has anyway and the usb part of it allows you to plug it into your computer and record onto some software e.g garage band and if you mean multi track where each specific channel on the mixer has a different track on your software then no you cant. you just have to plug different instraments into the mixer and they all go to the same track
hope that has answered your question and thanks for watching the video

@gilster60 yeah man thats really helpful actually. cheers bro.
